now, "good morning, maryland. the fight to extend bush era tax cuts continues in the nation's capital. more dissension between president obama as his democratic party. neighbors say hundreds of animals lived in the house that catches on fire. it could have been a disaster. but firefighters were able to make a lot of rescues. and weekend weather turns wild and deadly. heavy snow brought down the roof at the metro dome in minneapolis. how long will it continue and what are we in store for here in maryland. >> that video is incredible. and the snow out there is incredible. i know if you are living here you might be a little bit jealous because we saw rain and a lot of people want to see snow. >> the thing about the video from the metrodome. they had four guys on the roof with shovels. you need more than four guys. you need more than four. what is in store for us on this monday, december 13th? late sea -- let's say good morning for justin berk.

a few days off last week and come back and bring flurries. >> i tried to. four goose were strong and ambitious and they tried hard. we have to give them credit. winter weather advisory. we have been wait and watching this storm and finally we get the chance as most of it is pushed on by. there's a little moisture behind it. and up to about nine, we have got the advisory for anywhere from dusting close to an inch. it may accumulate on car tops and grassy surfaces. most of the roads will be wet because they are above freezing. but there could be some spots that do get a little slick. we will show you why in a moment. afternoon windy and turning colder with more snow on the way in the, tended forecast. maryland's most powerful doppler radar and being see we have the winter mode and we have a little light snow around the southeast portion of baltimore and seeing towards dc. it's coming up from the south andan arundel county through the district gets it and another shot towards western howard and carroll county. temperatures slipped below

in many areas closing major highways and canceled more than 1600 flights in chicago. at least four weather related deaths have been reported thus far. here are things are shaping up. as far as the delays, a flight from detroit didn't arrive until one this morning almost 2 1/2 hours late. there are two flights scheduled to leave this morning. one at 6 a.m. and the other around 7 for chicago. and it's showing both are on time but that could change a flight to detroit is on a 90-minute delay and is not leaving until a quarter of 8 due to weather. for more information, call the airline or the airport. the number is on the screen. 800-i-fly-bwi to more information. the storm hit the upper midwest and tracking east this morning. >> it's responsible for four deaths. we have more on the storm and the issues it's creating for a lot people. >> reporter: as residents in the upper midwest start digging out from the snow, places like indianapolis and cleveland are

getting ready for their own storm. the storm packed a powerful punch dumping over a foot and a half of snow. old man winter is no stranger to minnesota but this storm will go down in the history books. in minneapolis, incredible video shows the roof of the metro dome stadium collapsing under the weight of 17 inches of snow. >> the last time this occurred was in april of 1983. >> reporter: luckily, no one was hurt. the dome's collapsed forced nfl to move the giants-gentes -- vikings game in then detroit left out in the cold is the game ticket holders. >> i wish they would take to us detroit, but don't think it will happen. >> reporter: 29 states are being pounded by this from the great lakes to the gulf of mexico. >> 1500 miles in extent. comma shape and snow is on the northern age edge and it continues to psh across the country. >> reporter: some parts of wisconsin saw two feet of snow. high winds made it feel like it

extending you be employment benefits and one year payroll tax break. this is the dal he reached with republicans. some democrats are strug welts estate tax law. he would pass on 5 million dollars tax free and anything over that is taxed at 35%. house democrats say that's far too generous. >> we are not going hold this thing up at the end of the day, but we think that's simple question should be put to the test. >> now today the senate is expect to -- expected to pass the deal and the white house says the cuts won't pass the house if democrats seek major changes. property owners are starting to plan around the estate tax. susie wells owns a farm in prince frederick maryland outside washington. she is planning on passing the farm on this to her 22-year-old son and that's where most of her worries begin. under the current estate tax law, next year's estates worth more than a million dollars would be taxed at 55%. >> we are land rich and cash

