year-old boy who went under in the patuxent river late this afternoon. we'll bring you more information as soon as it becomes available. tonight, thousands of air travelers are still in limbo as a result of the icelandic volcano that continues to spew out blinding ash. its effects are still e decidete to stand back and just wait. >> reporter: in baltimore, travelers trying to get overseas have done plenty of waiting, the british airways flights have been grounded for nearly a week. considering each flight could carry nearly 200 passengers, that means as many as 1,000 people could have been impacted. that's not counting the military. >> every day, we have to show up and do what they tell us. >> reporter: ashley has been showing up every day since thursday. she's headed overseas but has been stranded in baltimore. luckily, her husband jack was close by to keep her company. >> it has been a blessing that they have been hear or that my husband has been here. he's been able to take me to anything that we needed to do

she will be reporting on how the backlogs are growing longer and longer. it begins tonight rate after abc 2 news at 6:00. you'll see that at 6:30. tonight, the nation is mourning the death of dr. dorothy height, a leading voice in the civil rights movement who fought for quality education, justice and human rights for everyone. officials here in maryland are remembering the pioneer. height served as a long time president of the national council of negro women and the leading female voice of the 1960 civil rights movement. she continued actively speaking out well into her 90 on women's issues and education. local leaders are reflecting on her life. senator ben cardin says dorr i had height was instrumental in the civil rights movement with her insistent voice for racial justice and gender equality in america. representative elijah cummings said of dr. heights, "in the press and history books, her time was often overshadowed by

prosecutor when his six-year term expires in september. his construction investigation of the former mayor led to her resignation earlier this year. another high provide file case is credited with the prosecution of those who bribed city school employees in 2005. he plans to retire to his second home in florida. a baltimore city police officer who pulled a gun in a baltimore county bar has been fired. the incident happened friday night in the corinthian lounge and restaurant. and how the police department responded. >> reporter: the owner of the bar and lounge says the whole incident is bizarre. witnesses say jamar barnes was sitting at this table with his mother. he confronted the server yell ready he was a city cop and threatened security. then he walked down windsor mill road and pulled the same attitude on county police. there was a struggle and barness with arrested and charged with several counts of

assaults. at 21, the rookie officer arguably lost his cool and now along with it, his job. >> internal affairs immediately suspended that officer, took his gun and badge. today was notified the police commissioner will be terminating him. he is an officer on probation. the bottom line is we won't tell rate any behavior that undermines the hard work of this agency. >> reporter: barns termination is welcomed news to the regulars here feeling barnes or any officer should not be above the law. i feel like it's not right. i don't care who it is, here or anywhere. >> reporter: . barnes is not the only officer being investigated. two other city officers this week were suspended. one for a domestic incident just today and another charged with an assault stemming from a new year's day incident in atlantic city. city police continue to investigate these latest cases. in baltimore, larry keebler, abc 2 news. >> barnes is 21 years old and still on probation with the

police department. he faces three counts of assault and one count of disorderly conduct. a maryland house committee chairman says he regrets that an ignition interlock bill failed. the bill was designed to crack down and never need out of committee because the chairman never called for a vote. volario wanted to alter the senate version of a bill but says he regrets that it failed. four more setbacks tonight for the lexus suv recall. just as toyota agreed to pay the $16 million fine, toyota announced it will recall 9400 lexus gs460 sales. consumer reports announced it as a do not buy. peter kits miller is is the president of the maryland automobile dealers association and understands the pressure dealers are under right now. >> we're sort of the front line

watch your labels and count your salt milligrams. that's why it's important to talk about your salt intake with your doctor. i'm christie paul. at 3 years old, dreg warner suffered a brain aneurysm that caused neurological disabilities. today he's overcoming the odds and ran in yesterday's boston marathon. >> reporter: 27-year-old greg wag is not your average runner. he suffers from severe nerve damage on the right side of his body. today he's training for the boston marathon at mcdaniel college where he started running several years ago. >> it's really my way of giving back and showing people what i've done and where i've gotten myself to show them that running a marathon is not impossible and really anything that you dream about doing and anything that you want to do,

no matter how impossible it seems, if you believe in it and don't doubt it's possible. >> reporter: at 3 years old, he suffered a brain aneurysm and stroke that nearly killed him. doctors didn't think he would survive, let alone grow up to run a 26-mile marathon. >> you can't see that he has severe neuroalmost damage down the entire right side of his body. what he's doing is literally impossible. >> reporter: greg endured physical therapy since he was 3 years old. he was never like the other kids in school, but that only made him stronger. living with disabilities that include loss of peripheral vision, greg is determined to succeed. he not only wants to run in the marathon, he wants to run an eight-minute mile, which is not easy. >> the way i view my life is each day i live is the healthiest and strongest i've known my body to be because the disability i live with is the only thing i've known.

temperature-wise, mid to upper 60s even now. earlier today, the numbers were closer to 70. we did get to 70 in a few spots clouding frederick. 61 from dover. 64 from pawtuxent naval air station. broader perspective across the mid-atlantic, philly got to 68, norfolk 67. richmond, virginia almost 70 degrees at the top of the hour. visible satellite pictures. you can see that boundary coming through and clearing back south of us that will come through later tonight. then we'll cloud up as the next disturbance moves in tomorrow during the day. you can soo he that disturbance is already putting the rain down across eastern kentucky and down into western north carolina down towards asheville. that's moving in our direction as we push into the day tomorrow. a couple things going on with the weather pattern. a little bit still of a cool one as we get high pressure spinning some cooler air. at least areas just north of maryland. then we've got the showers coming out of the south
