big store imwind ripped through baltimore and baltimore county overnight causing major damage and even injuries in parts of the city and surrounding counties. the earlier this morning, we checked in with charlie crowson. we want to take you to baltimore city where they are dealing with a major cleanup in the northeast area of the city. that's where we find abc2 news sherrie johnson. >> reporter: good morning to you. that's right, i am here in northeast baltimore. take a look behind me here. this place looks like a disaster area. i mean, there are you can see the roofs and three roofs actually fell off of the buildings here and they had windows blown out. this all happened about 1:30 this morning when the severe storms blew through here with 80-mile-an-hour winds. we are here -- we are here in the 2200 block of fleetwood avenue at the dutch village apartment and tone homes. roofs were blown off some of the house and downed trees and power lines and there's lots of

debris everywhere. three people went to the hospital with minor injuries. in this area, about 2700 homes are without power this morning. we are totally in the dark over here. two mta buss are here as a temporary shelter for folks. there is a staging unit with many of the city agencies on handworking together including the emergency management team to try to help people. the mount pleasant ice rink will also open just before 6 a.m. this morning and serve as a temporary shelter there as well. so there's places where people can go. firefighters are on the scene. they are surveying the damage. but pritdy tough right now because it's just so dark out here and really hard to see. so, again, they are going to be out here for sometime. but we have a number of city agencies that are out here, the department of housing, emergency management, the american red cross, and working together to try to help the people out here. i don't know i. guess tony if you pan over here. we are in total darkness over

here. you can't see anything. the power is out. there's debris everywhere. all over the lawn here. there's glass everywhere. so, it's definitely a pretty dangerous area. it looks like a disaster zone out here. and, of course, we will stay on top of it and continue to talk to the firefighters who are -- they are walking through here trying to go door to door to help anyone that need it. but they said it's pretty tough on them because it's so dark. reporting live in northeast baltimore, sherrie johnson, abc2 news. >> you will be out there and we will have more perspective with the -- when the sun comes up. power outage are all over the place. bge reports more than 21,000 outages across the area. baltimore county, and anne arundel county they are reporting more than 5,000 people without power this morning. baltimore city has close to 4,000 without power. and to report outages, bge says call them.

let's highlight possible and highlight the question mark. the national weather service will do a full investigation and come up with the conclusion during the daylight hours. baltimore city we talked about fleetwood road and the apartment damage and it extends into baltimore county as well. we will continue to watch this because the wind have maxed out on the johns hopkins university applied physics lab of 57-mile-per-hour wind gust with the storm that blew through. still mild out here. 54 degrees and still breezy. it was about the wind and nasty line of storms that came through. this is what the radar looked like at 1:306789 you can see the line pushing through and you can see a hook through northern baltimore county and that is what some people believing there may be some circulation with the cold front, a spin in the atmosphere that helped to enhance the storm as it blew through. that's out of here a line of

showers through northern carroll county straddling the pa line. the issue is the fact that the wind will pick back up. a brief high of 61. we clear it out and will drop this afternoon to 50s with winds gusting up to 40 miles per hour. let's he go to the road and see what other problems we have to deal with. here's kim brown. >> reporter: well, fortunately, we have not had any reports of any road closures because of debris in anne arundel county. looking at 97 and route 100, traffic is moving pretty well. no issues on route 50. but i anticipate that's going to change as daybreak approaches and people are getting out and assessing the damage. looking at the maps, baltimore county and baltimore city have gotten the worst. in the city two accidents. one at cold spring lane and green spring avenue. second at bowling lane and you will find northern parkway closed at mcclain boulevard because of debris. paring parkway closed at mcclain this morning and parkville putty hill avenue closed at conway court. paring parkway closed at oakley road in parkville and

kateonsville between route 40 and cedar circle drive and route 7 closed at old mountain road because of debris. as you head out, be on the lookout for downed tree limbs and possible downed wires as well. we have been hearing that all over the area downed trees and debris in the road. keep that in mind. 5:35. more on the severe weather, but also, a little bit of light heartedness. not all dogs get around on four legs. look at this guy. he needs a home but it's going take a special family to adopt him. we have details on how he is growing into people's heart. but if you are taking the train or bus, you have to find out how it's moving. that's where mark jones come in. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. out there on the bus system you will find storm damage diverting the buses including the number 36. diverted in the air afteralameda and argone. 22 eastbound diverted at alameda a kirk. and 20 and 30 bus old frederick and ethel and 19, 22, 36 and

glen burnie 54-mile-per-hour wind. 53-mile-per-hour wind in annapolis. parkville, we showed you widespread damage, roof damage and trees and power outages, 39-mile-per-hour wind gust at the parkville middle school but that's just at the middle school. it's possible that you can live a mile away and actually have much stronger winds and there's some talk about a possible tornado that blew through. if so, the national weather service will investigate and survey the damage during the daylight. we are looking at radar. that's what it looked like at 1:40. massive line east of baltimore. rain is done and showers lingering just to the west. it really is just a matter of the wind advisory. that actually kicks in at 9 a.m. with the main storm to our north through the afternoon at 4 p.m. we could see wind gusting to 40 miles per hour. temperatures briefly hit 61 but we will drop. >> the 50s this afternoon. here kim brown with traffic. >> reporter: thanks you talked about parkville middle school. we have debris downright in front of parkville high school.

