cutting back baltimore and sponsors are going forward. which means a profitable business downtown at least for some. >> it will give the crowds a jaw - dropping fireworks experience. >> reporter: everything is set up to the music perfectly. it took 50 hours to get the show set up. some which have never been seen

before in baltimore. if you are coming to the show expect the normal packed crowds. if you are trying to get into a restaurant good luck. some of the favorites in the harbor show most are book up for late reservations closer to fireworks time. as far as downtown hotels go there are still vacancies left and some with good views of the harbor. new year's is a party that has people willing to splurge, if not on a hotel then on something. >> people come out and it is great for baltimore's economy. for us to do this event we have been able to make the event every year. >> reporter: for last-minute plans there are good deals to be had downtown especially if you are willing to walk to the

it is back to the count down to 2010 with new year's eve rocking eve. enough is enough. that's what some chesapeake bay advocates are saying at the government's delays in cleaning up the bay. government worker are in annapolis to call what some say are radical steps to reduce pollution. the coalition is sending the obama administration their proposed strategy. even one tougher than the one developed by the enviromental protection agency which has been sued by the foundation. >> , this d-day for the bay. we don't want any short cut. we are pleading and begging for them to listen to their concious and vote their heart

this time. we need this and we need it badly. >> plenty fisheries such as the shad fisheries are going down the tubes. we have people getting cancerous lesions and people getting sick. >> critics say bay area and the environmental protection agency continually fail to comply with the clean water act. many saltwater fisherman will have to register with the federal government. a flu federal law that takes place friday will force those that fish three miles offshore to register in eat states including maryland. it aims to collect information about saltwater anglers and what they catch. registration is free for 2010. mayor sheila dixon's attorneys are trying to get a new trial. the efforts resulted in five jurors being called back to court. the jurors who became friends

on facebook during the trial will appear before the judge on january 6th. lawyers for the mayor say the injury your's disregarded the judge's instructions not to hsx white house while they deliberated. >> she was found getty earlier this month while misappropriating gift cards. the attorney for the convicted sex offender charged in the abduction of a salisbury girl says he client denies allegation that he harmed the child. thomas legs jr. has been charged with kidnapping after burglary after 11:00-year-old sarah foxwell disappeared from her salisbury home days before christmas. her body was found christmas day afterpolice and 3,000 volunteers searched an area near the maryland $delaware

state line. he has denied and continues to deny any involvement in the crime. baltimore city police investigate a shooting outside of the restaurant in north baltimore. the shooting took place last night at the chinese restaurant on greenmont avenue. a 3-year-old man was shot in the face and later died at johns hopkins hospital. police are still searching for a suspect and tries to determine if the victim was targeted. ann arundel police are looking for a man who robbed a 7-11 store. the male clerk told the police a suspect walked behind the counter, showed a gun and demanded money and he also grabbed cigarettes along with money before running from the scene. police ask anyone with information to contact robbery unit or call metro crimestoppers.

clouds came in early. this morning we were down to 18. 30 at bwi marshall. temperature continuing to fall out there as the clouds roll in out of the west. here it is for you. winter weather advisory up now for the baltimore area down through d.c. and also all the way west. now the eastern shore not included in this including cecil county. along the eastern side of the chesapeake looks like a cold rain through the day tomorrow. not any significant wintry weather. we cannot say that about the western side of the chesapeake. lows this morning. talk about cold air. 18 degrees. that's where we kicked ate off today. we struggled to warm up 15 degrees or so. we'll be below freezing tomorrow when this comes down. the air aloft will be above freezing. snow melts to rain and changes to ice before it hits the

ground tomorrow morning. most of that not even touching the ground. this will continue to track into new england. not really be a player for us other than travel plans towards the northern airports through chicago. this is the area we are watching. precipitation slides up the coast over the next 24-hours bringing with it a mess tomorrow. primarily a mix of sleet/snow and changing over to rain through the day. perhaps tomorrow night another rain/snow mix. light stuff tomorrow night. forecast tomorrow morning. wintry weather pushing in 6:00 a.m. tough commute the you are going to the work early in the morning. leave early. the ice will slow you down big time. tomorrow night stroke of midnight bringing in 2010 looks like cloudy conditions. new
