5:17 pm
permits. and speaking of weather, how far we have come from days like this. several inches of snow have already fallen in reno, nevada and around the sierra mountains. the department of transportation is telling drivers they can't drive unless they have snow tires that are equipped to handle the roads. now, the forecast certified most accurate by weather rate and maryland's most powerful doppler radar. >> out in that high terrain out west, it's amazing, they get snow up into mother's day and beyond. >> glad we are here. >> i think we had enough. one thing i'll say is we are going to see a few showers and quiet down by sunset. you get those peppering of showers probably again tomorrow afternoon too but widely scattered stuff so not bad. >> okay. >> until saturday and sunday. >> really? >> let's take a look at maryland's most powerful radar. april, that's how it goes sometimes. we have got a couple of light to moderate showers out there on the radar now.
5:18 pm
not a lot but just enough to possibly maybe make a road or two slick out there as you make your way out and about this evening. a couple of heavier showers back out west towards hagerstown, not seeing much thunder or lightening around these around the immediate baltimore area. one band of rain moving in through carroll county right now, will probably douse us with a couple of showers in a few minutes. much not. this is not a large amount of rain. right now pretty nice at the inner harbor. we have got the sunshine out there and 72 degrees right now, west-southwest wind 13, been gusty at times today, a cool front positioned north of maryland, just north of maryland that's making the weather here just a little more unstable, a little breezier, more prone to showers. through the day, you see early on before the instability kicked in, blue skies, then clouds built up a little bit, brief clearing going. clear skies and then you'll see a passing cloud area and maybe a couple of showers with that.
5:19 pm
wind gusts, earlier this afternoon up around 20, 25 miles per hour, so a little breezy at times but again on the whole, a nice looking april day, nice recovery from yesterday's temperatures. we were up to 72 today. out at bwi, that's the current temperature now as well. and we take you into the current satellite radar view and you can see just that light peppering of showers, again, that cool front is actually positioned up in the pennsylvania -- up into pennsylvania but you can get a little area of instability ahead of that cool front so even though you stay in the warm air, the front doesn't push through, you still get showers and even a possible thundershower when a front like that is so close by. clear and cool across the great lakes, that's where that cooler air is just stalled out right now. so this front will continue to trigger the chance of a shower or two each afternoon. this afternoon, friday afternoon, a few showers possible, better chance for rain saturday afternoon, warm air is going to hang out. that's the good news. but there will be approaching storm system that will mean a better chance for rain late in the weekend and lasting right
5:20 pm
into early next week. forecast model bears that out. tomorrow, partly cloudy skies, maybe a couple of showers. we don't pick up on it on her model but as we work into saturday, a better chance for scattered showers and this bigger rain area will come in on sunday so sunday looking like by far the wettest day of the week yet. tonight 46, showers coming to an end. then clearing skies overnight. tomorrow, mixture of clouds and sun, it will be a decent day. i think more sun early in the day, then a few afternoon clouds build up. tomorrow night, 47, clouds will be on the increase into the weekend and we take a look at that weekend forecast here, on our seven day and you can kind of see scattered showers, a better bet saturday and then sunday does look like a very rainy day as does monday. so catching up on our april rain big time, i think, both of those days. kelly. >> thanks a lot, wyatt. we have breaking news from baltimore city. police have arrested and charged two men in connection with the murder of charles bowman earlier this month. bowman was shot to death inside
