53 degrees and temperatures have bumped up a little bit. that's the sign of the cloud cover coming in during the dark hours. rain just to the west, probably a few hours away but we get through most of the morning commute dry in baltimore. and then the rain builds in and again by lunchtime, through the afternoon and this evening, the rain starts to get a little bit heavier as the storm starts to wind its way up. this afternoon's temperatures, not much different than this morning as we are stuck in the 50s. right now, again the roads are dry, but let's see what the traffic is do with kim brown. >> reporter: well, traffic is starting to build. 95 southbound, minor congestion through the white marsh boulevard area towards the beltway and 895 plight. -- split. looking at 659 at harford road, traffic is flowing nicely on both loops. not really too many problems. 95, 83 is checking in without problems. we are working two accidents in anne arundel county. an overturned vehicle reported to be in crownsville at severn chapel road and an accident reported route 100 westbound

approaching route 10. jamie, back to you. >> all right, 6:30. we thought we wouldn't see this miracle until christmas time. it took incredible international cooperation but this morning all 33 chilean miners are safe above ground. we watched each man get pulled up and laugh and cry as they saw their loved ones and natural light for the first time in 70 days. the chilean president was there for all 33 rescues and said it best to miner number 21. welcome to life. >> we have experienced a night that we will never forget. full of emotion, full of joy. >> now the miners are in the hospital and they are being evaluated. a few have new mown yarks others need dental work. but for the most part, they are doing okay. >> listen, four million people were online yesterday watching the rescue between four and five the same time the mine wert wife and mistress was being pulled out. so continue to go online and watch all of it. log onto abc2news.com for the

it's 6:38. the attorney general's office says that his office will join 48 other states in an investigation into foreclosure documentation practices. he wants to help ensure homeowners facing foreclosure are treated fairly and according to the law. last week, ally, bank of america, jp morgan chase voluntarily halted foreclosures in 23 estates aid meting they made mistakes. admitting they made missics. >> they were suggesting a they would resolve it in matter of months. the analyst think that it is likely to take at least a year.

good morning. i am jamie costello with your abc2 news to go. 33 men are wake up in bed above the earth's surface for the first time in 70 days. we all watched the tear jerking live pictures as each miner was pulled up and greeted screams and hugs from loved ones. one man sang and high fiveed rescuers and another dropped to his knees and thanked god to be alive. this says it all doesn't it? these are the rescuers after the 33rd man was sent up. the rescue unbelievable. the mission accomplished is what it says. we will have more on the rescue in a minute. but first, let's go to meteorologist justin berk. justin. >> good morning. yeah, it's 6:4 3. we will shift

focus a little bit to the weather locally. as the storm rolls in, it brought in cloud. temperatures bumping up from the 40s just a little bit in the last two hours. now pushing 52. and the live image shows us the harbor school in owens mills. we should add half an inch of rain with the developing storm. it is to the west and we will have a dry commute. clouds thicken and the tail end of the commute from 9 through noon, we build in the rain and it could get heavy as we roll in towards the afternoon with the developing storm. it is going to mean a lot of rain by tomorrow. it will be heaviest this afternoon and this evening with temperatures in the 50s. here's kim with traffic. >> reporter: we have some volume that is blocking some issues on the outer loop. here on the inner loop lanes on northeast side we have a disabled tractor trailer passed the camera shot block the center lane and the inner loop is not moving but volume on the other side on the outer loop west side jammed approaching i-70. work two incidents in anne

out the guy with the mistress and the wife, internet traffic ran up live 4 million viewers were online watching this. so continue to follow the progress of the 33 survivors. log onto our website, abc2news.com for the latest news and information and a look back at the amazing day of rescues yesterday. 6:46. this shouldn't happen in a playground or anywhere. police in howard county say a girl was sexually assaulted by four men. linda so is here with the details this morning. >> reporter: jamie, parents in the area are concerned. the playground where police say it happened is a pretty busy one. it's behind talbot springs elementary school in columbia. police say the incident happened around 7 tuesday night a7-year-old girl told police four men with dread locks grabbed her and sexually assaulted her. the girl managed to get home and a relative took her to the hospital. the girl told police she didn't know the men and hadn't seen them and couldn't tell how old they were. police say three of the men left the scene on motor scooters and the fourth on a bike.

>> i was -- i am not going to be send sending them up there at night unless i am with them. >> reporter: the girl was treat and released from the hospital. if you have information on the cause, call 410-313-stop. linda so, abc2 news. >> 6:47. let's go to college park. a 21-year-old man charged in the stab of four men including his brother. police say the fight started over a bar stool. here at thirsty turtle in college park, leonardo alonzo ramos cut three of the men and then stabbed his brother when he got involved. ramo is not a stewed antithe university of maryland -- student at the university of maryland but some of the injured men are. the city of maryland has new tool in the fight against gun violence. there's a smart policing grant one of only six awarded in the nation and will help fun the antigun violence efforts. and the grant will fund the gun

offender registry. it provides intelligence to law enforcement agencies on the identity and location of convicted gun offenders. voting will continue today for a second day on a new contract that puts performance ahead of experience for baltimore city teachers. the contract replace experience and degrees with students test scores and teachers performance evaluations in determining how teachers are promoted and rewarded in the future. in an online petition, 135 teachers are calling for a postponement of the regular vote. they claim a state committee has not started to figure out how the teachers will be evaluated over this. 6:48. the head of the washington, d.c. public school system is stepping down. michelle rhee made the announcement saying the thought of not being chancellor anymore is heart breaking. she took over one of the worst school systems in the land back in 2007 with a mandate from the mayor to improve the schools and since then she has improved test scores but angered many with teacher layoffs and fireings

year. wizards won against atlanta 107-92. 6:51 right now. in the democracy 2010 news here this morning, the two candidates for governor going at it again today. governor o'malley and former governor ehrlich are going to participate in their second debate before the november election. the event will be hosted today by the washington post. and will be streamed live on the paper's website. it starts at noon and we will have complete coverage on abc2 news at five, six and 11:00. today, a major announcement from the cordish company about the controversial slots parlor they want to build inure arundel mills mall. the company will unveil the plans for maryland live at a press conference this morning. the announcement will include details of the first class amenities that will be featured in the project. and voters will decide if they want the slots in that area on election day. a referendum called question a will be on the bam asking if you want the slots built there.

leading edge of the rain and watch the radar field enhance here across the mountain in the last couple hours. we have moderate rain to be expected as the storm cranks up one area of low pressure western pa, pull it back and being see second air afterlow pressure in southern portion of virginia and north carolina. that's the one that's going take over. that's the one that forms and turns into this nor'easter. a pattern that would be more common in the wintertime and as it wraps in this cold air, it is really going get cranking. and as the rain pulls out that's when the winds increase. this will whip up into new england with the wind there probably pushing up to 60 miles per hour along the coast and into the mountains stripping a lot of leaves off the new england trees. but for us, we get rain up to an inch expected and then we are expecting the winds to crank up as the thing pulls away. that is pattern we expect in the wintertime and if this storm had hit us in december, we would be talking about two feet of snow possible. especially up to the north. but for us, it's rain event and with the rain moderate to heavy this afternoon.

bob ehrlich says he wants to fix maryland. but he increased state spending by record amounts. ehrlich raised $3 billion in taxes and fees... including property taxes... and a 40% increase in college tuition. and now he's made over $1 billion in new promises... with no plans to pay for them...
