the latest now in the case of a johns hopkins student who used a samurai sword to kill a suspected intruder. police say the fatal confrontation happened early tuesday at a house on east university parkway in charles village just off the johns hopkins university campus. initially, police said the hopkins student heard a noise, picked up his sword and confronted a man in his attached garage. now they say university police had just searched the property with the student and found nothing. that's when the student armed himself and decided to conduct a more thorough search. they heard the student cry out for his roommates to call police from a short distance away. police must complete the investigation before prosecutors well determine whether or not the student will face charges. tonight, "20/20" has a heart wrenching story of six women dating one man with a

where several dunbar high school students have been charged with attempted murder. linda so has the latest this morning. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, megan. the four students were arrested after allegedly targeting another student from woodlawn high. defense attorney warren brown tells us the attempted murder charges stem from a fight in baltimore county that was in retaliation for a previous beating. the students were getting back at a teen who beat the player's younger brother. they stabbed him and beat him and stabbed three others. attorney brown is representing 16-year-old james mcbride. he says mcbride was sleeping over a teammate's house when the teen's mother drove the students to another teen who previously beat her son. we spoke with parents who say the allegation was disturbing. >> i thought it was sad because i'm thinking about all of these

kids' future and, you know, the future will go down the drain for something like this. >> reporter: now, this morning, mcbride the 16-year-old is free on bond. meanwhile, the mother who allegedly drove these students was also arrested. we're live in east baltimore, linda so, abc 2 news. >> here's a look at the stories abc 2 news is woking on for you. baltimore city police is looking for chews as to who shot two men overnight. one man suffered a gunshot wound to the side, the other to his leg. there is no arrest right now or motive at this time. new traffic safety measures are in place along a dangerous stretp of route 3 -- stretch of route 32. motorists are being warned about turning off the road. they also added rumble strips and are encouraging drivers to slow down. this happened one week after a sykesville man was killed in a

still hanging around the area. a little bit of drizzle left over as well because of the easterly wind that piled in so much moisture. here's the deal, though. the same storm sitting in the deep south and just off the edge of our screen continue to sit here. that continues to generate showers and storms across the deep south. we begin to shift the wind today. all of this clearing underneath high pressure that will slide off the mid-atlantic coast and push the frontal boundary. it will reinforce the cooler air. we get a chance to dre out and stay below normal through the weekend after one warm day today. 78 degrees, the early clouds give way to some clearing. we may not cher out complete i had but enough to get the sun out. tonight, though, clear and it will be cool. we're into the upper 50s as we check out the weekend forecast. 72 tomorrow with a shift in the

they are one big happy family again in virginia. listen to this. linda and bob schneider were on vacation in north carolina when a man stole their camper. that's bad enough. even worse, though, their beloved dog benji was still inside the camper. the authorities were able to track benji, the camper and the suspect down because benji had one of the chips inserted in case he got lost. turns out they not only help you find your pet but your automobile, too. animal control got the dog and returned him all of the information from the owner and all together now the family is.
