reverend dr. martin luther king had the official opening top king memorial on the national mall. >> reporter: a large crowd dedicated a national memorial in washington like no other. it is the first to honor a man of justice, peace and color. >> i know we will overcome. i know there are better days ahead. i know this because of the man towering over us. >> reporter: president obama, the nation's first black president connected his own legacy to that of dr. king. he placed sign copies of his speeches into a time capsule at the memorial. a civil rights icon noted how his friend changed the world. >> 48 years ago we have signs

that said white men, colored men, white women, colored women. those signs are gone. they will not return. >> reporter: dr. king's towering 30-foot statue was serenaded with celebration. >> the entire king family was proud to witness this day. >> reporter: and music. at last, this american icon, now sits with the great landmarks in the nation's capitol. the names of 89 fallen firefighters have been added to a national memorial. among the firefighters honor today, a baltimore city fire captain donald hubble. back in february 2008 the 42- year-old died after suffering a heart attack during a train

drill at the city fire department's training acam my. national fallen firefighters memorial is honoring 72 who died in the line of duty from last year and 17 from previous years. now the latest tonight on the search for an 11-year-old. police are searching two parks. annapolis regional park and little bennett regional park. he has been missing two weeks. the boy's mother was found dead wednesday night. curtis lopez was arrested and charged in the murder of the mother. it looks like help is on the way to find lisa irwin. she was ten months old when she was reported missing october 4th. the national guard has been called in to lend a hand in the search. 25 guardsmen are crawling and searching for the infant. the guard is focusing on woods less than one mile west of the

family's home. they are looking for clues that might have been overlooked on the previous searches. if you are tuning in, sad news to report from the las vegas motor speedway. in a fiery crash of 15 cars, 33- year-old dan wheldon was killed in the second turn. the indiana two-time winner smashed in the wall after turn two. the injuries were unsurvivable. they canceled the rest of the race and did a five lap salute. tonight baltimore county police discovered a body found in a dumpster on the 200 block of north charles street. there were no signs of trauma. a shooting in east baltimore left a 20-year-old man dead. it happened shortly after midnight. marcus jones was shot several times and taken to john's

hopkins hospital. two men are recovering tonight after being stabbed in dundalk. it happened in the 700 block of wright avenue 9:30 saturday night. two men were taken to the hospital in serious condition. not clear on what lead up to the stabbings. today turned out to be another fabulous day. lots of sunshine in the forecast. i hop -- hope you enjoyed it. clouds are moving in. change is on the way. let me tell you what's going on. right now we are nice and dry. as we head further to the north you are dealing with rain. if you are travels take you to pennsylvania be prepared for that. some will try to work their way into our area as we go through the overnight. we'll stay mainly dry. temperatures not so bad at the inner harbor. 72 degrees. 70s winchester and kulpeper.

underground world, homeland security secretary told us violence is also escalating. >> we see the rise of homegrown extremism. some inspired by al queda. some inspired by other ideologies. but all committing violence in the name of an ideology and trying to disrupt and kill. >> reporter: malicia members we spent time with in michigan say they are not out to hurt others but help when needed. he didn't want to give his last name but said in five years their malicia has grown 25%. he and other malicia members in the group say they are opened to anyone regardless of race, religion or political beliefs. the law center and homeland

security say these groups may be the exception and radical malicias are sprouting into communities across the u.s. with strict antigovernment beliefs ready to strike at almost anyone. >> we are seeing police officers coming after malicia groups. >> reporter: for his father it is not about violence but survival. this weekend the enemy wins. >> i spy with my little cries. >> reporter: bubba captures the other team's flag without notice winning the game but preparing for the worse. >> i think it is fear that all hell will break loose. coming up tonight at 11:00, we'll hear from analyst who say the department of homeland security isn't doing enough to track some of these potentially dangerous malicia groups. we had a beautiful day with
