and how long until we're finally out of the woods, all that many coulding back to you. >> the this weather has definitely impacted all of us. we have live team coverage from annapolis back to baltimore county. people are dealing with a lot of water in a short period of time. let's talk about what is going on in rosedale tonight. portions of poe las key highway are open again this evening after flooding, and other serious problems near rose dale avenue earlier today. around noon they brought out a swift water rescue team but never actually had to use that team. unfortunately the team skill couldn't help people along this sex of the poe lags key highway. local streams began to swell forcing water through the doors. double businesses were flooded with as much as 4, 5 feet of water. workers didn't have time to grab supplies or belongings, they just had to run for safety. >> now it's like this, so to me it is amazing. the water just rows reel fast,

we didn't even get out, it was a mess. >> coming up at 6:00 we're going to show you the extent of damage to some of these local businesses. well abc 2 was on the scene in parkville as cruz got a call for a missing 12-year-old. we're happy to report that a girl did fall in the water but was able to get out and police and fire crews found her safe and sound, she is at home tonight. it's a good time to remind your children that because of all this rain the water is rising and moving fast so the best advice is to just stay away. well abc 2 news christian schaefer is live in mount washington tonight, he is there keeping an eye on the jones false and all the businesses in that area are doing, gearing up for the worst. let's check in with christian. >> reporter: it seems like they have been dropping the levels a little bit, they've had to congress down the businesses in the washington millionaire. i'm standing on the smith avenue bridge, that police officer there has closed that part of the bridge down because this entire section of mount

washington, d.c. is closed down, actually all these businesses back here, there is a whole foods, a coffee shop, a couple little boutique, they are closed down and closed down this afternoon because earlier, take a look at the jones false right now, you can see it is still much higher than it normally is. earlier it was even higher than that. if you can see above that wall that's false road up there, the traffic has really backed up. slow getting around. people are taking their time. some people have been coming down thinking some of these businesses are open. trying to turn on to smith avenue bridge, they can't do it because of course it is closed, that leads to more backups. that's the thing that's going on here, in addition to people coming out and trying to take a look at the water, they live in the neighborhood and want to come down and lack at it. never seen it this high before, we talked to several of them. it's just an interesting day. but right now what they've had to do is close down this section of the mount washington millionaire, the 9 businesses are in it. they talked about that decision a little earlier this

afternoon. >> rising water, we're not signature seeing the watery creed at all, we thought it was necessary to take precautions to evacuate the cars out of this area and make sure that we reduced the potential of property damage in this area. this is a low flood plane area. >> back live now again the jones fall running under the other pledge into mount washington, the kelly avenue bridge, that one is open, you can see the cars going bye it, the reason it's open is mount washington village, those businesses over in that area, those are open. they were not evacuated and no homes were evacuated in the mount washington area i therapy. just the mount washington mill businesses were evacuated around 2:00 this afternoon. the other big concern is fell's point the mayor spoke about that and said she is hoping they move the cars out of that area because the floodwaters might come up. they opened two parking lots,

the garage, you can park in those overnight until 8:00 a.m. for free to make sure you get your car off the street. as we have seen in past storms that water comes up quickly and they are concerned with that next storm coming in they may see something like that happening coming in tonight. the mayor is having another news conference at 5:30, at the city emergency operations center so we might get more information about how things are expected to shape up the rest of the evening, for now we're live in mount washington, christian schaefer, abc 2 news. >> thanks christian. doesn't matter where you go, there is water everywhere, when the storm is hitting with the bay with high winds and rain, don harrison has been on both sides of the bay, he is live with more details. don? >> reporter: kelly it is raining out here now, we're getting quite a bit of water. i'm here on doc street, it is closed right now, i'm in between doc street bar and grille, armadillos, a lot of rain, a lot of the places people have to deal with the rain out there, on the chesapeake bay, when the bay

and the wind comes up, the bay swells when it comes into town. my boots are 14" high. i haven't checked yet. at this point where i am the water level is almost 14". it is supposed to get a little higher. the restaurants and businesses are dealing with it, this isn't the first storm. annapolis has taken a lot of rain so far, some streets like doc street have been closed due to flooding, the city's emergency management center has been fully activated and is trying to do what they can for residents and businesses downtown. sandbags have been distributed to businesses. giveses have been through this before. appropriately named "storm brothers" is prepared. >> we'll be able to stay ahead of it with our pumps, we'll be able to keep our store dry. >> this kind of weather brings out the localities to see the action. some take it in stride. >> the ducks are having fun and we're going to wait around ourselves. >> it's enough to make we want to get on a float and come down eagle alley on my back here if

