we want to warn you police say the details about this crime are very disturbing. the baby girl was found dead inside her father's home in the 3800 block of glengyle avenue in northwest baltimore. christian schaefer is back with more on this developing story. >> reporter: baltimore city police are telling us that wednesday night officers respond ed to sinai hospital to an infant who was not breathing. the baby girl chloe lewis later died at that hospital. her father walked into the baby's room and saw she was not breathing. they interviewed the baby's father. eventually they say he confessed. >> it appears he may have either choked or shaken the baby. the m' s office is still examining but that's where we're at right now. >> reporter: an autopsy shows the baby had several healed injuries as well. remember she was only 6 months old including a broken rib.

tonight we'll have much more on this still developing story on abc 2 news at 11:00. >> three teens face assault charges in hartford county after one of them sprayed a chemical liquid in the face of two girls and then attacked all three of them. it happened at edgewood high school as classes got underway tuesday and that's where abc 2 news jeff hager picks up the story. >> reporter: the typical sounds of students moving through the hallways of edgewood high and scurrying off to class suddenly gave way to the shouting that accompanies a brawl. >> all of a sudden you seen a whole bunch of people yelling and screaming, and then you see a lot of people getting drag away by cops. >> reporter: students say a dispute over a boy prompted the argument which erupted in violence as one of the teens came to school armed with a chemical weapon. >> it was bleach and pine sol in a squirt bottle.

>> reporter: the targets of the attack have little time to react to the mixture sprayed directly into their faces before the three combat ants began beating them up. teachers and staff responded to the fight also were injured trying to break it up. the incident ended with the arrest of 3 students who now face a series of charges. >> a three were charged with disorderly conduct. the female student who threw the liquid she was charged with first degree assault. >> reporter: jeff hager abc 2 news. >> the school nurse treated one of the victims while they transported the others to upper chesapeake medical center. >> my name is adam, and i was bullied. >> my name is meg i was

feeling much cooler thanks to the winds. visible satellite beginning the clear out. through the overnight hours it gets chilly but through the day tomorrow nice rebound back into the mid-60s with lots of sunshine. how does that hold up into the second half of the weekend we'll talk about it in a couple more minutes. all right thanks wyatt. baltimore city school ceo dr. andres alonzo says he believes the no vote means teachers need more time to vote on their new contract. one day after teachers votesed no for the deal that would pay them based on performance instead of senority and teaching degrees, dr. alonzo made yet another appeal. many teachers say they need more information and time to digest what it would mean. the teacher contract expires october 28th. today dr. alonzo says that date is next i believe. >> i take yes to this vote as very much about teachers saying

what you're asking us to do is so extraordinarily i have than what we have done, that we need a lot more time. >> now with the contract rat fade it will include a one time stay pepped for teachers and another issue on the table the future of some 6500 teachers that still hangs in the balance of this new decision. now that baltimore city teachers voted down the performance based contract, the clock is ticking. brian kuebler is working on that angle he reports on how the union is working around the clock to get their contracts approved. >> reporter: change never comes easy. hundreds of teachers lining up last night to vote down a new performance based contract a perfect example. >> i don't quite understand what's in the contract. i don't understand the whole thing so i'm voting no. >> reporter: as did more than 1500 others. many feeling there wasn't enough time to understand the details of the progressive contract fearing the devil was

somewhere in the still unknown details of how teachers would be evaluated a message the school district and the union got loud and clear. >> i think it was more of a vote for i need more time to understand it than i don't like this contract. >> reporter: at the downtown hilton at a already scheduled teachers conference tighted teaching and learning in a climate of change impromptu seminar to discuss the very change voted down last night. >> we're going to go back to the table after we hear what they have to say today. we're going to turn our luncheon into a town meeting we're going to hear what is their concerns. >> reporter: the clock in the classroom is ticking. if teacher's current contract runs out in two weeks. the union says it will hold another vote then. some teachers at today's conference optimistic the new performance based contract will pass once they know more and

can taylor some of the language. >> are you hoping it will pass. >> i think it will once everybody get a better understanding whatever can be changed teachers don't like about it. >> reporter: part of a two week process convincing the majority to pass a fundamental change in how children are taught and how teachers teach. in baltimore brian kuebler abc 2 news. >> and the union says they have two weeks to better educate their educators on the contract. if the second vote fails it would ask for yet another extension the try and convince its members. mayor stephanie rawlins- blake met with janet napolitano. they met, for a groundbreaking.

imagine denying a pregnant woman the choice of health care providers. only one senator voted with big insurance over pregnant women: andy harris. protecting our bay? harris was the only one to vote against cleaning up toxic waste sites. he always sides with the polluters, one of the worst environmental records in the senate. and harris was the only one to vote against extending education for special needs kids. no wonder his republican colleagues think he's too extreme. we can't afford his extreme ideas. i'm frank kratovil and i approve this message
