it is a quarter to six on this monday morning. woke one week ago we celebrated his birthday and now we are herring his life, a life that had so much throat give. sherrie johnson as we bury detective brian stevenson today. sherrie. >> reporter: good morning, jamie. a sad day. friend, family and fellow police officers will gather here this morning at new antioch baptist church in randalltown to say bye to detective brian stevenson. he was killed in canton last weekend after a fight in the parking lot. he was hit in the head with a rock during a fight over a parking space. he was out celebrating his birthday. he would have turned 38 years old a day after that assault. detective stevenson joined the baltimore police department in july of 1992 and was assigned to the district detective unit in the northeastern district. 25-year-old sian james is locked up charged with first-degree murder. james was out of jail on

150,000 dollars bond following his indictment on attempted rape charges involving his ex-girlfriend three months ago. but this morning, he is in jail on murder charges. so once again, the services for the detective stevenson starts at 11 this morning. reporting live from randalstown, sherrie johnson, abc two news. funeral arrange mense are set for officer tomorrowas portz who died after the squad car crashed into a fire truck. a private funeral is planned for today for immediate family and another in towson and a funeral will be held at 11 wednesday at cathedral of mary the queen. he will be laid to rest in lutherville. and united states honor flag is sent to our city to honor those city police officers who were recently killed. this flag flew over ground zero during recovery efforts in new york city after 9/11. and the flag is set to arrive in

baltimore tomorrow afternoon. 5:47 right now a georgetown university dorm was evacuated after a chemical lab was discovered inside. officers arrested two students and visitor in connection with the suspected drug lab. police say it started on saturday morning when they got a call about a foul odor. >> it was potentially very explosive. the metropolitan police brought in the explosive experts as well. we hazmat stabilized it and again it was made safe for the explosives folks to come n dangers are explosions and inhalation. >> they thought the lab was for making meth and later was for make drug known as dnt which is illegal. 5:48. what would we do without music? i mean what would we do without compassion and persistence. about raising money for african american women for sifters network this weekend.