and as being see on the radar, indicating the light snow overspread the region for the last couple hours. a hit on the east side of balmmore through harford county and up 95. and also back toan arundel county and around the district of columbia. now more snow will be moving through. most of our temperatures like baltimore 35rbgs. 30 in section of carroll county. temperatures maybe cooling below freezing and what is wet on the road could get a little slick. but most of what we get is a dusting to maybe up to ionch on the grassy surface was snow showers and cold wind this afternoon. kim. >> reporter: justin, the driving conditions still not too bad despite the flurries. it's going to make the roadways a little wet but it's not sticking. 895 southbound heading past o'donnell street exit, no problems at tunnels. 695 and 83 checking in without issues. one accident up in aberdeen old philidelphia road at perryman police are directing traffic

welcome back. it's 5:46. new information this morning on the carbon monoxide poisoning in baltimore county that left two dead and sickened several others. it happened along the 4100 block of colby road in pikesville where we find jeff hager with the latest details. jeff, good morning to you, sir. >> reporter: good morning, charlie. early on in the investigation, it appears that a faulty furnace may be to blame for the two deaths that came from carbon monoxide poisoning in a house here in the 4100 block of colby road on sunday. the two men were sleeping in the basement when the deadly gas overcame this. my colleague cheryl conner spoke to a family home who -- member who says his uncle tried to fight the effects of the deadly gas but was overcome by it. >> whiles walk up e. tried to

open the door and fell e was trying to open it but he couldn't. >> reporter: we have learned a little bit about the victim. he traveled to the u.s. in search of construction work and was trying to support a wife and six children he left behind. altogether, we are told 11 people including family members and the people who were trying to rescue them were transported to area hospitals. but have been treated and released. reporting live in pikesville, jeff hager, abc2 news. a baltimore man accused of plotting to bomb a military recruitment center will be back in court today. it's scheduled for 1:30 this afternoon e changed his name to muhammad hussein is behind bars without jail and is charged way tempted murder and possession of a weapon of mass destruction. he was arrested last week during a sting operation near catonsville. authorities say he tried to detonate what he thought was a barm -- near the armed force

recruitment building. six pit bulls including a puppy will be put up for adoption once an investigation is over. they found the dogs during a raid on edgemont friday night. >> they came in from edgemont avenue with severe scarring on them and open wounds and in very zine -- skinny condition. the material found at the property makes it appear they were traiting them to fight. >> animal cruelty charges have not been filed yet. but baltimore city police and animal control are investigating this case. four people were busted during that raid. they are charged with possession of narcotics with intent to distribute. and new this morning, more than 100 dogs are safe after being rescued from a house fire in honeytown, maryland in calvert county. it took crews a few minutes to get the fire under control. but four dogs died in the

cold irair works et cetera way through the carolina and georgia with flurries during the morning. and as you can see, the cold air is zipping further south and may bring subfreezing temperatures to portions of florida this morning and the possibility of near freezing temperatures as far south as miami on tuesday morning. this is an extremely cold outbreak. we will get our fair share. snow showers and a few disturbances, the early morning veept sliding through. and the other one back towards the west may tip off afternoon showers. there will be one more sweeping through on tuesday afternoon. than we moderate a little bit before the next ripple in the weather pattern moves n overall, we expect as the morning temperatures show is mid-30s in baltimore, but 20s, teens and single digit to the west. the cold air moves and march towards the east. there's no way to avoid this one. the main stormed pulled out, but we are expecting the possibility of upwards of an inch of snow on grassy surface. most of the road too wet to

accumulate. there could be slick spodes. windy and temperatures steady or getting cooler from the mid to lower 30s during the afternoon. we will drop off tonight with possible flurries. low temperatures by daybreak down to 19 and winds will be out of the northwest at 15 to 20 miles per hour. it will be a blustery day on tuesday. a high of 29 with possible snow showers. check out the rest of the forecast. we are dry on wednesday, 31. 35 with snow showers especially to the south on thursday near 40 on friday. and then we are watching the development of a coastal storm sunday into early next week. as we get started for your monday morning rush, we don't have a lot going on this morning as justin mentioned. we have flurries in the area. fortunately, it's not causing problems on the roadways. driving conditions are not bad. 895 southbound, traffic is moving well towards the harbor tunnel. no problems up and down 95. we have an accident out in aberdeen at old philidelphia
