was sworn in, said thank you and got right to work. >> one of her first jobs? making sure the plows are out on the city industries. >> got to do it. all of the plows around the aerial will get a workout, right, justin? >> we've got ourselves a rough ride here. this is no way to overhype it. no way to sugar coat it. this will be an historic storm. this will probably be the first time in baltimore history that we end up with two storms over 1 foot. could be over 20 inches. right now, we're expecting the snow to begin around 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. across the entire range of central maryland. we've got to include what happens to our west and the northeast and eastern shore. don't want to you get stuck anywhere. once it begins, it will disart picking up in the next hour or two. we expect an average of 12 to 24 inches but that wide range is really because of the impact

of sleet. if you don't turn over to sleet, especially west of baltimore, you could be pushing the higher end of knows amounts. all of those are all the way out to the beaches. blizzard warning out there by delaware and on in through south central and southern new jersey. overall, we're expecting the snow to move in. it looks like it's getting close on the radar. the real range of the snow and precipitation on the west and bottom of the white line i had drawn. it does look impressive here, at least around the potomac. it will feel like it wants to do something when you step outside. it may look like it at 31 in baltimore and 30 in easton. we're aiming for temperatures to warm into the mid-30s when it begins between 10:00 and 2:00. it will mix with sleet, maybe some freezing rain. that will cut down on some of our totals. by tonight, it goes back to all snow and we talk about how much you do expect in your backyard. here's the latest on traffic with kim brown. >> reporter: thanks, justin. this is probably one of the

only going to get worse. it's going to get really busy later in the day. for now, we're live in rodgers forge, linda so, abc 2 news. it qob up to three months before haiti makes a final decision on ten americans charged thursday with child kidnapping. the missionaries attempted to take 33 combrun documented children across the border into the dominican republic. a spokeswoman says she believes god wall cause their release. you know, you update your facebook status to let your friends know what you are up to, but a posting by a fugitive near buffalo helped police capture him. had he been on the run for more than a year. so on a whim, police checked his facebook page and sure enough, there he was. he even posted his own wanted poster. more importantly, it also said where he was. so police with great police work went out there and arrested him. he is in jail here this

eliminate those false echoes. it looks like it's coming down on the regional radars. the real stuff is back in virginia, lynchburg, roanoke down into north carolina and west virginia. that's the stuff behind this line that will move through the area. that's why i'm calling 10:00 to 2:00 to start. a line of severe weather is pushing through the florida panhandle right now. that is one sign of the tremendous amount of tropic at moisture and heat. so we have to deal with that and that's converging with a fading jet stream across the region. the northern southern branches coming together. we'll mix in some of that heat, which means it translates to sleet. that will waste a few hours of snowfall potential. the moisture's there, but we go to sleet this afternoon and add ice onto it. the temperature's in the mid- 30s.

once it begins, it will pick up in the fist couple of hours. hopefully you won't get slick. tomorrow's snow, not the heavy wet stuff, but the light fluffy stuff we pick up the totals. you could wake up with a foot and we could pick up another foot throughout the day. slightly slower on the eastern shore and over 2 feet amounts into the mountains to our west. kim? >> the fact that the roads are dry and volume is lighter than normal contributing to an incident free morning here. we have a little bit of slowing here on harford road. aside from that, traffic is looking good. southbound 95 as you make your way from the area down towards the 895 split. as we check around baltimore city here downtown at fayette and st. paul street, traffic looks good. jamie, megan, back to you. there are a lot of schools

>> thank you, linda. hey, listen, southwest airlines already canceled some of tomorrow's flights out of bwi thurgood marshall. a spokesperson says they will be canceling flights beginning at 2:00. no southwest flights at bwi from 2:00 until sunday morning if he earliest. the airline says customers with reservations will be able to reschedule at no extra cost. i understand amtrak trains will not be running south of d.c. today. they canceled all of those trying to get to the carolinas. milk, check. snuggie check. did you check the liquor stores? they are as crowded as the grocery stores. the scepter for disease control is out with the list to keep you safe. number one, drinking water. number two, canned, no cooked food, okay? number three is the nonelectric can opener. for a look at the complete

expected to be released from shock trauma after a shoot-out with two suspects. the two plain clothed officers were investigating another shooting when they approached a group of men on a porch. that's when shots raping out. when the smoke cleared, a detective was shot several time times in the arm. the officials with a four-year veteran and saw combat in iraq. >> this is the kind of action men and women of this department are willing to do to put bad guys in jail that have these begins on the streets of our cities. >> the injured suspect was taken to sinai hospital where he was last reported in critical condition. this is the second police- involved shooting this year and the first to end in death. today is her first full

air and the heaviest snow will be tomorrow morning through about lunchtime or early afternoon. could see 26 to 30 plus into the mountains, west of frederick, west virginia and virginia. on the eastern shore, you are mixing in more ice. so much to sort through but the storm will have temperatures at the start in the mid-30s. we pull into 25 and drop throughout the day to 15 tomorrow night. another snowstorm is possible to come in on tuesday and wednesday of next week. kim? >> we're still accident free around the area. no problems around the beltway. i think a lot of people are heeding your warnings around the beltway. really no problems. that's all the time we have right now, but of course we'll continue all morning long with the snow coverage. >> all right. we'll see you at 9:00.
