finally getting a financial boost from the state. last summer the unit came under fire for the amount of quote unfounded reps reported in the city. now the mayor's asked for the grant to help fix this problem. brian kuebler joins us with more. >> reporter: rosie the governor's office awarded the city $278,000. it is money that will go directly to training and new equipment to better investigate and solve sexual assault in the city. the mayor said she applied for the grant to help the police department and the mayor's office overhaul the sexual assault unit. >> offer training for our officers and detectives, it will help us clear up the backlog with testing the dna testing we have to move the cases forward. we're going to hire a coordinator to turn around the investigation more smoothly. >> reporter: the sexual assault unit continues to go

through major changes. it is under the watchful eye of a new major whose detectives have already worked and solve several cases one of which we'll highlight coming up tonight at 6:00. brian kuebler abc 2 news. they are asking for your help in identifying two men behind a home invasion robbery in abington next week. jeff joins us with more. >> reporter: they posed as door-to-door salesmen. when the victim balked at their pitch they forced their way through his front door. >> they never said they had a weapon never showed a weapon. >> reporter: faced with a pair of brazen men in late teens or early 20s pushing their way inside his home. charles johnston pushed back. >> most of it is healed up i got a cut on my head and on my face from where they -- when i struggled with them. and they pushed me into a picture that was hanging on the

treat the body may have something to learn from those who treat the spirit. dr. timothy johnson has more. >> reporter: getting senior citizens to exercise is part of keeping them healthy. african-american women make up the least active segment of our population. a new study finds one way to keep them moving may be to mobilize their faith. african-american women are among the most religious people in the u. s. researchers from ucla took 62 subjects from three mostly african-american churches and divided them into two groups. one was put on a program of weekly 45 minute exercise sessions followed by exercise education, scripture readings and group prayer. the other group got the exercise, but without the faith based reinforcement. after four weeks the authors found that physical activity levels had increased by 78% in
