monday. >> it's a big storm. it was hard to miss this one. what's interesting is that we've got ourselves solid rain running up with 95. you cross the bay it breaks up a little bit. let's take a little tour and sew you where the rain is this morning with the heaviest rain pushing on the north and east side. annapolis right on the edge of a break. looks like we've got a little knot of heavy stuff if that is a legitimate cell there could be some ground cover there but we are watching the rain push itself up from 97. the heavy stuff looks like it's north eastern baltimore county and off towards bellaire. right now let's talk about that traffic this morning because no doubt it's going to be slow. >> it is. you have to be careful out there with the wet roads and make sure you leave enough braking distance with the car in front of you. no accidents on city or county

roads in baltimore. this is the beltway on the northwest side. a life look at 795. light traffic out there and it looks like they're slowing down so that is a good sign. 895 on the northbound side we have a broken down car there on the right shoulder. traffic is getting by, not getting affected because it is so light out there. police believe they found the body of the 11-year-old missing since late september. search dogs found the remains in the woods near clarksburg. this is certainly not the ending people were hopin. >> reporter: well, that's right, charley. this is a sad ending, an ending that we certainly were not hoping for and maryland police found the remains yesterday that they believe are 11-year-old william mccain. the child's stepfather curtis lopez is the primary suspect in the case. investigators found the remains of a young african american

child in montgomery county in a wooded area. the search spanned about 30,000 acres for several days. clothing on the body appears to match what williams was wearing on october 1st, the last day they have evidence of him alive. >> we have camera footage at a storage facility with william at the 13,000 block of atier ya drive in german town. the footage was from the morning of october 1st. the clothing on the body appears similar to what william would you say wearing on october 1st. >> now, curtis lopez, the man william was with on the surveillance video was arrested in north carolina in connection with the murder of william's mother. lopez is likely to return to maryland where he'll be charged in her . baltimore city police are looking for a man who they say raped a 13-year-old girl.

the girl was walking down the sidewalk when the man came up to her, led her into an empty row home and assaulted her. >> it should not be open like that at all. at all. >> city housing said inspectors last noted a secheirodoor back in july. the city tries to check each vacant house every 90 days but that can be a tall order and no records anyone reporting that door had been missing. en arrest has been made in the case of a girl murdered. jessica's body was found in the basement with stab wounds. her stepfather was involved with divorce proceedings with jessica's mother. police are expected to release more information later this morning. a mall in best minister, it happened right outside a movie theater. the fight left one man in the hospital and another facing serious charges. police say the 19-year-old

michael fisher jr. stabbed dominick miller in the stomach. miller was taken to shock trauma and fisher was released after posting bail but he faces first and second degree assault charges. it's been more than month since the grand prix race and they've been crunching numbers since the labor day weekend. the grand prix didn't generate as much money as people were expecting. the governor said the grand prix would produce 60 to (7) 500-0000 in overall economic impact. baltimore mayor says it will be a game changer for the city and in this new study the race came in with about $25 million and only about 10 million of that was from out of state visitors. >> what we did is went and asked people. how much are you going to spend? are you staying in a hotel? and of course nobody was staying in a hotel so they weren't spending much. >> a spokesman for the mayor

questioned the sample size and added the game changer comment was referring to the city of baltimore. today we'll find out just how big a raise resip yepts are going to get. social security checks will now include a cost of living adjustment. it's expected to be between 3.5 and 3.7%. it will come out today when the government releases information on inflation. it's possible some people won't see the full amount of that cost of living increase because medicare premiums are going up as well which cuts into the amount of money seniors get from the government. challenges may be on the rise for kids with disabilities. how amendments to the no child left behind could prevent your child from getting a diploma. and plus, why you may see a closed sign if you have your local apple store day. a live look this morning at our nation's capitol.

