darlington. this one coming in at around 6:00 eastern. this one blew through and another series of showers moving through overnight. i think we get more clouds and could spark midday storms. especially toward dc, richmond, virginia. then the threat builds back in for the rest of us. we have a report of a disabled vehicle on the inner loop at wilkins. i-95 north of 195, we have a broken down car stopped. you can see the police officer there. most of our traffic is running southbound. this is the jfx, starting to

now more pink slips are being handed out. the wall street journal is reporting this morning that bank of america is cutting 3500 jobs this quarter. and it is working on restructuring plans that could eliminate thousands of more additional positions. the initial cuts are expected to be completed by the end of september, with some employees having already been notified. it is possible that in the end, at least 10,000 positions may be cut. the airline that flies for puerto rico will now soon be heading to aruba as well. the service will be rolled out december 17th, just in time

for a sunny holiday get away. fares start at $159 each way. retailers are trying a few new tricks and are raising prices on merchandise an average of 10% this fall. they are trying to offset the rising costs for material and labor. stores are trying to hide the fact you are going to be paying more and merchants are worried customers who are weighed down will cringe at the high prices. certainly time is running out for you to save money to back to school shopping. because that tax free holiday ends tomorrow. however, in celebration of it, shoppers will benefit from this weekend's back to school super sale. it features three days of special promotions and shoppers can enjoy the family fun weekend, which they say includes live music and even some dancing. it is easier for you to buy

pushing through central virginia. yes we could get some by midday, 84. through this evening, which may include the ravens game. we have a broken down car on the inner loop at bell air road. we are doing okay for the most par on the beltway. traffic is moving fine there 695 at liberty road. we have the jfx moving smoothly. volume running southbound. we are also doing fine at the 41st street overpass. this morning some people are waking up without power or have major damage to their homes. now the clean up begins. sherrie johnson is live this morning with what people are dealing with. >> reporter: crews worked all night and were able to restore

power to over 20,000 customers. right now we are told 1100 customers are still without power and folks in the perry hall area are cleaning up this morning after major damage there. there was damage to 12 units in the chapel village condominiums off bel air road and perry hall. a bolt of lightning hit the building and sparked a fire there. no one was hurt. everyone made it out of the building safely. fire crews had at least two lightning strikes to deal with. a homeowner on fox well road heard a loud boom. lightning hit the shed next to his home. folks say a very scary nigh. on the one that hit this building it was like bang, bang, that quick. no pause. once again in the perry

the end of this week. a man from gaithersburg named gary giardano is being held as a speck. learning this morning about rabid bats you need to be aware of. 12 bats have been captured in the city and they were testing positive for rabies. if you have been bitten or scratched, we are told immediately wash that wound, get some medical attention and call animal control. >> if they find one in the household, confine it to a space, call 311 and make a complaint. human rabies cases are extremely rare. the last one, in our case, dates back to 1976. the maryland department of health is confirming the first

case of west nile virus this year. 23 marylanders were inspected. if you want more information, all you have to do is head to our website abc2news.com. also this morning, three convicted people in memphis, tennessee. they were convicted of killing three boys back in 1993. they could be freed in a court hearing today. the west memphis three are expected to attend a court hearing in jonesboro, arkansas. the deal is in the works where the men can be freed and maintain their innocence. today in the midwest, governors from states along the missouri river will meet in omaha, nebraska talking about flood and go future preparations for flooding, happening again today. president obama begins his family vacation on marcia's vineyard. he was promoting his economic
