ride. today the city is stepping in, arming you with information. not about taxes, crime or parking, they'll be talking about bedbugs, a problem plaguing the city. >> reporter: baltimore city health officials are trying to be proactive in the fight against bedbugs. they're basically holding a meeting right here at the war memorial building today at noon in downtown baltimore. basically they want to map out a strategy to fight against the bedbugs and also answer questions or concerns that people might have. the blood sucking critters turned up in frederick county in a library there. the county hired exterminators to make sure all of its libraries are free of the insects and in howard county, a couple has filed a $500,000 lawsuit over a bedbug infestation in an ellicot city apartment. the couple was forced to move

out of their apartment and throw away most of their possessions because their apartment was never properly treated for bedbugs. that meeting kicks off at noon today at the war memorial building. this is free to the public, but there is limited seating. you might want to get here early. reporting live in downtown baltimore, sherrie johnson, abc2 news. are we bracing for an attack? intel agents overseas have uncovered a terror plot against britain and france. emily schmitt's in washington with overnight developments for us. >> in paris tuesday night, officials evacuated the eiffel tower after a caller from a phone booth issued a threat. it was a false alarm, but the second evacuation in just two weeks. a senior u.s. official tells abc news there's a credible threat of a major series of new terror attacks on britain, france, germany and possibly the united states. the information comes after

month after discovering the plat. 6:34 in ohio, a toddler's birthday party became a nightmare when a brawl erupted involving about 75 people. the fight was between the birthday girl's father and the mother's boyfriend and fueled by alcohol. it quickly escalated into something huge. broken beer bottles injured more than a dozen people. >> kept thinking there was blood and broken glass. we were told there was one gentlemen at the back of the room, continued to throw bottles until he didn't have anymore. >> five people were taken to the hospital. the toddler's father was arrested for disorderly conduct while intoxicated. children's services have gotten involved in the whole thing, they're investigating since there were about 30 kids at the party. there's a language barrier and

new government data shows that women in the workplace,

it's improved, but just marginally. even though women on the whole are gaining an education, they're still not substantially making more dollars for their work. according to a new report, the pay gap narrowed by just two cents in 2000 to 2007 with female managers now earning 81 cents for every dollar earned by their male manager counterparts. that's compared to 79 cents before 2000. >> women are stuck. despite decades of efforts to create opportunities for advancement, deep inequities persist. >> there's a bright spot, more women are gaining education, we're closing the education gap, but not the pay gap. >> women in senior management positions were more likely to lose their jobs during the recession than men who held similar positions. let's get a job at toys

brooke's dad called 911. corporal luke ringler happened to be a minute away from the home. he jumped into action and performed cpr on the girl. as a father of two young kids himself, it was tough to put his emotions aside but did what he was trained to do. >> i'm glad he was there. i owe him a lot. >> life is fragile. you have to love them while you have them. >> the corporal says everyone should take time to learn cpr. meanwhile, brooke is recovering at a hospital in baltimore and could be released as early as today. in the studio, linda sow, abc2 news. baltimore county police say they suspect foul play in the death of a man in cockeysville. they're waiting for a report from the medical examiner on the body found late monday night in the front of a home on stone gate court. no word on the victim's identity right now. police have no suspect and no motive. investigators say weather was a big factor in the desk of

a veteran baltimore city police officer. james fowler was killed when his truck crashed in a barrier along route 322 in central pennsylvania. fouler was on his way to penn state to participate in a training program on investigations. he leaves behind a wife and two children. a west friendship man who pleaded guilty to driving while impaired after he struck and killed a 16-year-old bicyclist has been sentenced to six months in jail. police found heroin in his pocket. he admitted to being addicted to the drug. 6:48 right now. the gang leader convicted of ordering a teenager's murder because he thought the other gang member was gay will spend the rest of his life behind bars. timothy rawlings was convicted in may for his role in the murder of steven parish because
