round two. another storm heading our way. we're getting ready for more snow. good evening. i'm roosevelt leftwich. >> i'm kelly swoope. let's get right to meteorologist wyatt eberhart and justin berk with the latest on this latest winter wallop. >> we've basically gone from forecast mode, more to storm tracking mode. this is already moving into maryland as we speak. you can see some very heavy bands pushing into the immediate baltimore area. we have sleet through much of the eastern half of the state. extending now through the delmarva peninsula. on maryland's most powerful doppler radar now you can see, if you look closely, baltimore getting into some, at least moderate snow now. i'll have to check the objections at the top of the -- observations at the top of the hour, but looks like more sleet down in the easton area and back to cambridge to the south

and east. that is why we think accumulations could be a bit less. nonetheless a winter storm warning up for the entire state. baltimore, ocean city, all the way west past hagerstown, frederick and beyond. it will be a snowy situation. we think we'll now push to the number one winter of all time for snow here since records have been kept in the baltimore area. unbelievable stuff. we only need another half-inch. looks like we're probably going to get well beyond that, we're talking a foot or more likely. >> it's in spots already. it was coming down fast and furious. >> westminster -- >> ralph in westminster called in, says there's two inches of snow coming down so far. he said it was coming down so hard and furious it was like confection sugar. a quick two inches in westminster and that's what happens with snowstorms my friends. they dump more in one spot versus the other. go back to that. 29 degrees and winds only pushed 12 miles per hour the real wind with the storm is going to actually pick up,

tomorrow. when the real heavy snow is tomorrow morning. let's give you an idea of how the clouds progressed in nearby mount airy. you can see it got dark and the snow actually built in over the last couple of hours. cutting down our visibility. we have one more loop here just to show you that the clouds have been racing in. they've been lowering and thickening, finally producing the snow in the last couple of hours.

if you trop one millie bar for 24 hours it's considered a bomb. this is going to drop 25 millibars between now and this time tomorrow. what that creates this concavity or bowl in the atmosphere, everything has to race in to fill into that center of the storm and that is going to create the winds. i suspect here 40 mile-per-hour wind gusts or higher and probably over 60 mile-per-hour winds at the beach. we'll be back in a few minutes with the latest on the storm as it moves in.

before 795, we have debris in the roadway, inner loop before hollands ferry road two lanes closed for snow removal. northbound 795 approaching owings mills boulevard, truck off to the right, blocking lanes. delays solid to the beltway, give yourself a few extra minutes. in baltimore county, a watermain break, ongoing repairs are blocking the two right lanes at westbound pulaski highway at contractors road.

. from the cab companies to hardware atmospheres local businesses are feeling the effect of the severe weather. >> snow in this type of environment presents unique challenge. it is tough for people in businesses like funerals who are trying to help families deal with an already stressful situation. we are joined now with more on how they are coping >> reporter: we all know life does not stop for this or any other storm. unfortunately neither does

death. that means real challenges for the people who make it their business to hand the dearly departed. today we talked to the funeral homes in east baltimore. they say the weekend weather and the storm we are getting now have postponed more than eight funeral services and they are expecting to delay more than that. many of the families who braved the weather to say good-bye have not been able to hold burials. crews spent the last two day on backhoes four wheelers trying to clear the roads. >> right now it is horrible. we couldn't have a service if we wanted to. >> what prevents that? >> we couldn't gig a grave now if we wanted to >> reporter: the people we talked with today at the funeral homes tell us the families they have been dealing with have been understanding considering what they have

extended through kent county, maryland and also kent county, delaware probably more in the order of six to 126789 this is an early look at accumulations. we are picking up a tremendous amount of snow in the north and west. winter storm warning newspaper maryland. this is a tough storm. even when this goes down tomorrow we'll have high winds and blowing snow to deal with. early look at the temperatures. you can see we are below freezing. we have dropped five degrees in the last three hours here as the snow has moved in. we are 28 baltimore. large storm. you can see the extent all the way back into the southern wisconsin extended southeast ward into the carolinas. this is going to be going on quite a while. again more than 24-hours worth of wintry weather. a quick look at the break down timeline. comes in overnight. we think sleet a good possibility through the late night hours here.

it is all snow on this side of the bridge it appears. as we go into the day tomorrow the storm picks up in intensity and wind will become more of a concern as colder air wraps in out of the northwest. it all goes to snow state-wide. >> here's the eye. >> it really does pick up. just to break it down overnight heavy snow. tomorrow heavy snow. windy. we wouldn't be surprised if we get a blizzard warning. 45 miles per hour you start to approach blizzard conditions if you get one inches of snow per hour. >> it has to be three consecutive hours with 35-mile-per-hour sustained gusts. back here on the bay we could be looking at winds over 60 miles per hour. we'll go back outside. wanted to show you some type lapse imagery to see how the

storm developed. very similar time frame to the one we dealt with last friday into saturday. this is ellicott city. they just cleared out the park lot at veteran's elementary school. snow comes in. it is really the last hour before sunset. we loose the solar energy and then the snow can do its thing like dropping temperatures. this is mount st. mary's. visibility down to a quarter of a mile. hope you are watching us. i know you are on the job. we have your weather station loaded up. they have reduced their visibility down to half a mile. they are currently sitting at 30 degrees. it is going to be one of those issues where who is what temperature? further north and west colder. fluffier snow this will blow around more. around the bay there will be a tight threshold who will end up

with the sleet moving in. places that get rain could be near annapolis and kent island. if that happens they have snow on the ground. you get the rain that causes melting. then you'll wind up with that stuff turning back to snow and refreezing. you have the winter mode up this now. >> you can see sleet back across the delmar peninsula. we know the wind is not going to be an issue the next few hours. as we go into the overnight tomorrow it is going to be a headache to dig out. >> those of you that have been around baltimore for a long time, you talk about the storm in 1966. ralph tells me he lived in parkville and snow drifts were up to the top of telephone poles. this is the historic stuff you see pictures about and you don't believe. we literally have two and a

half feet on the ground. if you bet this snow you get another ten to 20-inches that blows and drifts we are looking at stuff where you are covering up street signs. it is really hard to discern what the toptography is of the land. >> we'll be back in a couple more minutes to break this historic storm down as it comes in out of the west. now back to the news desk. fortunately despite the flakes coming down the roadways getting wet we don't have any accidents working around the major roadways at this time. that's always good news. delays piling up as people strioto get ahead of the storm. let me get you updated. we are seeing delays caused by the snow removal plows that are make their way around the beltway up and down the 95 corridor between baltimore city
