early voting went well with few glitches in all the state's 24 counties even though the turnout was slow dismal in some counties it did work. >> we're interested in the process and making sure the process we spent the money that was necessary to make sure the process worked well and i think it proved it was everything did go smoothly. the numbers are what they are. and i think each year that we do it will probably increase as people learn more about it. >> reporter: goldstein says limit estimates show early voting costs more than $3.4 million in state and local cost. the state spent more than a half million dollars most of the costs however fell into the county's lap more than $2.8 million. the county's costs covered a wide range with the bulk of the cost coming from election judge pay $1.1 million. signs commercials $646,000 to things like overtime foreperson nell, more than $480,000.
