weather app link right there. news of the day, our concern tonight is for william mcquane from germantown. his mother was found dead inside her montgomery county home. the police have a man in custody. but we still don't know where the 11-year-old boy is. >> reporter: the police have confirmed that has an arrest has been made in the case. but they have not been able to find the 11-year-old. william mcquane was seen the last time at september 30th. his mother was found last night in their apartment. her car, a honda suv was missing. there were trauma to her body and they're calling her death a homicide. her suv was found but they're not saying where. a suspect has been detained but they're not saying who they are hoping that william is okay. >> he's a fantastic little kid.

anonymous tips hotline. it seems that the annapolis man they believe behind a multi- state paving scheme is taking his operation on the road again. we told you about tommy clack two weeks ago. and new victims say they were overcharged. >> reporter: he's facing criminal charges. it seems that he simply moved has paving scheme and potentially rolls people. this time in howard county. we'll hear from his latest victims, including a 79-year- old said that he never authorized him to do any work but his crew simply started paving anyway. clack is facing criminal charges for operating without a license and theft. they're looking into more than a dozen cases. he could be raking up more victims that have not learned about his scheme till it's too late. >> it's shocking me that he's

in tonight's consumer alert. chances are your child's booster seat is not doing the jobs. it lifts kids four to eight to the seatbelt fits them properly but a new study found that more than half of the seats don't work like they should. >> reporter: most parents know don't do this. but not enough do this for the four to eight-year-olds in a booster seat. study have been shown that it cuts the risk of injury in a crash by 45%. >> main job of a booster is to elevate a child and help position the lap and shoulder

belt so they're providing the best protection in a crash. >> reporter: but not all seats are created equal. some offer a better boost than others. more than half still are not good enough. the lap belt should go across the child's upper thigh, not the abdomen. and the shoulder strap should fit in the middle of the shoulder, not the arm and the neck. the insurance institute looked at more than 80 booster seats and if they worked well in any kind of vehicle. six were not recommended. parents don't have to spend and arm and a leg to protect their children's arms and leg. >> you can get a best bet for less than $15. you cannot tell it by looking at the seat. you need to look at our ratings to take the guesswork out of

the booster that will do a good job. >> reporter: and the number of seats that provide a good protection have increased every year since 2009. parents and children have a greater selection and greater security for their child. foreclosure filings are on the rise. but they're taking longer to get sold or repossessed by the lenders. the foreclosure filings went up less than 1% from the previous quarter but that was fueled by 14% jump in the first time default notices. lenders are cracking down on those that fall behind on the mortgages. the day to pleat the foreclosure -- to complete the foreclosure process took 343 days. we had 404,000 claims compared to a thousand more the week before for unemployment. they say that is too many

people losing their jobs for the unemployment rate to improve. all right. let's get into it. we've been tracking some interesting looking storms south of our state in virginia. that is the main cluster. you see about three different storm cells clustering up into one large cell and we have a couple of tornado warnings for the manassas area and west of the washington d.c. area to be specific. tracking north, northeastward on track to go just west of washington. eventually we'll move up to barnsville and frederick. but make it will slide a little further east. there are 500 strikes northward. and overall, it's a relatively slow moving cluster, average speed, 1520 miles an hour. it all depends if this thing keeps its strength. you see the main cluster

tracking up to manassas and yorkshire in 15 minutes an oakton. we'll see what happens here. but it would take it eventually through montgomery and western howard county. but that would still be more than an hour away. keep an eye on that back here in baltimore, it's the fog and the mist that we've been dealing with. very moist conditions out there. and take a look at some of our whether net cameras. it's tough to see out there. a little clearing at the moment but not much. and rollin park, the fog gets thicker and thicker through much of the day. temperatures, what a contrast, 70 and near 80 in easton. but to the west, we got 50s and 60s. it's one of those days where a boundary is draped on top of the state and south that have boundary. that is where we have the brief

tornado watch for the remainder of the evening anne arundel county south and high humidity. this warmth and humidity can help flare up a couple strong storm cells and we'll watch for that overnight. and same overall circulation that we've been watching for several days. it is still impacting things a a little bit. the cold front that is hoping to drive today's weather and will do so about this time tomorrow. front pushing in and warm front tonight with a few isolated strong storms and we got the cold front tomorrow that will bring in another round of showers and storms. we think it clears out by late tomorrow night and setting the stage for a clear and fall weekend. it will be breezy on saturday. and the round of showers tonight and another round blows through tomorrow afternoon. business friday, 6:00 to 8:00, we should see clearing and breezy and crystal clear around the state on saturday. maybe a few high, thin clouds,