education alert for you this morning. students with disabilities may be facing new challenges in the class room. advocates proposed an amendment to no child left behind will allow schools to take students off the track for di plea that as early as third grade. parents of disabled children say their kids thrive when challenged in a main stream classroom. >> i see this is lowering the expectations for students with disabilities. research has shown when they are held to the same high standards as every other student they can achieve and they will learn math and they will learn to read. >> the amendment expected to be offered by a repub listen kay

senator from georgia today and we have yet to hear back from maryland's two senators on where they stand on that position. >> until now women had only two testing onnings for down syndrome, a blood test or amnioowe centesis which is accurate but rhisty. we're also told the test is available here in baltimore. all you need to do is ask your doctor. all right. so we all know the trick, classes going long, you're getting bored, eyes getting heavy so you take a bathroom break. they're going to put a lid on the problem. kids at every green park high school are only allowed to leave class three times a semester to go to the rest room. that is it. if they go more than that they'll have to make up all missed class time after school so teachers can amend that policy if they bant but the prips pal says they have plenty of time if they want to go between classes. we want to know what you think. join the conversation by heading

announced its forever stamp is going to go up a . employees at the apple head quarters are going to pay tribute to steve jobs today during a memorial service. apple stores will reportedly close for 3 hours so employees can take part in that service. the death toll risen to 25 in 12 states all lirpged to listeria outbreak in cantaloupe. it's now being called the deadliest outbreak in food in 25 years. now, it is the 6th death in colorado around the second that they place in new york. several drugs known as bath salts are labeled as controlled substances. they're not real bath salts but they're drugs made to look like the salt and can cause severe medical problems. the state department of health asked for emergency orders of those drugs to the state

22 nd and we have the walkup registration going on right now. and that run from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. each day and it runs up until saturday the 22nd and the hours for that day are from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. >> very cool. you know, yesterday county officials they had this pep rally, and people are lighting up their buildings. we see it around town. what do you want people to remember when they see pink? >> what we really strive for when people see the pink is really to raise the awareness. we want everybody to take action. this breast cancer awareness month and really schedule their mammograms and go and get screened and encourage everybody else to do so as well. >> and the motto this year it's all about action. >> less talk, more action. that's really what we're striving for. >> so the big nuggets for the race. what do we need to know? what time does it start? if people want to come out can they do that? >> yep, we even accept registrations on race day. we encourage everybody to get out there early. we open at 6:00 a.m.

his 999 tax proposal. stay tuned. you'll hear from the candidates in a couple of those heated exchanges. a creative thief used a crane to steel a jeep off a lot in indiana. it all happened on camera. a crane loaded a 2008 jeep wrangler on to a trailer and a person wearing white with a hood hopped out of the truck and on to the crane. he lifted it into the trailer. the dealership own r is working with police to find the suv and of course they want to find the thief. well, police in texas say they made a $5 million discovery. officers found thousands of marijuana plants growing in a wooded area just 60 miles northeast of houston. where they were found at an irrigation pond about 20 feet deep and the length of a football field. authorities have no suspects in this case. the cardinals are on their way to the world series as are

the texas rangers but one family seems to be the good luck charm. they're no doubt big fans of the hometown team but what makes them a bit of an anomaly. kelly birthed a baby in 2004, 2006 and a couple of weeks ago she did it in 2011 and in all years the cardinals have played in the world series. as you can imagine that couple is constantly pressured to add to their little team. the cardinals take on the rangers tonight. first pitch set for 8:05. all right. doesn't guarantee victory though. just that they're going to be in it which is something the other controls could just pray for at this stage of the game. right? we've got to see if they can get to work on that. let's go back to the records although it's been a long time. side but this is what i want to focus on, these winds. and there's been discussion about these storm winds and they will increase midday and the afternoon. the strongest winds look like they're off the coast. we may get a roll in the afternoon just between storm systems. we may actually get stronger winds behind the storm. 10:43. 12:22 at fells point. a couple of hours in the midportion of the bay. that's the first time we have to look for and wave right along i-95 coming back into southern maryland and the wave of low pressure is actually further on down toward the south. a lot of moisture stretching along the coast. but it's still down in georgia and it's got to work its way up today and tonight. just allowing some thunderstorms

news around the world, torrential rain and flooding across central america has left more than 60 dead and authorities now warning the situation could worsen. more rain is predicted for that region and at least 9 people were buried after a landslide in el salvador. a number of bridges and schools have also sustained major
