5:31. a family looking for comfort following a deadly crash after two boats collided. this crash happened last night in marley creek just out of the curtis bay area, not far from from the u.s. coast guard station. linda so is at the scene from one reaction. from a man who knew the victim. >> reporter: he says it's dangerous and not surprised something bad happened there. with -- witnesses say there are close calls in the area all the time. yesterday afternoon, 6:00, when officers and the coast guard arrived, this is what they saw. investigators say they had to rescue john martins and his daughter lauren after their boat crashed into another. a witness jumped on board the other boat to stop it but the victim had already died. witnesses say it's not surprising the crash happened considering how shallow the water is where the two creeks meet. >> that's how i heard -- i was eating ice cream.

my neighbor told me what happened. it just floored me. i was sad:>> reporter: the victim has not been identified but friends say he leaves behind four children. the youngest only a couple of months old. meanwhile, the father and daughter who had to be rescued are expected to be ok. live in curtis cove, linda so, abc2 news. three boaters in texas are safe at home this morning after they were missing in the gulf of mexico for a week. they were found alive sitting on top of their capsized boat about 180 miles from land. the coast guard had called off the search this past friday but a passing boater saw them while fishing on saturday. >> i got a little closer, i said they got the by no, ma'am collars -- binoculars. i said somebody is standing, a white flag, turned out it was a t-shirt. they jumped in the boat. >> none of the men had serious

injuries. the captain of the fishing boat took home some video of the three men they recovered and called home on cell phones to say they were safe. 5:33. this morning investigators want to know how celebrity deejay a.m. died. adam gol stein was found in his new york apartment friday night. investigators say drug paraphernalia found in his apartment. the circumstances surrounding his death are still not clear. goldstein performed at hollywood's most exclusive parties and dated stars like nicole richie and mandy moore, he was 36 years old. on what would have been his 51st birthday michael jackson, thousands of his fans marked the occasion by dancing to his music. fans fans gathered in brooklyn, rain or shine, it was hosted by spike lee. he said he loved jackson's

64 degrees at 5:46. our top stories -- still no word of a cause but we understand two los angeles county firefighters are dead after their vehicle rolled over on a mountain amid a fierce wildfire yesterday. some 12,000 homes are now being threatened by the fire which is only 5% contained. the coast guard and anne arundel county authorities searched for the cause of a deadly boat crash in marley creek. two boats collided 6:00 yesterday evening just south of curtis bay, in that area. a man and his daughter survived but the third person aboard the second boat has died. it's the first day of school for students in baltimore city and county. city leaders have closed underperforming schools and expanded programs that leaders feel have been working. that and more coming up. over the next hour and a half.

i doubt it will make it into baltimore but may clip just to the south and east as we're watching this frontal boundary that is responsible for taking some of the humidity out. that is one of the reasons we're expecting temperatures to stay below normal as we head through the next couple of days. canadian air mass spilling in. we're bringing in the cooler wind and this frontal boundary stalling out just to the south. looks like a wave of low pressure trying to form just west of atlanta, georgia, really starting to pump in some of this moisture and that rides looping the frontal boundary that is going to bring rain in portions of maybe the central bay and eastern shore. 73 degrees is my call this afternoon in baltimore. that comes with a partly sunny sky. however, you're traveling across the bay to the eastern shore, once you get across the bay bridge, probably mostly cloudy skies. 76, a little milder, easton a good chance of rain, and rain could be heavier towards salisbury and ocean city. for tonight we'll try to clear out, 54 degrees, that's not mostly cloudy, sorry, that should be clearing
