now mourn, ok? >> meridge is accused of fatally shooting his twin sisters, a 6-year-old cousin, 79-year-old aunt at a family home in jupiter, florida. matthew is just 13 but has an experience that will last a lifetime. the california teen went sledding with his family. he got lost. it got dark and matthew lost a glove, lost his shoes and a sock. he spent the night in freezing conditions. his parents started to fear the worst because matthew has no wilderness training and no survival skills. >> only 13 years old and it's below 15 out there. it's colder than it was in the truck. i just didn't think they would find him alive in the morning. >> i was being all quiet just staring at everyone. when they told -- what they told me is i was screaming i'm over here. >> after 16 excruciating hours matthew was finally found in a

6:40. still no word on when the u.s. and british embassies in yemen are going to open. they were locked up sunday after fresh threats from al-qaeda. yemen is the ancestral home of osama bin laden. the administration's top counterterrorism adviser says u.s. troops sent there is not under discussion. passengers from newark airport in new jersey should be at their destination after flights were grounded when a man bypassed security. sunday night all the passengers in terminal c were rescreened. passengers waited six hours before reboarding plane.

3:00 yesterday afternoon. it happened in an alley in the 2300 block of with acullua avenue in northwest baltimore. at this time no suspect or motive in the case. a city police officer recovering after a three-car crash involving a police cruiser. it happened 8:30 last night on york road near woodborne avenue in north baltimore. the police car crashed into the subway restaurant. another vehicle then flipped over. we're told the officer hurt his leg. injuries appear to be minor. he had to go to shock trauma as a precaution. no word yet on what caused the crash. 6:51. who knows what we're going to do at the airport on this monday? >> everything from the scare on christmas to what happened yesterday in new jersey. sherrie johnson is here to tell us that the only thing we know is that the way we fly is definitely changing. >> reporter: that's right. the u.s. government is issuing new security rules for all airlines that fly into this country.

immediately after the christmas day bomb attempt the government ordered patdowns on all travelers on international flights to the u.s. passengers with passports from or who have traveled through countries that sponsor terrorism will have extra screening. many other passengers from abroad can also expect extra scrutiny on a random basis. the goal is to keep terrorists off a plane. >> it's at airports across the globe where terrorists are trying to slip through the cracks and attack us. >> you may see different threshold for what makes you a select d or what makes you no fly. right now those are very limited, i suspect they will probably broaden those definitions. >> reporter: tsa is also buying more full-body scanners for use in the u.s. and adding air marshals to international flights but what is critical, tighter security at foreign airports. in the studio, sherrie johnson, abc2 news. in glen burnie six people were hurt including three children at a fire at the willows apartments. a 2-year-old is in pretty bad

shape. on arrival heavy smoke was coming from the building and more fire crews were called to the scene. firefighters say the flames seem to have started because of a pot left on the stove. a man is dead after he was found in a car that overturned in a frozep creek. a jogger called 911 after noticing the car under partly frozen ice six feet deep in rock creek park near massachusetts avenue. officials say the man inside had a heart attack and was removed from the car after 20 minutes. but he later died. >> cold is dangerous. it's something i don't think people really consider but a lot of bad things can happen. in the cold. >> we got there and there was some ice forming around the car. he had probably been there for a while. >> the victim has been identified as 22-year-old joshua coleman of arlington, virginia. after losing the win last week they needed to bounce back. they did. the terps righted the ship in
