i man is attacked and shot several time at the university of maryland baltimore campus. a maryland boy missing and his mother found murdered. what the police have learned in the search to find the 11-year- old last seen in september. and a community that has seen their fair share of weather phenomenons lately. what has people in virginia cleaning up a big mess after a possible tornado rolled through. good morning. it's friday, october 14th. let's get to the weather. you want to know what is going on out there. justin berk is standing by with the report. rough weather yesterday. six reports of tornadoes in virginia. nothing at college park, despite the fact that there were three alerts put out. but nothing transpired in college park. and we're looking at another round of rough weather and we had clearing overnight. it's quite mild, almost a tropical sense in the air. and the circulation in central virginia and the leading edge

of the rain is pushing in our direction. and that could make for a little turbulent late morning. i think this is our concern time frame. and that is probably out of the district of columbia, annapolis, baltimore and westminster and through bel air. that will be the prime time for rough weather today. 66 is where we start this morning and midday an early afternoon, heavy thunderstorms gusty winds and we're in for a high of 72. we'll break down the race forecast wind wise coming up in a moment. here's tonna with a look at -- tonna with a look at traffic. we have a broken down car just before the toll plaza. the only thing that we have going on right now is the outer loop, the ramp to harrisburg expressway northbound. you see there's a tractor- trailer accident on the right. traffic is getting by slowly on the left. the outer loop delays west of york road. and a quick look at the beltway at old court road. outer loop is the oncoming

traffic there and also slow at liberty road. drive times are still okay for the most part. 95 southbound and white marsh, six to 8 minutes. and 795 to 70, nine minutes. a busy downtown garage usually filled with students and patients, but yesterday a man was critically injured after he was shot in the back several times. here's more on the details in this evolving case. >> reporter: the parking garage is located the heart of the university of maryland medical center. it started off as an attempted robbery, but the victim was pistol whipped and shot in the back. >> he was accosted and he was struck multiple times with handgun rounds. he's listed critical condition at this time. >> reporter: and there's more

puzzling information. the police said that the vick had been stabbed in a home invasion not long before that attack. that injury is what brought him to the clinic in the first place. and officers are still conducting the investigation and reviewing surveillance footage. police are trying to figure out what caused a deadly crash in colorado. a van collided with a tractor- trailer and five children. and the driver of the van was killed. and the driver of the van was a sheriff's deputity that ran a group for adopted and foster children. occupy protesters in new york will have to move. the private park wants them to clear out by 7:00 this morning that is for crews to come in and clean up. they will be allowed to return as long as the park is open, clean and willing to adhere to the posted rules. a junior high school student is pulled out of class for a groom violation.

he has two parts in his hair. in the school handbook under the grooming and hair design is forbidden. but now it's raising many eyebrow. >> the parents give you permission to do such things then it's okay to do that but to take the initiative and to say i'm going color in his hair with a permanent marker that was disrespectful. >> you can see the bottom of the two lines is filled n and the school's principal said that she'll discuss this and that the teacher such called the parents beforehand. one suburb in illinois wants to ban eating behind the wheel. they want to do away with putting the makeup on while behind the wheel. so other things might distract you while on the road.

elkridge and westbound 195 and 95 at wooster loo for an accident. this is slow from 795. and the top side of the beltway, the ramp from the outer loop to the harrisburg expressway, the right lane is blocked, you'll be forced into the left lane. more on the coverage of the missing 11-year-old maryland boy william mcquain. he was last seen late september and wednesday his mother was found dead in their apartment. and now there's an arrest. >> reporter: investigators discovered his mother, jane mcquain dead in her bedroom wednesday night after a friend reported her missing and the authorities immediately issued an amber alert for the 11-year- old boy. on thursday, they arrested jane mcquain's ex-husband, curtis lopez in north carolina and charged him with first-degree murder. they found jane's car but not william. people said that lopez was

recently seen removing property from jane's home and putting it into her car. and investigators said that mcquain had suffered trauma to her body but would not reveal more pending the autopsy. william mcquain was a sixth grader the martin luther king, jr. middle school. but they said they normally send a reported phone call home after an unexplained absence and they are sharing their timeline with the police. new video out of south baltimore. this is a house fire that broke out after 11:00 left night on the 1800 block of mchenry street. it started in a bedroom and no one has been injured. no word on what caused that fire. and we would like to say thank you for david rose for getting the pictures into us this morning. people are lining up. the iphone 4 will hit store shelves this morning. and sherrie johnson is live

and our storm center. temperature race time low 50s downtown and winds west to southwest. and the orange arrows indicating that we could have gusts over 20 miles an hour and that may be an issue crossing lake mount belo and the 33rd street. that could be an issue tomorrow to deal with. general frame tomorrow 30 miles an hour. midday we're looking for low 60s. hopefully you'll all finish in good shape and we'll finish the weekend 69, low 70s next week. in elkridge, the earlier accident on 100 west is cleared and 95. this is 695 and old court road. it will be slow around from 795 over to liberty road. take a quick look at the top side of the beltway. this is the harrisburg expressway and the right lane is blocked and the lanes will be almost to york road. you're forced into the left
