point. lots of traffic going down to the beach. i don't know why, because it's really cloudy outside. good evening, everyone. i'm roosevelt leftwich. will you have a washed out tomorrow, i should say. wyatt is in the storm center with a look at your forecast. >> good time to go to the beach and talking about trying to dodge the crowds, right? i mean murk ky, rainy conditions. let's show you maryland's most powerful radar. i have been tracking this rain all day. heaviest showers came through at 10:00 in the morning and 1:00 p.m. now we are seeing clearing from west to east. there's a few renegade showers out in western maryland. most of the heavy steady rain over on dell marva. look at some of these rain fall totals so far. almost an inch. more than an inch from fairfax down through morning side and back up across through germantown and frederick. there was heavy rain out there. still cloudy and murky. that's going to be our story this evening.

still showers to the east as well. other than that, chilly and breezy as we fall from the 50s and eventually into the 40s overnight. the weekend, the winds rolling in. we'll talk about how that will affect your saturday, sunday coming up. rosy. a neighborhood feud turns deadly. now police are investigating exactly what led up to an early morning shooting. it happened in thinksburg in carol county. don harrison has the very latest. >> reporter: this time of year, the most frightening thing is usually the halloween decorations. tragically, that all changed shortly after midnight thursday morning. several 911 calls came into the westminster state police for gun shots in the 1500 block of pilgrum lane. >> they found the victim lying in the driveway. sustain multiple gun shot wounds. the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. >> the victim, 48-year-old steven arrived home from work

and that's when 51-year-old gregory martin pulled his truck in behind him and an argument began. he was shot several times in the upper body. his wife heard the shots. >> the victims wife was sweeping at the time. she was awakened by gun shots that she heard. she was one of the 911 calls to police. she looked outside, saw her husband lying in the driveway. >> police say the suspect went to his estranged wife's house and turned the gun on himself. witnesses say the two men had an on going argument that began when the two were neighbors. >> oh my, that's terrible. >> and neighbors spent this day in shock. >> we don't get much of that here. moving out more and more. used to be just a city, now it's a country everywhere. >> police have been out here before in 2007 and 2008. police came out here to help sell an argument between these two men. unfortunately, this time they got here too late. in thinksburg, i'm don harrison

for abc2 news. a handgun was found next to the suspect police believe it was used in both shootings. a new jersey abortion doctor's license has been suspended. the new jersey board of medical examiner temporarily suspended steven brig ms only remains license this week. he started late term abortions with medication in new jersey and finished them in maryland where the law is per missive. he plans to appeal. we are working to keep you and your family safe. tonight baltimore city police need your help finding the man responsible for several convenience store robberies in the hamden area. this man robbed three stores over the past several weeks. he targets the stores overnight and threatens the clerk with a gun or knife. detectives believe the man that may have once lived in the area of baltimore city, anyone with any information is asked to call the city wide robbery unit at 410-366-6341.

you can learn more by heading over to our website. candidates running in maryland's gubernatorial race went head to head in their second debate. they both questioned each other's credibility during the debate. they also clashed how to address mass transit concerns in the washington, d.c. area. right now, baltimore city teachers are voting on one of the most progressive contracts in the nation. this teacher's union contract is performance based with built in raises and pay scales the teachers can raise. it would eliminate pay based on experience and education levels, voting is expected to wrap up later tonight. resting, recovering, and celebrating. they enjoyed their first night in a real bed in more than two months. chilean president, sebastian pinera visited the men in the hospital. some are doing so well, they

were allowed to go home. in our look around the nation tonight, a florida jogger gets tased while running in nothing but his birthday suit and swimming goggles. a police officer spotted the man and yelled for him to stop. when he kept going, the officer began to chase him. the officer's commentary was captured on video. >> don't run. stay down. what did you do? you keep running. >> the 18-year-old continued to ignore orders until he was finally tased by the officer. the suspect hit the ground hard and will be taken to a nearby medical center for treatment. at one point, he told officers he had super powers. rapper t.i. helped save a man's life. the rapper talked a suicidal man off of a building in atlanta. t.i. surprisingly showed up while officers were trying to stop the man from jumping off a high- rise. >> i was there and willing to help them and he came down

