accident involving a struck pedestrian at groveland avenue and hillsdale road. an accident at washington boulevard and mlk and down in hail thorp a crash at landsdown and hollins ferry road. 6:31. we will go to hurlock on the eastern shore. six family members were in the living room and they were dike on the floor because bullets were flying through the window. mother crawled on the floor to the phone to call 911 for help. sherrie johnson tells how's in trouble for all this. sherrie. >> reporter: a lot of people in dorchester county are shaking their heads this morning in disbelief after two teenagers were arrested in a murder plot. a teenage girl is accused of plotting with her boyfriend to murder her family. ten days ago, the family was in the living room when the glass in the sliding glass door was shattered by bullets. six family members dove to the floor and the mother crawled to the phone to call 911. deputies responded to that home just a day earlier on a

burglary case. they arrested 16-year-old william collins junior. the boyfriend of the teenage daughter in the family katelyn kirchoff. >> they found the cell phone with text messages plotting the murder. >> certainly a bizarre occurrence. certainly something you wouldn't expect to happen around here. again i. can't understand why two young 16-year-olds for any reason would want to do this to anybody much less people they know. and certainly you know, they have ruined their entire life because of these actions. >> reporter: authorities say kirchoff confessed to the plot. both teens are charged with attempted first and second degree murder charges. both are still in custody right now unable to post bail set at half a million dollars. in the studios, sherrie johnson, abc2 news. police in arkansas say a woman drove her car into a

laundromat. she was drunk and the incident was caught on tape. you can see the dark colored car coming at you over the curb straight through the glass into a row of dryers. the woman argued with police when they got on the scene and then demanned to take her to jail because she was drunk. a former prez presidential candidate john edwards edwards is being investigated accuseded of using campaign money to cover up an affair he had with a staffer rielle hunter. his attorney says a sizable number of subpoenas have been issued in north carolina. the news of the affair broke in 2007. things got worse for him when he admitted he had fathered a child with hunter. a claim he previously denied. john and his wife edwards separated after more than 30 years of marriage. a 24-year-old actress and write her attended northwestern university will move into chicago's museum of science and industry on october 20th. the msi announced the month at the museum contest back in

thanks for joining thus morning at 6:39. we are thinking pink all through oth and it's for breast cancer awareness month. last night, concord point lighthouse in havre de grace took on a pink glow. the folks with komen maryland say it is a fitting tribute to those fighting breast cancer but also a powerful reminder for all women who make breast health a priority. >> you know a. lighthouse is always something that you think about as you know saving ships. and so riley like the idea that it's going to be pink for breast cancer awareness month. hopefully women will see the lighthouse and that it's pink and think why is it pink? breast cancer awareness. maybe i should schedule a mammogram. >> i think it looks pretty with the water and everything. light house will continue to glow pink for the rest of the month. >> that's great. i love that. listen, the numbers are in from somebody's komen race for the cure which you saw here on abc2. we had 1500 people register for the race and participants will

6:47 right now. all new this morning, we have a 16-year-old and her boyfriend behind bars accused of plotting to kill the girl's family. this happened in northern dorchester county in hurlock. police were called to the house after 16-year-old william collins walked in and started shooting. no one was hurt. . >>i can't undertanned why two young 16 yearlys for any reason would want to do this to anybody much less people they know. and certainly, you know, they have pretty much ruined their entire life because of the actions. >> the police discover the murder plot through text messages that collins exchanged with his girlfriend katelyn kirchoff. the couple are behind bars on half a million dollars bail. the woman accused of killing a pregnant woman from anne arundel county and cutting the unborn baby from her womb has pled if they to murder charges. -- pled guilty to murder charges. she will serve life in prison without parole.

in june of 2008, the body of heather knifely was found pledgeoned to death in oregon. knifely moved from edge watter to oregon to be with her fiancee. baby was due in a month. 6:48. jury deliberation continue for a 5th day in the murder trial of a city councilman ken harris even though the jury says it is deadlocked. the jurors told the judge that they had been unable to agree on charges of first and second degree murder against gary collins jerome william and charles mcgahee she. the judge said try again. three face counts of more than 2 dozen crimes connect to the robbery and murder of harris at the new haven lounge in september 2008. in prins george's county, dozens of police cadets are investigated accused of cheating on academy tests. it includes 146 police officers from three class since july of last year. at least 34 officers are facing specific cheating allegations.

the allegation is that the 34 were given answers by an instructor to a number of the tests administered prior to graduation. that raised suspicion among some officials. >> not only could it call into question the truth telling abilities but could call into question the legality of any arrest they might make. >> i am asking the public, the police to stand behind them and give them support while we try to figure out what's going on here. >> a list of the officers in question could be released soon and those officers will be taken off the streets as early as today. they may be retrained or potentially even fired and the head of the police union says it's too early to judge. stop the sitting around. that's the message the president plans to deliver to democrats as he starts campaigning less than a month away from the election and the first to is beautiful bowie. linda so has a preview for us
