major campaign swing with the election just weeks away. >> democratic senate seats are most at risk in five states, including pennsylvania. that's where the president spoke over the weekend. emily schmidt is joining us from washington with more. >> today, the president is going to head to miami, key meeting of the democratic national committee then he's off to continue what will be a very busy week on this campaign trail. >> reporter: first stop, philadelphia, and it's a scene that will be repeated in at least ten states this week alone. president obama, the vice president and even the first lady all headlining rallies meant to energize the base, especially the youth vote. >> let's show washington one more time, change doesn't come from the top. it comes from the bottom. >> reporter: but that message is a harder sale than two years ago, especially for democrats in the house. a respected political report just listed 12 incumbent house members most likely to lose.

and democrats have seen a wave of republican money which they blame on a recent supreme court ruling, ending many of the restrictions on campaign spending by corporations. >> money overall is tilted in republicans' favor. >> it's incredible, republicans benefiting from secret foreign money. >> reporter: now a blistering democratic ad accusing republicans of hiding contributions. >> they won't release any information about where their campaign mon is coming from. and that's at the core of the problem here. >> this is a desperate political ploy from the white house to distract attention from the failed economic policies. >> reporter: president on a cross country sprint to the election, now just 22 days away. and the president is going to be talking about the nation's mayors and governors. the plan is as touted as something that will help put the unemployed back to work.

rob and mike? >> emily schmidt live in washington. thank you. one republican candidate not expected to oust the democrats is new york's carl paladino. who is running for governor. he's sparking new controversy this morning after a campaign stop in brooklyn. paladino boasted that he had boycotted new york's gay pride parade and then he turned to the examples of what parents and schools should show to children. >> we don't want them to be brainwashed that they thing that homosexuality is an equally valid action. it isn't. >> paladino did say that his approach is to live and let live, but has vowed as governor, he would veto any bill that could legalize gay marriage or civil unions. also a republican candidate from ohio is also finding himself in hot water. "the atlantic" magazine said rich ihop wore a nazi uniform. he said he's just likes history

unquestionab unquestionably, the leader. what they did do which is new to us, they put the general between the two of them first saluted to kim jong-il and then saluted his son. until recently kim jong-un was an obscurity. never seen in public, a mystery even to north koreans. he is believed to be about 27 years old, the youngest of kim jong-il's three sons. his two older brothers passed over. regarding as unfate for command. >> he's most like him in terms of personality, temperament and everything else. so just based on that we're not looking at a sort of a different north korea. we're looking at sort of a mini-me. >> reporter: he is said to be a fan of american basketball. last month, the younger kim began his military career at the lofty rank of four-star general. now, he's poised to take the helm of a reclusive rogue state armed with nuclear weapons.

bob woodruff, abc news. north korea. over the weekend the wife of chinese dissident liu xiaobo visited him in prison to tell him he won the nobel peace price. this morning, agents are standing guard outside her apartment where he is under virtual house arrest. he took place in protests in tiananmen square. he's been in prison ever since. the stepmother of a missing girl is now believed to be a person of interest in the missing girl's case. ten-year-old zahra clare baker. she was first reported missing saturday. at first, investigators considered it a case of stranger abduction, but then they found inconsistencies in the stepmother's story. sea world orlando is celebrating their newest arrival, 7-foot long, 350-pound

>> reporter: attached to the winch, the rescue capsule. a very cramped 21-inch tube. if all goes according to plan, they will start to bring the men out on wednesday. officials say the miners are on remarkably good spirits. >> we begun to talk to them regarding the proper order of rescue. and they were fighting against us yesterday because every one of them wanted to be at the end of the line, not at the beginning. >> reporter: that follows this dramatic moment saturday morning as the rescue drill broke through the cement below. on the surface, a spontaneous celebration agency the drilling team that has worked day and night got the news. the tolling of the bell announced the breakthrough to the family at the makeshift camp that has been their home for the 65 nervous days. the 33 miners will be emerging not only to their families, but to an army of journalists.

more than 1,000 accredited media here from 33 different countries. they've come to this remote desert to report here on this real life drama. because there is so much interest, they are going to offer a live satellite free to any broadcaster around the world. what that means that these 33 men who went into this mountain side august 5th as poor, an anonymous miners will be watched by as many as those who watch the academy awards or the world cup. >> and that rescue capsule is expected to rotate 350 degrees from 10 to 12 times as its finally pulled to the surface. police in mexico say they're looking for two brothers in connection with the shooting death of an american jet skier. david hartley hasn't been seen his wife reported the attack. almost two weeks ago. at first, the authorities doubted the wife's claims since

nobody or jet ski has been found. now, the mexican government has launched a federal investigation into the incident. the number of potentially dangerous mistakes by air traffic controllers has soared over the last year.
