two police officers to smuggle cigarettes and liquor into maryland to avoid paying taxes, the other case accuses two virginia men including a pg county police officer to smuggle cocaine. this is part of an ongoing investigation into corruption in the county. the indictments of police officers are very disturbing and they hinted that more arrests in this case could be on the way. >> these two cases have one important feature in common. they allege that police officers violated the trust of the people of prince george's county, sold their authority, and joined with criminals to commit serious criminal violations. >> as i stated on friday, we are once again asking the public that might have interest or might have knowledge '06 any corruption in this department to contact the f.b.i. >> now in total 9 people were arrested in separate indictments including 3 prince george's police officers and

two different indictments, police sergeant richard del ape r. kong chin kim and sin symptom inc. they seized more than 3 1/2 million dollars in confiscated property including several liquor stores and bank casualties. more could be on the way. roosevelt leftwich, abc 2 news. >> thanks a lot resee. >> back just three days after a highly publicized investigation outgoing prince george's county executive jack johnson is back at work. johnson and his wife leslie were charged with witness tampering and destruction of evidence. he is on home detention and only allowed out for work, court, and meetings with attorneys, johnson said he is working on next year's budget and that. mayor stephanie rawlings blake is preparation to face potential challengers, she is filling in for the mayor who stepped down on corruption

charges, otis raleigh is set to challenge her, baltimore circuit court clerk frank con oh way and state senator catherine peuce. baltimore city police say this man broke into the car belonging to mayor rolls blake's husband. police arrested anthony thomas after they found him near the crime scene, he was charged with the theft of a 'roid i don't and also disorder earl conduct. crash investigators are still working to determine the cause of a crash that left one person seriously injured and one dead. 52-year-old perry sink died in that crash, both lanes of york road had to be shut down during the crash investigation. police have not areleased the name of the person who survived the crash. a soldier from saltsburg has been killed while serving in afghanistan. specialist david looks died last thursday in germany. he had been wounded when enemy

forces attacked his unit with improvised explosive device last week. he was a member of the 121st airborne division out of for the campbell, kentucky. in anne arundel county police are on the hunt for three men involved in a deadly shooting. a man was shot inside the pizza shop in glen burnie. he asked the men to leave but they hot flores, one man was captured and has been identified as 17-year-old vincent butter of pasadena. the employee was not hurt during the shooting. well the food court at arundel mills mall turned no a crime scene after a stabbing this weekend. police arrested three people and charged them with assault. an 18-year-old was stabbed in the back and police say a 20- year-old, a 17-year-old and another juvenile was arrested. investigators still have not determined what caused the fight. and baltimore county police are still investigating a series of shootings which

targeted motorists near the lock raven reservoir on sunday. someone shot with a bb gun, shot out the windows in three cars, and two others as they would he have around a sharp curve in warren road. one suffered a minor wound to the leg, another had to go to the hospital with glass in his eye from a shattered win shield. we spoke to a man today who also had a window blown out. >> she heard this explosion, as she characterized it, and there was no place to stop so she crossed the bridge and noticed a couple of other cars that had stopped there and right away saw that their windows had been shattered. >> now police questioned a pair of teenaged boys who emerged from the woods shortly after the shootings but they denied responsibility. officers have not recovered the bb gun used to target the cars. well tonight a 17-year-old boy is recovering after he fell 30 to 50 feet while hiking on sugar loaf mountains on frederick county. helicopters from frederick and

drawing a lot of attention. the outgoing president used his final speech to defend the bishop's opposition to health care reform. francis george openly denounced president barack obama's plan saying it would allow abortion. they argued that an executive order prohibiting abortions being paid for by the state would be used. a new trend is hitting college campuses, armed robberies. of the three campuses that reported robberies last week five people were held up at gun point. officials say the suspects have struck at loyola, towson and un bc and are even targeting groups of students. the robbers approach you don't fight them, give them what you have and call police. also try not to walk alone. always use a buddy system and if you're out on campus at night try to stay in the well- lit areas. well as morgan state university continues to grow parking is quickly becoming the most valuable real estate.

today residents around the university protested because of the number of students parking in nearby neighborhoods. abc 2 news brian keep letter reports. >> reporter: there is a synchronized game of musical chairs going on around morgan. every two hours students break from class to move their cars. >> it's very frustrating. i actually have to move my car about two or three times a day just to make sure, it's a two- hour limit so to make sure i don't get a ticket you have to keep moving the car. >> but when the music stops playing the residents around here are left standing. >> ha 9:00 in the morning until 2:00 or 3:00 in the afternoon, you go to the store for 15 minutes, you come back, your parking space is gone and you have nowhere else to park. >> reporter: it's the reason residents like lawrence heal are holding these signs, part of a community protest staged at the corner of cold spring and hillen to get their message across, these homeowners feel hostage in their own homes and want the university to know. >> we want our students to be

good neighbors, we want to be good neighbors. >> reporter: morgan officials say they hear the frustration. the student enrollment only continues to grow every year and it's an urban institution with literally no wiggle room. a new parking garage near completion should help the issue but the university says it will take cooperation. >> it is going to be a partnership that's going to get this issue resolved in an amicable fashion. we are committed to doing that, we have been working with the community for years. >> reporter: both sides know it will take even more work. the president is set to meet with the community this wednesday morning to begin to talk about some sort of solution. in the meantime, parking remains a premium and tension is continuing to rise. in baltimore, brian kuebler, abc 2 news. morgan state university says it will also study other urban campuses like loyola and johns hopkins for ideas on how to solve this issue.

well after opening several waiting rooms across the country the carson scholarship fund celebrated its 6th annual ben carson reading day in baltimore doctor carson's wife candy spent the morning reading to children at elementary school. miss smith's incredible storybook is just one of several books now part have the vast library and reading rooms across maryland. to date the carson scholarship fund has launched 6 reading rooms across the state. after the months of planning, proposals and deadline the developers for a new entertainment complex have hit another hurt will. they record the project could be put on hold because of the  current economic climate. the developers planned for a multiscreen movie theater, restaurants offices and a complex across shopping roads from the towson center. they endorsed a $6.2 million

robberies on area college campuses are raising some concerns, what is being done to keep students safe. plus if you rush to stock up on your precipitations to use, your credit card accounts spend is on the way. so you don't waste your money. tonight at 11:00. the impact of game video gaming on children. the effects really depend on who is playing them. lynette sosa has details in tonight's health minute. >> reporter: do video games have negative effects on children? a new study conducted by yale's university department of psychology tried to find out. researchers surveyed 4,000 adolescents on their gaming habits, they focused on whether the kids were occasional users or problematic gamers who immanagers themselves in video games 24/7. investigators also surveyed the ad oh less enterprises' other habits such as drinking, smoking, and drug abuse.

investigators recorded no negative health consequences when it came to boys who game occasionally but girls who were involved in gaming at least once a day were more likely to be aggressive and involved in fights. many said they were depressed and never told anyone. boys who were problematic gamers also recorded more episodes of smoking and drug abuse. in girls who were problematic gamers substance apuce was less significant. researchers say although gaming didn't seem to pose any major physical health problems psychologists believe constantly playing video games may be a byproduct of some deeper psychological problems. for today's health minute, i'm lynette sosa. well women working a stressful job won't be surprised to hear this. a new federally funded study finds that women with stressful jobs are more likely to suffer a heart attack or stroke or have clogged arteries than those who have less stress on the job. worrying about job loss can increase health risk as well
