up. rosie. the family of a man killed on a jet ski in mexico near the u. s. border is demanding answers they believe mexican authorities have done very little to recover his body. the victim's wife says her husband was murdered right before her eyes but police in mexico say they have no evidence an attack even took place and are wondering if his wife was somehow involved. the family denies that claim. diana alvar has more. >> reporter: as hundreds gathered to celebrate the life of david hartley his family struggles to cope with his death and disappearance of his body. >> it shouldn't be that hard to get him home. >> it feels like another continue then. >> it's just right over there. >> reporter: right over there is south enlike a reservoir on the u. s. mexico border that's where david's wife tiffany says the two were ambushed by mexican pirates. tiffany escaped, david did not. >> are you sure your husband got shot? >> reporter: nearly a week

later divide's body is still missing. the mexican foreign relations ministry has issued a statement saying the country is quote committed to the investigation of those acts. they have been in contact with the u. s. to coordinate the search and recovery of his body. however abc news visited the area where the shooting happened and saw no sign of any search efforts. texas governor rick perry says he personally contacted the president of mexico to give him 48 hours to report back regarding the search efforts and hopefully news about david's body. perry says this incident is a sign the drug wars in mexico are putting americans in the crosshairs. he wants the obama administration to call up an additional thousand national guards men to patrol the border. homeland defense secretary janet napolitano says she's been in contact with the mexican government. she's been reassured that local officials are searching for

david's body. now a developing story, the governor of hungary says it could take one year to clean up the toxic sludge following a dam break ate chemical plant. four people killed hundreds evacuated after the incident. the spill swamped several villages over an area of 16 square miles. the state of emergency has been declared and officials are calling the spell an ecological disaster. >> people have died, people have been injured. but that's our first concern. this is a serious problem. >> hungary's environmental minister says they are desperately trying to keep it from politeing the danube river. a woman is shaken but unharmed after being rescued from snarl dogs in a philadelphia car lot. the salesman was helping her look for a car. a little while later she went to find him again that's when she noticed the door was locked

economy. the dow jones industrial average rose 23. nasdaq fell 19. the s & p 500 fell less than a point. since the beginning of september the dow has jumped more than 900 points. stocks are the leading indicators showing that the economy has turned acorner out of the recession. the big question is will the new jobs follow. here's abc's t. j. winick with more. >> reporter: the dow jones appears to be heading towards 11,000 and hasn't reached those heights since spring. does a rejuvinated wall street mean a recovery on main street. >> sometimes we'll feel good sometimes not quite as good but we're moving in right direction. >> reporter: investors are seeing strength in the service sector and last week's job numbers were better. last month many analysts were predicting doom and gloom of a double dip pinpoint recession. >> the fed heard though predictions they are going to do whatever they need to to make sure the economy continues on its growth cycle and the

markets believe them. >> reporter: the forecast is also bright beyond u. s. shores. international monetary funds predicts the world economy will spent 4.8% this year and 4.2% next year. that's after a rare decline in 2009. >> it's sluggish in advance countries it's much stronger in emerging and developing economies. >> reporter: namely china u. s. manufacturers contend the chinese yen is under valued by as much as 40% giving china's companies a major competitive edge. >> more market oriented exchange policies and policies reduce reliance on exports and strengthen domestic demands. >> reporter: 3rd quarter earnings are forecast to be much weaker than last quarter and there is expected to be bad news out of the next jobs report which is out friday that is the last jobs before the midterm hecks.

all of a sudden it shut off. it wouldn't turn back on the tv was making a clicking noise after that it basically just died on us. >> reporter: while we were talking watch what happens. >> what just happened? it turned off. >> it turned off on its own. >> reporter: then the dreaded clicking sound. so i called samsung and the spokeswoman told me the company would fix the tv at no charge even though it was out of warranty. samsung would not comment on the dozens of similar complaints posted on internet complaint boards it said in the statement to us it would be misleading to make an assumption this herb eastbound i you is common this could be the result of normal wear and tear however electronics blogs suggest pastors that fail typically 200 to 300-dollar repair job. youtube videos show how to preplace the capacitors.
