a new report says that teachers at the new maryland facility was caused by multiple systemic security failures. the report sites outdated buildings and not enough security cameras for staff as well as failure of the agency to oversee safety issues. hannah wheeling found dead in february at the facility. a boy 13 years old at the time is charged as a juvenile with murder and attempted rape. the department of juvenile services released a response that reads in part: "d.j. svpt reacted quickly to this terrible incident, thoroughly investigating, and be moving swiftly to make sure that nothing like it occurs again." discussion on a topic brought to light by recent events at rutgers university. a recent study says gay teens are four times more likely to be bull lid than straight teenagers. the study comes at a time when tolerance appears to be so high. why the disconnect? although it was the incident at rutgers that grabbed headlines,

the largest drug bust in the department's history. investigators confiscated 478 marijuana plants and 406 pounds of processed marijuana. according to police the suspects built a two-story marijuana growing operation inside a warehouse. police also seized $12,000 in cash. a little more than an hour ago president obama joined martin o'malley at buoy state university to give o'malley a boost in his rematch with republican governor bob ehrlich. dough litigantsler says, if marylanders don't step up, the president could be surrounded by republicans governors, a reference to bob mcconnell up to the south of the nation's capital. the family crisis center in baltimore county got a big financial boost thanks to federal funding. the center received a hundred thousand dollars to help stop domestic violence. the nonprofit in dundalk hah has been instruction link with

labor market. the dow closed down 19 point, the s&p rose 3, and the nasdaq 500 fell by 2. mortgage applications to buy homes are up. they rose last week to the highest level since may, jumping more than 9%. but the mortgage bankruptcy's association says overall applications dropped to a tenth of a percent from a week earlier due to the decline in the applications to refinance homes. rates at or near the lowest they have been in decades as investors shifted their money into safer treasury bonds. and applications for unemployment benefits are down. they fell last week for the fourth time in five weeks. many say layoffs are declining. and american airlines calling on about 800 furloughed employees, about 1% of its workforce as it adds flights from international routes. american has launch new trance atlantic business with spanish airline iberia, and is working on a deal with japan airlines as well. one manufacturer is pulling