peacefully. >> police say t.i. told the man that people can make it through anything. the man was taken it a hospital for a mental evaluation. well what a way to end a driver's test. a teen drove his car into a state driver's license testing center after passing his driver's license test. police say he was dropping off the test administrator at the parking lot. he pulled into a space and thought the car was in park, but when it started moving, he panicked. at least three people in the building were hurt, but none seriously. no word yet if charges will be filed or whether or not the teen will get his license. check this out right here. earthquake in oklahoma caught on tape. dan reid's weekly sports blog is suddenly interrupted when his house starts shaking. his first reaction -- > kansas state playing -- we just had an earthquake. >> the quake measured at 4.3. earthquakes aren't so unusual

in oklahoma. experts say they are not usually that strong. paying for college tuition can be overwelming, but now the president is calling for some major changes to help millions of students. plus, it's a course you probably won't find at any university. wine making 101. currently in bowie, it is 54 degrees. wyatt says hopefully this rain will move out. he has the complete forecast coming up.

daunting. president obama is asking congress to renew a tax credit. karen has more. >> reporter: president obama is calling on congress to help students and parents cover college costs. the american opportunity tax credit was introduced as part of the massive economic stimulous in 2009, but is set to expire at the end of 2010 unless congress extends it. >> if we want americans and america itself to succeed in the 21st century, we need to offer all of our young people the best education the world has to offer. >> tax break, designed to help with tuition can cover expenses like textbooks and computers and is available for four under graduate years. the treasury department says 12.5 million americans use the credit last year, getting an average of $1700. it's a fraction of the average annual tuition cost at a four- year school, which ranges from just over $7,000 for in state tuition at a public school to more than $26,000 at a private

the wall street today, stocks recovered in the last hour of trading making back almost all of their earlier losses. the dow dropped 2 while the nasdaq lost 6. lenders seized more homes in summer than any other three month stretch since the housing boom began to slide back in 2006. that's according to realty track which reports banks were on the track to seize more than a million homes by the end of the year. now fewer takeovers are expected until they can sort out this document mess. and if you use oil to heat your home, you can expect to pay up this winter as the cost of fuel continues to go up. don't expect any break from the weather. colder temperatures than last year are forecasted which will increase the demand. >> the number of people filing for unemployment benefits is on the rise according to the labor department. last week's jump in the numbers was the second increase in two

found was a lot of heavy rain. we check out our high definition weather net camera downtown. beautiful photography here, but ugly looking day. up to towson, you could see the rain drops coming down on the pretty steady basis there. parking lot staying wet there at west towson elementary. rain fall totals pushing an inch and higher in many spots. columbia, we had a half inch in chestertown and centerville, 3/4 of an inch. cockeysville, under half an inch. anywhere from a half an inch to an inch and a third toward ash bourn today. winds have been a little breezy at times today. we had one gust to 20 at the river at the top of the hour. but these winds are going to be the story. the next 24 to 36 hours. very windy tonight and into the day tomorrow and finally just breezy. we think on saturday as the sunshine comes back out. right now temperatures mid 50s, but feeling cooler than that with the damp air and a north

breeze blowing out there. our high temperatures today around 60 at the inner harbor and annapolis. not quite to 60 in cambridge and d.c. squeaking out at 60. how does that compare to tomorrow? we will probably get into the mid 60s tomorrow without the rain and with some sunshine. keep in mind, very windy conditions. it will not feel like the mid 60s. it will feel more like the mid 50s tomorrow with all that wind tomorrow and neighborhood by neighborhood, we take you north and east. 60 or so. most of the day in the 50s and it will feel closer to 10 degrees cooler than these numbers with the wind, which is going to be howling out there tomorrow. here's why. our storm system getting out of here. taking the rain with it. but it's two areas of low pressure. one in pennsylvania, another off north carolina, and behind this system, high pressure beginning to move in and behind these storms, you'll find a lotted of wind coming in to fill in the void, so to speak. so look for windy conditions through the day tomorrow. bottom line, we will continue to see chilly weather even though the rain will taper off

tonight. 44 tomorrow. about 65 or so winds variable, 20 to 40 and skies will show some sunshine at times. 45 tomorrow night. chilly and breezy and breezy and a bit chilly saturday morning for the big run downtown. but temperatures rebound into the afternoon. we are talking 60s through sunday. rosy. the end of february, there has been speculation that the academy awards might be moved to a few weeks earlier. the exact day hasn't been chosen. the 83rd academy awards is set in l.a. you can see that right here on abc2. christina agulara filed for divorce. the grammy award winning singer filed to end her five year marriage to jordan bratman.
