gone. >> i'm fine. i'm not even fussing about nothing. i'm blessed. to be alive. nothing can i say more. >> reporter: in northeast baltimore, jeff hager, abc2 news. >> there were many dramatic moments during last week's tornado. none more so than what police officers and first responders encountered though. they were commended today by the mayor and police commissioner. the first two officers on scene heard screaming and rushed into a damaged apartment whrlg. >> we saw one of the females on the floor screaming for help. then another female on the bed, all we saw were her legs and feet moving. >> when i opened the door and look up, there's no ceiling, then i went -- started to point with my flashlight, i see the debris, walls, tables, everything, the floor, windows. it was a complete destruction. >> after everything was said and done everything was safe. we stood outside and we were

like, what just happened? we had no idea. >> reporter: the police department says the two officers will soon receive official commendations for their quick action. mayor stephanie rawlings-blake has established a disaster relief fund to help the families in northeast baltimore affected by the storms from last week. sawyer realty, the owner of the pleasantview and dutch village apartments has committed to donate $10,000 to that relief fund. if you would like to help you can do so through harbor bank of maryland at 25 west fayette street, baltimore, 21201. weather-wise today, we saw warm conditions relative to the seasonable normal temperatures and tomorrow should be even milder, though we bring in the chance of rain there. let's first look at some of the weather that we see brewing across the eastern united states right now. toughest travel is up in the new england states, basically vermont, northward into places like boston and bangor, maine,

out to the north and west we've got some wet weather moving into chicago. that is always problematic for the air traffic grid as well. temperature-wise, low 60s now. 61 hanover. 56 marriottsville. looking at 54 in churchville. 58 centreville. numbers pretty mild. 60s into the 50s for most of us this evening. low 60s, mid to upper 50s. we will look for, again, that increasing chance for rain, we'll pinpoint when we think the highest risk for rain will be tomorrow and also look ahead to the travel forecast for thanksgiving, coming up. take a look at tonight's top stories. baltimore police say they are exploring the possibility that corrections officer sheron jones was murdered as some part of domestic dispute. jones was found dead this weekend in northeast baltimore. detectives believe jones was murdered by someone she knew but police have yet to find that person. officials at bwi marshall airport q.;expecting to operate pretty much like a normal thanksgiving travel holiday.

they are if going -- going to be crowds and long lines as usual but for many travelers it's getting tougher and more intrusive. many say the new scanners might not detect the types of things the shoe bomber and underwear bomber smuggled aboard their flights. they say the aggressive patdowns simply violate their personal rights. mayor stephanie rawlings-blake is closer to trying to close that $2.8 billion shortfall for school construction and renovation. the mayor along with city school ceo dr. andres alonso formed a new construction task force. baltimore city has the oldest school buildings in the state. some schools without air conditioning and inadequate heat. the task force is expected to make its recommendations by february. news around the nation begins with a tragic heartbreaking accident in los angeles. a boy died after falling some 50 feet from a luxury suite at an l.a. lakers game at the staples center. believed to be 2 or 3 years

old, he fell from the third deck of the luxury seats several minutes after the lakers beat the warriors last night. the third deck has an approximately 50-foot drop it's not yet clear what caused the boy to fall out of the suite. the boy died at usc medical center. a new jersey pastor who called for his followers to drop facebook because it leads to infidelity offered to step down. over a past affair that involved a threesome with his wife and male assistant at the church. over the weekend the reverends miller told his church congregation he broke a commandment about a decade ago. he said almost a decade ago he had a three-way sexual relationship with his wife and that church assistant. in his 50-minute sermon yesterday he apologized for his past. >> for any painma my past mistakes have caused you i again, i did many years ago, ask for your forgiveness. >> everybody makes mistakes. everybody has a past, you know? he's a human being like anybody

else. >> also in his sermon miller reminded married church leaders to shut down their facebook accounts. he said i could lead to reconnections with past relationships and destroy their marriages. and tonight, at 11:00, an investigation into baltimore city's war on illegal guns. how those firearms are traced and where they come from. abc2 news jamie costello gives us an exclusive look. >> reporter: it's called the continue of a -- dna of a gun. brian kuebler showed off his footage. everybody stopped to take a look at what the city and feds allowed us to shoot. this is stuff you don't see that often. we take you to what is called the gun vault. some video that won't make it to the final cut. a l >> that is a gun. >> that's a gun? >> yeah. this one obviously looks like -- there's the barrel somehow. i'm not sure how this works. but there's a firearm disguised

take a look at the numbers. the dow jones down 24, almost 25. the nasdaq up almost 14 and the s&p 500 down almost two. in tonight's "consumer watch" -- good news for wal-mart shoppers. it will match competitors' prices starting thanksgiving and through the weekend. wal-mart says it will match the price of any identical price at the register. the offer doesn't apply to on-line purchases. and shoppers spend more in early november raising hopes for a big holiday season. big discounts on everything from tvs to clothing along with free shipping deals lured shoppers into the first half of the month. the average on-line order ran about $198 up from 10% last year. the question now though is whether the momentum will continue or will take sales away from the big black friday. big night for teen

members of two local churches are joining forces. bridging the gap between the city and the suburb to help those in need this thanksgiving. abc2 news joce sterman has more on why they say they are giving something back by giving together. >> reporter: outside knox presbyterian

church a line formed. not for a handout but a hand up as thanksgiving approaches. >> it's always good to give. >> reporter: that's the motto of two churches whose members are giving back to the community. >> we should all go together as one, a whole and not be accept are -- separated. >> reporter: knox presbyterian is in the city and christ our king presbyterian from the suburbs of bel air. still, they joined forces to feed those in need. >> we partner up and we can help more people. and that's what we tried to do today. we're just so thankful and proud. >> reporter: these two churches had an original goal of packing up about 400 of these boxes, in the end they came up with 650, feeding approximately 6,500 people with 12 tons of food. >> it's amazing. it hasn't hit me yet. i'm in awe. but it's not us. it's something bigger than we are. >> reporter: it's a common faith connecting them in a cause. the miles between the church members making no difference when it comes to making someone else's life a little easier.

affected by any kind of weather that can affect the whole grid. so check your flight times. model weather surges in tomorrow. other than the rain coming in, really not a bad-looking day. timing-wise on the rain our future forecast, 7:00, begins to move into western maryland. i think it's tomorrow afternoon, tomorrow evening when we have the best shot for hit and miss showers. doesn't look like particularly heavy steady rain but showers tomorrow evening. we dry out wednesday, but colder air from the north and west, chillier day wednesday. overnight tonight, 48, clouds on the increase, patchy fog will be a possibility toward daybreak tomorrow but probably not widespread dense fog. 66 tomorrow, a bit milder with afternoon showers around here. and tomorrow night, tuesday night, talking about 40 or so, variably cloudy, maybe patchy drizzle. weather drier but colder here on wednesday for the huge travel day before thanksgiving. much of the country will face rain, even snow wednesday and
