the contestants. all 6 teams continue to work toward their goals. they are still losing weight and it is clearly starting to show. so far more than 300 pounds have been lost by all 12 contestants. this week, john and ma lena lead the pack losing another 13 pounds. kevin and rosslyn weren't far behind losing more than 10. the teams dropped a total of 37 pounds. tonight we continue showcasing the competitor working to drop the weight and change their lives. tonight charlie crowson introduces us to kevin williams and rosslyn andrews. what brought them to the extreme brick over 4. >> reporter: inspiration can come from anywhere and at any time. for kevin williams and rosslyn andrews competitors in extreme brick over 4, their inspiration comes from different generations. pushing they will to achieve their best. >> it's very challenging. it causes you to basically find

abc2 news. little bit of a chill in the air out there today but most of us staying dry other than of course the showers last night lingered into the first half of the day. 60 right now at bwi. winds west northwest at 15 gusting higher than that. barometer on the rise indicating some better weather moving in. boy, you see through the day though those clouds holding pretty tough out there. this is from the maryland science center looking north over the inner harbor. how about towson west elementary. tough to find much sunshine here. trees shaking tree pollen count. grass pollen count still high. we'll have an updated count at 6:00. take a look at this five sweeps in action not much out there. there's one small thunderstorm right along the state line with virginia there. you have to look real close to see that, but for most of the area things are actually looking pretty quiet. most of the active weather is

out to sea. temperatures statewide cooler north and best. 39 at deep creek lake. 50s hagerstown york and winchester. in fact we've got 57 in easton and 56 in ocean city right now. warmer early this morning as temperature pushed up close to 70. but for the afternoon hours things just kept getting cooler and cooler. that's what we're going to see out there as the evening wears onstedly dropping through the 50s. most of the active weather well to our south and west. this cluster of showers in west virginia diving south and west. i don't think we're going to see a lot around here other than stray showers here or there. and on the whole we look for improving weather to come in with an area of high pressure settling from west to east. going to take a while for that to happen. we'll stay cloudy tonight. it will feel a little damp out there certainly chilly but as this area moves further east and pushes the last of this system out to sea we look for better weather to continue to arrive into our cinco de mayo thursday. you see that cloudy tonight hit or miss shower maybe but most

of us looking dry and sunny by tomorrow afternoon. and then into friday a sunny start, but clouds rolling in the afternoon and it looks like a decent shot of a wave of scattered showers coming in friday night late into the evening. that could linger into saturday morning. so we'll watch that closely to kick off the weekend. but overnight tonight down to 40 with clearing skies and much much cooler. how about your thursday. not bad, 67 degrees. cinco de mayo looks good with some sun returning 67 and tomorrow night i any we're down to 43 or so cooling off pretty quick lick overnight once again. let's take a look ahead at the 7-day forecast here. how do things shape up. well, the chance for rain is going to come back in a really scattered way over the weekend. i don't see a lot of rain for the weekend watch it looks decent. both days up close to 70 with mornings in the 60s. but the one thing i have to say there will be the chance for a hit or miss shower saturday into sunday. so maybe not completely dry, but i think mostly dry for the

weekend. best chance of rain will be late friday evening. >> the temperatures look good though. >> i think we're getting to the part of year kelly you may get that one last little cold front. usually a day like this. man are we back here in march suddenly but it doesn't last. so it will warm back up. >> keep that umbrella handy. >> yes. >> thanks a lot wyatt. tonight many people have their eyes on the mississippi river. it's swollen and causing flooding throughout the midwest. the army corps of engineers blew up a levee flooding over a hundred thousand acres of farmland. that's the explosion in the back. what that did was that brought the water levels down in small towns nearby but now other towns along the mississippi in missouri and tennessee are sandbagging as their water levels rise. >> they are moving their trucks their cars, they are losing them. i'm not losing.

if officials say evacuate i'll be gone. >> they are advising people to be cautious and remain alert. that flooding created a real dangerous situation for a group of boy scouts and their leader. they were stranded since saturday in the witchita national forest wilderness in a remote part of southwest arkansas. the rushing waters of the kay to river were too dangerous to cross. the campers stayed near a mountain. as the floodwaters quickly rose it was not far from there flash floods killed about 20 campers. these scouts knew where to go in case the conditions change. >> we don't mind being cold we don't mind being wet. we don't want to be cold and wet. that was our biggest challenge we had the ability to create fresh water. we had food, we had shelter, we had everything we needed. it's a matter of waiting mother nature out. she came in a little early and put us a little late. >> arkansas national guard

defibrillators save lives but it can be risky. there is a new type that may reduce some of the risks without compromising efficiency. it's planted underneath the skin instead of this the heart. according to a report from the international heart ribbon society. the new device performed with 100% accuracy. asthma cases are on the rise in the u. s. researchers say the number of people diagnosed with the condition grew by 4.3 million between 2001 and 2009. the report shows nearly one in 12 americans are diagnosed with asthma by 2009. the cost to treat asthma are inflating too up from about $53 billion in 2002 to 56 billion in 2007. cdc is not certain what's causing this spike in asthma