as justin said, the damage can be widespread and not that far apart from one another. in terms of the major roadways, we don't have problems. there are few delays and light to moderate volume. traffic is off to a good start. getting out of your neighborhood could be where you have difficulties. looking around the area, this is what we have in terms of closure in baltimore city northern parkway closed at mcclain, paring closed at mcclain and parkville, paring parkway at oakley road is closed. joppa, route 7 old mountain road closed because of debris. and baltimore city, two accidents one at cold spring lane and green spring and the other in kateonsville that has route 40 -- excuse me rolling road at route 40 closed because deaf brie. be on the lookout for dark traffic lights this morning. treat those as a four-way stop. we have more of your severe weather coverage coming up next when "good morning, maryland" returns after this.

northeast baltimore. damaging apartment units and leaving a mess. some people injured. abc2 news sherrie johnson is live on the scene. >> reporter: i am here in northeast baltimore, it's really unbelievable here the damage that is going on. we have debris everywhere downed power lines and downed trees. as a matter of fact, the latest information that came out firefighters it will me they have actually evacuated the homes over here in dutch village apartments and town homes because of the integrity of the building. they are worried about people's safety and they have had to go door to door and knock on the doors and ask people to leave and evacuate to a shopping center. they have mta buses out here for temporary shelter. alana is with me, one of the people that actually had to be evacuated from her home. good morning. thanks so much for stopping to talk to us. take me back. what happened? what did you hear and see this morning? >> i heard a lot of wind and

thumping. >> reporter: what's going through your mind? you see the debris and what do you think? >>i doesn't know i was shocked i never seen anything like -- don't know. i was shocked. i never seen anything like this. it was scary. >> reporter: you said the firefighters were at your door this morning? >> yeah. they came and told everybody we had to evacuate. >> reporter: and where do you go from here? when can you go back? >> i am not sure. they didn't say. >> reporter: you and your family are headed up to the shopping center for temporary shelter. >> yes. >> reporter: we hope you and your family will be okay. thanks so much for stopping and talking to us this morning. >> thank you. >> reporter: okay. and so, like alanna, a number of people will be heading up to northern parkway and mcclean. this is where they have temporary shelter. they have two mta buses here. they have the mount pleasant ice rink, which will also be opened very soon to serve as temporary shelter. firefighters are going door to door trying to evacuate people and get them out. they do not feel these homes, the structure, is safe for them to be in.

as being see, the debris on the lawn here -- as you can see, the debris on the lawn here, the windows were blown out, we have car damage, trees fell on cars. we have downed power lines. it's just a major disaster area here. and right now, the focus is for safety. and to make sure the folks in the homes get out and they are safe. and, again, we are trying to have -- make sure they are safe and get them to temporary shelter. reporting live, sherrie johnson. >> thanks. it's going to be a much different pictures when the sunrises and we get a better look at the apartment complex. in the meantime, you can see how bad it is. as you can imagine, there are power outage all over the place because of this storm. bge is reporting more than 21,000 outages across the area. baltimore county and anne arundel county reporting more than 5,000 people without power this morning. baltimore city has close to 4,000 people without power. if you need to report a power outage, don't forget to check on loved once. but if you need to report the

power outage call, 1-877-778-2222. our team coverage continues this morning. people in baltimore city are not the only ones waking up with the damage outside their homes wondering what happened. the parkville area and other areas in baltimore county are a mess, too. charlie crowson is live at oakley road where there's damage surrounding you. >> reporter: yeah, there's a lot of damage. and it's very severe this morning. daylight is about an hour away. that will bring new perspective. what people are seeing as they make their way out tonight, uprooted trees. you see this one fell on the backside of the house here at corner of forest and oakley. people will see less on their house this morning. things like shingles being blown off and pieces of siding much like this right here. this is what's been scattered in the streets and roadways. you also see street lines down. the top of the tree blew some 15 yards off this tree here into

something interesting, we want to hear the stories and share them. send the pictures to pix at wmar.com. we look at seatel light and radar. severe weather alert and we are going back roughly four hours here as we are at 5:52 in the morning and we will go back to 1:50. look at line of storms is that blew through extending up to yorkpa and through central maryland and hit the baltimore county area at around 1 to 1:30 and yes, we had a severe thunderstorm warning. but if you slept through it you probably woke up from the storms themselves. widespread power outages and damages as you've seen from charlie and sherrie and the storms hit eastbound and blew out. there's a line trying to develop. there's clearing to the south. but overall, it's about the wind advisory that kicks in at 9 a.m. and goes until 4 p.m. wind could reach 40 miles per hour. and while we are mild at 56, there's cold air behind the

storm and the main storm is circulating back across the great lakes. there's the low pressure center as it ride to the north. strong gusty winds will develop and that is pretty much what we are looking at here. one more disturbance behind the system that will produce the cold air and snow in the mountains. you can see right there. we will have cloud building back in and the chance of maybe a rain shower tomorrow evening with some snowflakes mixed in. but no big deal. it's about the wind advisory today. we will hit 61 midday and drop into 50s this afternoon. tomorrow, dry and 54 with the evening showers low to mid-50s but dry through weekend and rain arriving before the thanksgiving with a warmup to 62. kim. >> reporter: justin, we are keeping ion on the traffic cameras and searing them jump from time to time because the wind are out there gusting. wind warnings are in place at both the key and bay bridges. as we look around the area, no major accidents or delays. look at the maps, lots of places with roads closed at this time from baltimore and baltimore county. also out in harford county. so we will have more of those
