zone could get clipped with more wet road. the roads are wet this morning. so let's see what's happening to your commute right now. let's get the latest from kim brown. >> reporter: luckily, the wet roads is are the-- are not affecting traffic in the harford zone. we have some fire activity reported in rosedale on roscoe near the campus of essex community college. that could impact you in terms of delays. looking at the major roadways, route 50 look good at sandy point. no issues across the bay bridge in either direction. 50 is all clear all lanes open as you make your way towards the capital beltway no problems towards 97 as well. the beltway and 83 in just a few moments. right now, jamie, back to you. >> thanks. 5:31. the final tests have been run and rescue capsule is ready and around dawn tomorrow we should see the trapped miners reunited with their families. emory schmidt has details. >> reporter: -- emily schmidt has details. >> reporter: after more than two months watch the trapped miners

from 2,000 feet from above the ground ♪ [ music ] >> reporter: families are gathering now to pray a face-to-face reunion are hours away. the hope intensified after workers successfully testified the rescue capsule along the escape route carrying bags of fans to the miners. it didn't loosen dust along the way. >> this test has been very successful. we sent tv cameras inside and we are pretty sure that the cage will behave properly being designed during the rescue process. >> reporter: the trip will not be easy. the men will be in a capsule only slightly larger than the diameter of a basketball hoop. riding in a twisting capsule 20 minutes to the earth's surface. they will wear an oxygen mask while rescuers monitor their heartbeat and body temperatures. once at the top, they will be flown to a hospital where these beds are prepared for them and

reportedly hit by the transformer character bumble bee while some fans were watching the taping going on in d.c. yesterday. and both drivers are expected to be okay. anne arundel county police are investigating a shooting that seriously injured a man in severn at a party around 1:15 sunday morning. witnesses say they heard several shots before a man was found on the street. two vehicles were seen speeding away. a grad student is out on bail after being charged with sexually assaulting a female student at the university of maryland college park. police say the assault happened last week in one of the busiest place on campus at the stamp student union. victim says a graduate student identified as adam march ten ease cruz ran his hand underthe -- ubd a skirt of a student at tearwell of a food court and they arrested the suspect on the same floor. >> it's likely it could happen anywhere. the stam sp a heavily populated area. and there are upwards of 55 or

look out for the chance of scattered storms erupting this afternoon. now for the traffic, here's kim. >> reporter: thanks. yes, drivers are going to be take it easy on the northeast side of the beltway. no accidents at this time. we have reports of some fire activity in rosedale on roscoe boulevard on essex community college campus and water mains breaks in the area. and another ruptured water main on harford road has that closed between joppa and northwind. so they are dealing with the partial road collapsed argone closed between the alameda and loch raven and frederick road a utility problem blocking the westbound lanes. two-way traffic gets by approaching the beltway. linda so has the latest details on one of the top stories. >> reporter: it was heated and tense. i am linda so, the candidates for governor faced off in the first live debate and it was not pretty. crews worked hard overnight to repair two breaks in a 12-inch water main break. i am sherrie johnson, and i will have the latest on the repairs

at abc2news.com and click on the political section under the news tab. you're going to notice increased patrols in several areas in baltimore city following a violent weekend. there have been seven murders since this past friday including one where 78-year-old man was found stabbed to death inside the home. now the commissioner met with his district commanders to assess what happened. police say violence on week sends down 16% compared to those last year. crediting stepped up patrols for relatively peaceful weekends over the past month and a half. >> it's kind of like setting course on a sale. ever -- sail ever so often you have to readjust the ship and that's what we are doing here today. >> city police plan a major announcement regarding new funding to find illegal guns. have you noticed water main breaks happen in the worst places. this is chewing up harford road near joppa. let's go to sherrie johnson live in parkville. good morning. >> reporter: good morning,

jammy. there's good news right now. the crews have repaired the two water main breaks. take a look behind me here. you can see that the road harford road reopened. i got to tell you we are here in parkville where the public works crews worked all night to repair the two breaks and a 12-inch water main. 100 homes were without water because of that break. and we are told that water has been restored to those homes. now this all happened on monday afternoon on harford road between joppa and north winds road. crews managed to repair both of those breaks first thing this morning about 5 a.m. and crews say old pipes probably caused that water main break. and this break is in a residential area near carney elementary school and several other businesses. and crews say that it was very important to get those water main breaks repaired so they can get the buses through this morning and they were really trying to hurry up and get it repaired for rush hour traffic. so, once again, harford road

of rain. heavier around trenton new jersey and they got clobbered and you saw the hail storm jamie showed you up towards brooklyn and the same store that caused a delay to the jet and vikings game last night. overall that, boundary tries to shift to the south. there's storms behind that. so the boundary itself is far to the north and slowly edging in our direction. and reinforcing pokes of energy. it will strike to work through. but there's clearing involved and it's not an all day event but there will be a threat around heading toward the afternoon. showers to the north and we will watch and while watching the bond i slide through, the area of low pressure back across the central plains will slowly edge eastbound and park itself and that's going to reignite a very stormy and colder weather pattern for us. we are pushing some warmer air ahead of the bondry, the come winds will win out. and it is cool air filtering in behind the storm and that's the one that works the way to the east. and locks on top us. temperatures will go below normal as we are bringing in

the chance of some steadier rains towards the end of the week like we need that right? let's bring it back home and watch the band of rain and some storms to try to fire up today. we will be in and out of the clouds. then maybe an hour or two with sunshine. but overall the clouds went out with an unstable environment. we get up to 77 as the two degree guaranteed high and there will be scattered storms erupting into the afternoon. we clear it out overnight and we dropped down by daybreak into the upper 40s and around 50 and for tomorrow a cooler day with a high below normal in the mid-60s. check out extend forecast. partly sunny one tomorrow. but look at rain returning on thursday. the high of only 61 outside the belt woe could stay in the 60s. we clear it out for the weekend. saturday and sunday with sunshine highs in the mid-60s. kim. >> reporter: as sherrie johnson let us know, the water mayne breaks in park vie has been repaired and harford road is reopened and traffic is moving well. that leaves two water main breaks. one in baltimore city and has

we are five away from six. a search warrant reveals police dogs detected the smell of human remains on two cars at the home of a missing north carolina girl. 10-year-old girl reportedly vanished this weekend from her north-- in north carolina home in hickory about an hour from charlotte. and her stepmother says last time she saw her that her daughter was sleeping in a bedroom sound asleep around 2:30 saturday morning. >>i haven't.
