no more and that has people feeling a little nervous. >> two doctors from union memorial are back talking about how they took care of people in haiti. we will hear from them in a bit. meantime good wednesday morning. >> all right here we go. man the battle stations most schools are delayed if not closed. let's look at weather right now. >> good morning we have had ourselves that burst of snow looked like it was snowing on the radar for four hours until it reached the ground after 6:00 got most of yesterday's commute through and this mornings commute is just a matter of clean up. the snow is done. these are snow totals, me injured 4 and a half inches in the parking lot. parkville, elk ridge, around midnight. dwi mark around midnight and two and a half inches in annapolis. we are waking for observers to wake up and stick their rulers back into the ground. on average, 3 to 5 inches of snow higher than we suspected

yesterday morning but that was hinted as as we have had a trend of storms getting farther north and giving us a harder hit. two days of stuff to melt and a major storm on the way this weekend. it may not be pure snow but a big impact. across the chesapeake showing light snow across the del mar and we are below freezing. let's see what is happening on the roads. kim brown. >> well, we are pretty much clear of a lot of snow and ice on the major roadways, crews did a good job getting everything cleared away here at 95, no problems both directions arbutus but an accident, south 85, roswell. no problems around 695, harris road expressway looking good. a pair of water main breaks, baltimore county. closed between millford mill and up land road. right lane and shoulder are blocked at stevens. as we look around the city, no problems pretty clear as we see

downtown from the tower. back to you. >> nice shot. 5:31 a.m. after two and a half feet of snow this is nothing but we have to take a little time to get going. >> allow yourself some time. what we will face once we walk outside hello linda you look nice and warm. >> i have lots of layers on. that is the key. so what you will be facing this morning, probably the hardest part is when you walk out your door because side streets, neighbourhood roads still iffy main roads looking great. here in towel son we have our ruler tells us 4 inches we got 4 inches, so when you walk out the door you will have to do shoveling this morning and we have tips for you because shoveling if you don't do it the right way can lead to bigger problems. especially with people with heart conditions. let's look at these tips we have put together for you. shoveling does a number on your heart so you want to keep somethings in mind if you are middle aged or older, those

people are more at risk and if you have a heart condition, shoveling the wrong way, doing it -- over doing yourself could lead to a heart attack you want to be careful. two minutes of shoveling boosts your heart rate think of it as aerobics. take frequent breaks if you have to, go back inside, do the rest later don't eat a large meal or too much breakfast all that food puts a load on your heart and another tip use a small shovel, lifting lots of heavy snow can raise blood pressure. so when you are out shoveling, it is better to take small amounts, don't try to do it at once don't fill your shovel with too much snow because that can actually put a strain on your heart. these are just somethings to keep in mind, you know, snow is fun and all but you want to stay healthy. back to you guys. >> all right linda thank you. toyota is shipping out parts to fix a sticky gas pedal problem

all right we have this weather alert, delays and closings at the bottom of the screen and a little bit of ice left over but most of the snow is gone. 30 degrees easton, baltimore, york pa. for a second storm we beat them on snow 3 inches up there, about 4 to 5 inches on average here in the baltimore area. eastern shores slightly lower amounts but dealing with clean up this morning as you can see satellite radar over the last six hours showing flurries left over in del mar, snow in the mountains to our west and we keep the threat of cloudflurries around this morning and mixed in fog,

we are here in rogers forge, murdoch and york road. look behind me at the main streets. they are looking pretty good, basically seeing wet pavement right now but it is the side streets where you will definitely find a problem. here in rogers forge, these streets are snow covered, which makes it slippery and tricky to manoeuvre. state highway administration has been out all night long salting and trying to keep drivers safe. they have 1100 pieces of equipment on the road statewide their first priority is always the main road and then hay will move along the neighbourhoods and side streets. not only are there problems with side streets in baltimore county but northeast baltimore you will find snow covered side streets as well. be very careful as you leave the main roads heading into those neighbourhoods. 5:45 a.m. an appeals court is ordering maryland state police to turn

over 10,000 documents relating to racial profiling by state troopers. naacp wants to determine whether state police are properly investigating allegations of racial profiling. they argue the documents are confidential because they are personnel records however maryland court of appeals rejected the argument. plans have been scrapped for a proposed detention center in anne arundel county. it was proposed for a site on surplice state land near routes 110 and pasadena. >> airport officials hoped to bring it to bwi but company offering to help you skip security lines went belly up leaving customers with concerns. thousands who joined clear pay more than $100 to bypass long security lines we all dread but since clear closed up shop,

not by much only 30 here in town we hit mid-20s on our stormcenter weather net in baltimore county and back to the west and harold and carroll county. it is cold enough for it to be icy. a lot of main roads have been treated, and as kim pointed out, yes, if it looks wet it could very well be icy and as we are watching that storm depart off the coast and it did flair up. we hinted at this the last few days considering what happened over part of the weekened. storms have a tendency to push farther north and give us a harder hit. instead of 2 to 3 inches we wound up with 3 to 5 again the snow is done we have flurries back into the mountains and left over with fog but we should try to turn partly sunny as the storm pushes well out to see you can see the center of the storm at least on satle identity imagery off the coast. enough to pull it in our direction. okay. in reference to what is happening back towards the southwest. heavy rain across western and

southern texas that is our next storm p. it appears as if all of the computer models have a pretty good handle on this being a major event. that does leave it open to a wide range of winter possibilities. just want you to plan accordingly for the second half of friday into saturday. having ourselves as major winter storm here as we are looking at dry weather today and tomorrow mostly sunny skies. storms still just getting going but does push its way toward the east heavy rain, severe weather along the gulf coast. storm itself charging up and redevelop as it pushes off the coast and tap into cold air we have in place. does it stay all snow or do we wind up with snow going to sleet, freezing rain and rain in parts of marylandment that is the reason we are not getting snow amounts at this time but moisture, energy and a big impact second half of fly day through saturday and probably -- friday through saturday and probably lasting through sunday as well. some partial clearing, northwest wind 15 miles per
