northwest side. topside, extremely light traffic as well. this is at harford. no issues on either loop. starting out well charlie. after four years in an italian prison she got her first taste of freedom. a italian court overturned her murder conviction. knox and family in hand. linda so joining us now with what both families had to say. >> reporter: the sister says the family is thankful the nightmare is over. now they are looking forward to flying home to seattle, they will board a commercial night from italy today. you are looking at live pictures now out of perugia, a press conference with the family of maredith kircher. imagine their shock and dismay at the murder conviction that was overturned. 24-year-old amanda knox sat trembling before the judge when she heard the decision to

overturn her conviction she broke down and sobbed. her family who had been fighting to clear their daughter for four years embraced each other. for maredith kircher's family, they said it wasn't what they were hoping for. they don't see how the conviction could be to radically overturned. amanda was sentenced to 26 years, she spent the last four years in prison. her sister says they are elated to be taking amanda home. >> we are thankful amanda's nightmare is over. she suffered for four years for a crime she did not commit. >> no word on what time amanda and her family will board the flight and arrive in seattle. we will keep you posted. linda so, abc2 news. police are searching for a

prisoner. police were transporting a man to jail and he managed to break free of handcuffs, shackles and orange jump suit. he is wanted for burglaries and kicked out the window and escaped. police caught up with him. he faces a string of new charges. john hopkins student had a scary encounter. she says she was sexually assaulted in an alley. the victim was walking back to her on campus apartment and all police know is they are looking for a black male, medium complex with a muscular build. if you live in southwest baltimore county, check things over before you get in your car. police say there have been a string of car thefts. more than 20 cars stolen, broken in to, between 1:00 and 4:00 , the thieves are

targeting dodges, chryslers, jeeps with model years 1994- 2006, all vehicles have been abandoned, damaged or crashed before they are stolen. if you see something string you are asked to report it. social security worker was shot. it happened in wood lawn. 12,000 people go to work there everyday. this morning kuren redmond joins us live. >> reporter: police are still searching for the armed suspect who shot a social security administration worker on his lunch break. the shooting happened not far from the wood lawn campus. on a path not far from the main building. the victim was able to make his way back to the campus before collapsing. police believe the shooting was connected to a robbery. the social security administration was locked down for several hours while police searched for the shooter. police brought in dogs and search helicopters up to no

avail. after the shooting there was a report of a suspicious package at the health and human services building also on this campus, that turned up nothing. we are told that the victim sustained nonlife threatening injuries and expected to be okay as for the suspect, so far this morning , there is no description on the suspect. kuren redmond, abc2 news. those in harford maybe feeling frustration. if you were waiting for the new intersection to open, you are going to wait a day. overpass supposed to clear up traffic on 924 and 24. taking traffic up and over the cars, they will be moving between shopping centers on either side of 24. this is the second time the rain forced crews to delay the opening. it's been pushed to wednesday morning at 5:00. more comp coverage tomorrow on good morning maryland. residents are upset over a
