news time 5:40. we are still learning stories of heroism and survival in the monster tornadoes that ripped through the southern u.s. a woman in alabama says her friends, family took cover in the stairway as the house was rpped apart. that family came -- ripped apart. they came through with cuts and a few scratches. >> my friend says it was the stairway to heaven but wasn't the time to go up. >> 250 people were killed and more than 2000 injured in the storms in alabama alone. those images are not going to

welcome back on this wednesday may 4th of the this morning the white house is revising and correcting details about the deadly raid in pakistan that killed osama bin laden. with a-- when the navy seals stormed the compound, they say intelligence was 60 to 80% that this was the right place. also the white house says bin laden did not have a weapon but says his wife rushed a u.s. team member and she survived but was shot in the leg. >> it was a staggeringundertaking and there was no one else, i believe, other than the american group of military warriors who could do it. >> the navy seals took computer drives and dvd frs bin laden's

hideout. they are back in washington being debriefed and being evaluated as well. we are going to get a peek at 9/11 memorial set to go up for the 10th anniversary of the attacks in baltimore. renders will be released in two weeks and wreckage from the world trade center and the pentagon will be incorporated into a memorial functioning as a sun dial using the shadow of baltimore's trade center building. the names and birth dates of the 63 victims who called maryland home that were killed during the disaster will be on there. prosecutors are hoping for a second time in a second round to produce a different result in the new trial for two baltimore teens accused of animal cruelty. the brothers are accused of setting a dog on fire in 2009. the dog known as phoenix was euthanized. sherrie johnson is live at the courthouse this morning with the latest. sherrie. >> reporter: yes, we are here live in downtown baltimore where in just a few hours that retrial is scheduled to begin

for the case of two brothers. those twin brothers are accused of setting a pit bull on fire and later had to be euthanized. the twin brothers were 17 at the time of the incident. police say that the twins set the dog on fire and an officers used her sweater to put out the flames but the injuries were too severe. dog was euthanized in pennsylvania. the first trial against the brothers in february ended in a mistrial. jurors deliberated for two and a half days but didn't reach a unanimous decision. today prosecutors are going for round 2 on charges of animal cruelty and the mutilation and burning of phoenix the pit bull. so once again, that trial is expected to begin about 9:30 this morning here at courthouse. reporting live in downtown baltimore, sherrie johnson, abc2 news. 12 minutes until 6. today a baltimore county teen will be honored. 15-year-old will receive an award for helping to save his family during a house fire. charl yiey smelled smoke and