other shelter is at the at-ease seniors center located at 7401halibird avenue. cruz have been working hard all day to keep the power on for customers but when it comes to heavy rain the odds are stocked against them. there are still over 19,000 folks without power but as we said they have been working hard all day and right now restore power to 18,000 customers, though there are actually a lot more people in the dark at one point. just as the morning got underway the montgomery county there was a major brush back for us, 26 people, because of the weather, including high school students were hurt when a metro bus wheeled into another bus in silver springs. the crash happened just after 7:00 this morning at university boulevard and burnett avenue. eight students were involved in the crash, investigators say their injuries appear to be non- life-threatening. abc2news.com is the place to be for all you need to know on the weather we're expecting today.

coming in at 30 miles per hour wind gust right now, annapolis right around 34 and mound airy, 31, westminster 34. and bel air 23, aberdeen 26, alston 25. this is going to be the scenario as we go through the rest of the evening, so be prepared for what we have because we're going to get some more rain, that's what i was telling kelly. we did get a bit of a break, lots of moisture flowing in earlier today. edge mere, i believe it was, 7.67, i'm going to show you those totals again in a little while. in the meantime we're looking at the rain on maryland's most powerful radar, we can see some of the lighter rain, the green, not so bad, the lighter rain coming in around the eastern shore once again. but as we look to the south here, that's what we're going to start to get the heavier rain moving in once again. as we get into those reds, that's when we're talking about 1 to 2 1/2" rates, rainfall rates, an hour. if we get that again we're definitely going to be in some more trouble.

so with what we've gotten already we do have some flood warnings in effect across the area, basically everywhere, what we're also concerned with is the high tide factor, we're looking at fell's point, 12:53:00 a.m. is the next high tide. then annapolis 11:14:00 p.m. this evening, so we're looking at more rain moving in as we look at the satellite and radar, i'm gonna zoom out for you, you can kind of see where we're going to finally get a break in the action. we can sigh and wait for that. but in the meantime we still have that rain going to be working its way into the area as we go in the time. as i was telling kelly, this is what i was saying, the problem is we have all that moisture from nicole, then what's happening is we do have this area, this low pressure is riding along old frontal boundary, we're getting what we've got today. that conveyor belt is doing what it's doing. as we check out the forecast we're going into time and things are going to start to improve as we go into 6:00, 7:00, things are going to start to improve from the west to the

east. as we work our way into tomorrow morning things are going to start to look much better. back towards the west here we're going to be looking at maybe a frontal boundary trying to work its way in here as we go into sunday. overnight tonight, 65 degrees, more rain and flooding, then we're going to be seeing improvements as we head into tomorrow morning, morning rain, breezy and also partly cloudy. by tomorrow night we're looking at 51, mostly clear and cooler. all right. kelly, what do you have for us? >> all right. thanks lynette. in other news today the defense in the ken harris murder trial called its final witness and the jury heard final arguments before it will determine the fate of the three suspects in the murder of the former city councilman. harris died a year ago when he was shot during an armed robre. jeff haeger joins us with the developments in the day's trial. jeff? >> reporter: prosecutors told the 12-member jury that the evidence leaves no doubt over the men responsible for harris' death. through surveillance video from that fateful night they pointed out three men identified by a

secured guard at halves ma gainey walking past the new haven lounge in 10 minute intervals casing the business they argued before the robbery and shooting. dna evidence found in the skull mask worn by the triggerman and on latex gloves bandannas and other clothing also points to the suspects. asked if the tem could confuse jurors for the complicated dna evidence he had this to say. >> only god can answer that question. i've always wanted to be on a adjuster but i've never been able to. this adjuster has been asked a lot of glad questions and i'm sure they are anxious to get to the committees once the closing arguments are complete. >> the defense tried to raise questions surrounding the collection of that dna and the lab that produced that result. they also pointed to an unidentified fingerprint on the hood of harris' car, saying it leaves doubt whether they charged the right men in this case. anyone could have touched the car in the time harris owned up leading up to his measure
