in a statement the mayor said says quote i am deeply relieved to learn that justice was delivered today in a baltimore city circuit court that the individuals responsible for the senseless violent murder of ken harris will be held to account for their actions. >> searching for leads in a home invasion robbery. police in hartford county are asking for your help with the victim's help police have come up with composite drawings of two men in their late teens or early 20s who forced their way inside of an abington home. the robbery occurred at 2:30 in the afternoon and the victim says they were posing as door- to-door salesmen. >> they were coming around the neighborhood posing as giving estimates for home improvements, which is pretty common around here. they come around giving you estimates to do gutters or siding or windows or any stuff like that. that's what they were posing as. >> the victim suffered minor

day. much more on your weekend forecast we'll break down the temperatures through columbus day coming up. in tonight's economic outlook according to the labor department things are still bleak on the unemployment front. analysts say that's because more people are still out this looking for work. the labor day department reports that private employers added 64,000 positions last month but a wave of government layoffs led to a net loss of 95,000 jobs. president barack obama concedes the tough days continues for millions of unemployed. the you number of homes being sold dropped. buyers purchased 400 fewer houses townhomes and condos last month than a year ago. this is the third month in a row of double digit declines after the spike of buying that came with the federal homebuyer tax credit. the embattled sexual assault unit inside the baltimore city police department is getting some help from the state. now earlier this summer it was found the department had a large amount of quote unfounded rates. and rapes and some cases were

not being properly investigated. the city has worked hard to fix this unit, the state is chipping in. >> reporter: crime does not wait for a change in leadership. last week police investigated two attempted rapes that happened within minutes of each other according to police oscar lopez perez attempted to rape a woman in the 200 block of south register street in east baltimore. she got away, but perez made off with some of her belongings. just minutes later detectives say he pulled another woman into patterson park and attempted to rape her. according to charging documents perez used the make up of his previous victim to lure his second victim back to a stray mattress in the park. she too got away and police say it was patrolman working in concert with detectives that night that were able to make the connection and apprehend perez. >> this is as good as we can

investigate cases it's true collaboration between patrol and cid. they are attacking the problem from both sides. >> reporter: this is one of the new cases solved underneath the new leadership of the sexual assault unit. a unit undergoing massive change to correct the problems of the past, a change now funded in part by the state. >> it's giving us additional resources that we can make sure we're doing a good job and doing it in a timely fashion. >> reporter: the mayor's office announced a grant from the governor's office to help in sexual assault investigations. $278,000 toward new equipment victims advocate and training for officers. money the mayor's office applied for to help right the possible wrongs of the old sexual assault unit. >> yeah, we knew once we took a look at the process and opened up the hotline, the hotline to get the story to see if there was more cases we could investigate we realized we could do better. >> reporter: an effort under new management with hundreds of
