closed. no construction projects going on right now. the cones are till there -- still there. what started off as a day of family, friends and festivities ended quite differently in downtown baltimore. >> violence erupted in the city leaving a boy with a gunshot wound and another man dead from stab wound. linda so is live downtown with the latest on the 4th of july gone bad, linda. >> reporter: well, this is not the type thing you want to hear about. outside the restaurant, mccormick and economic, police say a man got into a fight with a group of people and he was stabbed in the neck. eye happened after the fireworks show ended last night at 10. the man was taken to shock trauma where he died. then in a separate incident, a 4-year-old boy was shot in the leg as he was standing with his dad at light and pratt street at the inner harbor. police say the boy's father heard a loud noise and the . started to complaining his leg was hurt and the dad realized his son had been shot e was

taken to johns hopkins hospital and his injuries are considered nonlife-threatening. thousands were at the harbor. and police promised heavy security with hundreds of officers on patrol. earl whyer in the evening, the police-- earlier in the evening, the police commissioner held a conference to coordinate efforts with different agencies. later this morning, police will talk about what happened last night. but, again, a man who got into a fight outside the restaurant last night, he was stabbed in the neck and later died. then around the inner harbor after the fireworks show a.4- year-old boy was shot in the leg standing near light and pratt streets with his dad. live downtown, linda so, abc2 news. the search continues this morning for a missing boater in pasadena. the department of natural resources police are calling this a fatal accident. they have identified the victim as a 25-year-old named james kane.

police say a 911 call came in around 4:30 monday afternoon and within 15 minutes rescue boats were searching for the man. investigators say a woman on the boat with kane was rescued by a passing boater. but his body was not recovered. >> units arrived on scene on the water and found a run away boat circling out there in the water with no one aboard. >> the search continued from land as you can see from air, too, until dark on monday night. no word on what caused the man and woman to go overboard. a 6-year-old boy is dead after being pulled from the water at sandy point state park. officials are saying that they got the call around 8 a child was missing and by the time emergency crews arrived, the boy was pulled from the water. he was then taken to anne arundel county medical center with serious injuries and later died. an investigation is ongoing. a south baltimore man wasfound shot in a parking garage. police spanned after 2 mop morning -- responded after 2 monday morning to reports of gunshot where they found the

man in his 20s shot in the chest. the man whose name has yet to be released was taken to a hospital. there's no word on his condition. the walletmore city police -- baltimore city police department is looking for more officers and offering free testing. you need to be 20 1/2 years old, testing begins at 12:30 today at baltimore police headquarters and then again at 6:00 this evening and they will do another testing friday the 8th at noon and tuesday the 12th at 12:30 and then again at 6:00 and tuesday the 19th at 12:30 again at 6. all the information is right there on the screen. all of this is happening at baltimore police headquarters. state senator pew has made her intent known that she wants to be baltimore's city next mayor and she will make it official by filing the papers. she is sit to -- set to file with the board of elections today at 10 a.m. and joins a host of others including otis rolling and stephanie rawlings-blake.
