270. a little heavier traffic southbound which is at the top of your screen. the road work northbound is in the right lane and that should be picked up within the next half-hour. people around the world mourning the death of steve jobs. jobs died wednesday after a long struggle with pancreatic cancer. >> reporter: well, the death of steve jobs hit many people hard, but especially at apple headquarters in california. jobs will be remembered as a creative visionary of apple containing the world with the ipad, the ipod and the iphone, while turning apple into the largest retailer of music with itunes. in 2008 jobs announced he was battling pancreatic cancer. in august he stepped down as ceo of the company. >> i think everybody realizes that he spent a lot of his last

the driver fled the scene. witnesses described the car. people eventually arrested that driver. a police pursuit turned dadley. police started following a pickup truck driving erratically. the pursuit ended when the driver lost control a the intersection of 100 and katherine avenue. police are still trying to identify that man. the wall street protests continue both here and across other states, about eight major cities now reporting the protests. it all started in new york back on september 17 and has since spread. this is the signs of the crowd that gathered in new york wednesday. demonstrators say they're angry over the high unemployment and what they're now calling corporate greed. these are protesters in st. louis. activists there took the streets downtown holding posters and chanting. demonstrators called on the bank of america to invest in

the city. here in baltimore, protesters have taken to the issue as well. protesters have been downtown overnight for day two. linda, it's a little chillier tonight. how many are still out there? >> reporter: we have a couple dozen out. it's pretty subdued because some of the folks are trying to sleep. they have set up shop here. you've got all kind of things going on. they've been making signs since the beginning over there. you have a food station, people can grb a bite to eat, get some coffee. those sleeping bags, people are actually in them sleeping. they have been out here since tuesday at noon. you've got different stations. joining us this morning is jake to tell us more about this. tell us why you guys are out here. >> we're actually out here because we believe that 99% with a little less better off

welcome back on this thursday morning. ocean city, yesterday a health scare was discovered in one of the town's premier hotels causing it to end its season early. this is the hotel plaza. three people have been hospitalized with the disease. they got sick about a week after staying at the hotel. not yet cleared how they acquired the illness. final cultures will be taken next week. here's what you need to look for. symptoms at legionnaires disease are very similar to

five things you need to know before heading out the door this morning. baltimore kicks off beer week today. the official kickoff gets under way tonight. and in baltimore, it's a four day boat festival. the inner harbor will be flooded with boats, boat lovers and water lovers. the event is trollerfest. it includes boat shows, activities on the dock and of course live entertainment. and in recognition to those who have been impacted by breast cancer, the mayor will speak at a lighting ceremony at preliminary lick co--- pimlico race course. and 10 months after a shooting left her with serious injuries, congresswoman gabrielle giffords will return to d.c. this afternoon. giffords will be attending a military retirement ceremony for her husband mark kelly. and sarah palin announced wednesday she will not be seeking the republican

nomination for the pregnancy. in today's educational alert, the governor and a number of other officials are teaming up to kick off anti-bullying campaigns. the governor and first lady as well as fellow educators and others are kicking off a national bully prevention month campaign. that's going to be later this morning. we'll have more on that on abc news. three school districts are now going to see quite a bit of money coming their way. the state is going to give $18 million to howard, montgomery and anne arundel counties. the tax brought in $6 million in july in its first month of action. in new york, hundreds of college students walked out of class wednesday. they're protesting tuition hikes and budget cuts. under the new plan, tuition would rise as much as $6,500. the troubles for amanda

door cold front. the really nice weather comes back in on the other side. it's not even that chilly today, but compared to yesterday's 76, it will feel a little cooler. we're aiming for a high of about 68 degrees. the normal is 70. tonight we drop back to about 42. it will be crisp north and west. there could be a little bit of frost if we have a chance to slip back into the 30s. then we warm up. yes, we are looking at temperatures back into the lower 70s tomorrow, into the weekend. we'll be pushing that 8 oh degree mark. i've pushed it up to sunday, monday. i think it hangs on one more day to tuesday. i think we can agree with that before the next round of rain. next week, it's interesting as some computer models try to develop a tropical system up the gulf of mexico that could be reaching us with rain by wednesday and beyond. still pretty quiet out there.

we have inner loop road work wrapping up at liberty road. all of our overnight road work should be done in the next five or 10 minutes. steady traffic in both directions, no incidents reported here. at the harbor tunnel, very quiet as you can see. we had two way traffic overnight northbound. normal operations under way now. well, a british man is now locked up this morning after a very unusual chase. a joyride that cost thousands in damages and how that ride came to an abrupt end. plus, they're some of the cutest animals in the world.

just a few minutes before 5:00. a british man will spend next four and a half years in prison after police were leading a chase while riding a forklift. authorities say that man plowed through a field in a cemetery where he destroyed several head stones. he was taken down after that forklift blew a tire. police estimate the damage to be around $23,000. to pakistan now where more than 125 people have died after a severe fever outbreak. the pakistan government blaming the flood and scorching heat in the outbreak. so far 12,000 people have been infected in august. in greece, police are preparing for massive demonstrations. nearly 20,000 protesters took to the streets yesterday shutting down the transportation system. the -- and government offices. they say the cuts amount to as much as 40% of their take home
