i'm mary caraccioli join me on campus to talk money. i'm mary caraccioli join me on campus ♪ torrential rains made their way to maryland, tropical depression lee causing issues this morning. this was happening all day power line concerns in a neighborhood and dangers it's posing. dry conditions fueling flames right now in texas, the evacuations are forcing hundreds from their homes.

fire and water, two big stories. new video of flooding south, parks desserted as tropical depression lee came through the area. streets are flooded, parks are flooded, knoxville, after four inches fell monday. the rain is not over yet. the downpour will continue even in to today and tomorrow. storms paralyzing the south, continuing the case through the the day. justin berk following this story and how it's affecting us here in maryland. we begin this morning with scott goldberg on the hundreds of thousands of people being affected this morning. >> reporter: gone but determined no to the be forgotten , the system that was tropical storm lee is soaking north from southern louisiana, in to georgia and beyond. lee dumped 10 inches in some

places and brought along winds that turned in to dozens of tornados. really throughout our childhood. even like through college and we were just too scared to open a bakery together officials confirmed three in atlanta, and across the state, georgia's emergency management agency said winds damaged 100 homes, richard and his wife hid in their closet. georgia power reported more than 5000 customers without electricity. what is left is moving in to the northeast, the part of the country coming out from under hurricane irene. >> we had a really serious be 3- day window to watch with the rainfall. >> reporter: people simply can't handle another drop. >> we need more water. we really, i don't know, what we are going to do. >> reporter: ght have a silver lining, pruprom the remnants of lee could push

katia out to sea, sparing the east coast. pictures are incredible that we are seeing. >> this is across mississippi, alabama incomes to georgia. we are getting rain right now. any chance we could get that? >> a piece of lee, as we have been talking about, deflecting katia off of the coast. that made a lot of headline and added anxiety, this storm had initially projected by our storm center to stay out to sea. winds 105 miles per hour. up through an eye wall replacement cycle. watch it race as it gets caught up by our system. we got our problems to deal with, remnants of lee chugging along a frontal boundary.

we are on the cooler side verses threat across the southeast. it will be wet, cooler, my suggestion as i put my 5 year old in jeans, and a long sleeve shirt and raincoat, temperatures will be 60s. slow traffic, tough be careful out there. 95 northbound, aberdeen, an accident with injuries reported. looking at 95, southwest, north of 195, doing fine at this point. ahead earlier 95 southbound, 195, that accident is cleared out of the way. we have a problem on the outer loop, liberty, stop and go. it's slow all the way around to 70. drive times affected. you will slow down in places. 83 southbound, you are not having a problem. five minutes, doing okay on 95

en maryland family goes to extremes to finds their missing dog. >> they not only blast is thousands of posters across the metro dc area, they brought in trackers from out of state. see, beth and jeff, they consider sassafras a member of their family. the beagle was lost by a dog walker. since then, she has been spotted as far away as american university most recently in chevy chase maryland. they set up a website, dedicated phone line, they hired professional dog trackers, the cost so far, more
