second involved two cars, involving a police car and the third involved two cars. it involves two lanes in the inner loop to be shut down, causing major backups. own one person had to go to the hospital. >> what do you get for $2.5 billion. the intercounty connector, which is eight months old is showing cracks, cracks on bridges that will cross across georgia avenue. these are all in montgomery county. the big question tonight is will they have to rebuild? here's abc 2 news don harrison. >> the state has spent billions of dollars every year on road construction projects. one of the most expensive ones is the intercounty connector, opened in february in montgomery county. state inspectors have revealed cracks on the icc. the state highway administration says the contractor admits it was a

design flaw and has agreed to cover any expenses to pay for the repair. there could be some traffic tieups, some lanes will be closed for construction. to help pay for other road projects, the governor floated the idea of a new gas tax. the gas tax, alone with tolls collected go into the transportation fund to pay for the upkeep of roads like the intercounty connector. poor construction and other things by the state, some taxpayers are not overwhelmed by the idea of a new tax. >> i think it's mismanagement. it's a classic case of not knowing what you are doing. now, they have to go back and hit us with a tax when they should have planned accordingly. >> some ledges lay tors agree. >> how can you justify raising tacks for infrastructure when you are spending the money the current money that you spend there to pay for other things other than transportation. >> reporter: some legislators see the need for a tax. >> we don't have enough money

to build roads, renovate roads and build bridges for the needs of the growing population of the state of maryland and something is going to have to be done. >> long-term modifications should begin in the coming weeks and gas tax proposal is expected to be addressed in the regular session starting in january. in annapolis, i'm don harrison for abc "2 news." the latest from annapolis on the third day of the general assembly -- the bill that passes is almost identical except for some smaller roar which the senate needs to pass so the governor can sign off on it.

taking a look at district one first. this is the new map now. it used to stop in harper county. it took a slab out of baltimore county, now it drifts over into carol county that's district one. that's where andy harris is right now. now i want to take you to district six. it used to go all the way to cecil county line. it's backed all the way up through frederick that's the new plan for district six. i wanted to show you district seven, there is elijah comings district. it used to go up to randallstown. now, he is going to go into the zone district seven and district three, the congressman has plenty of frequent flyer miles. he will go from owensville all the way into columbia, to arundell county. there you go, that is our new

wove a web of lies so he could meet teen boys. they say he had sex with a 13 and 14-year-old and worried there may be other victims. he calls himself braiden clark. he said he was a sheltered home schooled kid that loved music, but that he was only 17, but he was a predator who used facebook and chat rooms to make contact with underage teen boys. he was discovered after one of the boys mother began to look closely at her son's internet use. >> one of the victims, 13 years old. his mother became suspicious he was becoming sexually involved with a man based on some e- mails he found. in the course of the investigation, we not only confirmed that the suspect was having sexual activity with that boy, we also confirmed a

had breast cancer. >> with no pamly history of breast cancer, the news was devastating. >> she said, consider a double ma secretary my, with your age. the fact that you can't see anything on the mammogram. mri saying everything is clear. i need you to think about it. at that point, it was time to fight. >> reporter: and fight she did. jaime came to the cancer institute at gb & c and even though she caught her cancer early. she made a major decision to have a double ma mass sec tomorrow my. >> thats with her choice. not every woman makes that choice, but for her, that was the right choice for her.

mast -- >> reporter: her doctor said her road to recovery was not easy. filled with multiple surgeries and chemo treatment. >> she had the initial surgery and received chemotherapy. we know with her type of cancer, chemotherapy can substantially lower the risk of the cancer spreading and occurring in other parts of the body. she went through a long course of chemotherapy. she was very strong to get through. >> reporter: the doctor and jaime have formed a strong patient/doctor bond. >> i would come in asking him a dozen questions, wanting to know why. he couldn't answer all of the whys and he wasn't trying to hurt me, he was really my

friend. >> dr. dongan followed jaime's cancer >> i'm cancer free. as far as we know. that's always a factor. i feel great, >> reporter: jaime's success is credited to early detection. dr. dongan said every woman, regardless of age, should pay close attention to their bodies. >> in 30-year-olds, it's quite uncommon. it can go unnoticed. that's why i think awareness is particularly important. even though it's much less common. >> my goal is to see dr. dongan retire, and to be around to watch my kids get married and have grandkids. >> >> now, there is a new -- a peaceful place for patients,

family members and friends. pink flowers will be in bloom most of the year, and a bed in the shape of a cancer ribbon that has water constantly floating over it. the garden will be dedicated tomorrow. >> >> looking at the statewide trend. we are going to find a little filling in here of the rainshowers, more widely- scattered in the southern part of the state, watch as it begins to connect and instead of widely-scattered showers, we get a longer band of rain pushing in baltimore northward with heavier downpours, moving up toward the frederick area. getting it pretty good toward cecil county. humidity around 100%. winds are east, northeast at 15.

bram barometer pretty low -- we get some wet weather going. nice fall color, rain heavy and steady at times, annapolis, ugly day, wet weather scenario. visibility dropping a little bit as showers continue to push through the area. temperatures have been on the mild side for rain in october. it can be that bitter biting rain. temperatures relatively decent, upper 60s, but there is rain cooling, there is that east breeze coming off the bay and the atlantic. bottom line, it makes for an even uglier commute, breezy, rain and no real big changes here for the next few hours, but by tomorrow. especially by this time tomorrow. there will be some significant changes, main storm center down here over central kentucky, southern indiana and ohio, rain wrapping around this thing and warmer air off shore, trying to nudge into the peninsula,

tonight and with that boundary, could spark a couple of thundershowers, even, main storm to the west and there is mostly cool air in place over the state, right now, our future trend basically shows hit and miss showers, maybe a thundershower overnight, but by 5:00 in the morning. this can be done. it could be wet roads, but no really new rain. a dry scenario we take through much of our thursday, clouds roll in friday, partly cloudy day and a better day, thursday, it will be windy around here. overnight, two degree guarantee for tomorrow, 65, a mix of sun and clouds, winds gusty at times, 20-30 and tomorrow night, still breezy, but not quite as windies temperatures drop into the 40s. seven-day forecast you could see the cooler trend hanging out friday as we struggle to get out of the 50s, back into the 60s this week. plenty of sunshine and right now, sunday morning for our

jack tried to experience theater before, often with negative results. but it changed this show changed their lives. >> it was magic. he was coming out of his seat and it was okay. he was screaming and clapping and that was okay. and all of the bubbles came over here him and i realized this was the best show for children with disabilities than i have ever seen. >> reporter: to these kids, they are captivated. >> it truly means the world, it exposes him to just other things beyond his little routine at home beyond his therapies -- >> it's the way we all want all our kids to play music an art, we have done a number of these types of performances in the past we have a commitment to helping families impacted by autism and this is one more example >> i think they can remember
