with the latest. >> reporter: well, harford county sheriff office are investigating the attempted abduction of the 14-year-old boy. police say the teen was approached by a stranger driving a dark van with tinted windows while walking to the bus stop around 6:30 yesterday morning. according to police, suspect told the boy to get into the van. boy ran home in his -- and his mother called police. investigators interviewed neighbors who report spotting a suspicious dark van. police searched the area but were not able to clough kate -- locate the suspect. this morning police are trying to put a description of the van together. many neighbors in the area say it's normally safe so this latest accident has -- incident has them worried. >> absolutely. having my daughter and one on the way and we have always been pretty content here and felt very safe and that's just sort of uproots things. >> reporter: the sheriff's office is urging residents to be on lookout getting a

and sherrie johnson has some parents remarks and reaction for you with a live report this morning. hey,. >> reporter: good morning. we are here at city hall where there's talk of closing recreation centers and all new this morning, we have learned that a church group plans to demonstrate at the r-ec and park headquarters tomorrow. basically, they are concerned about mayor stephanie rawlings- blake plan to end privatation and that could close some rment ec centers and some -- rec centers and some parents and community leaders are not happy about it. the kids come after school to find a safe place to play and stay off the streets a plan proposed by rawlings-blake would shift fund requesting and operation of the 55rec senters to private companies or charities. call for bids on running them brought 6 viable entries and the mayor says it's part of a effort to revitalize the rec center system. parents and kids say without

challenge in st. margaret school says it is aimed at stopping bullying. the program is aimed after -- named after the first person killed at columbine in the massacre in 1999 and encourages kind and compassionate behavior and involves the entire school community. rapel scott was known as -- rachel sod was known as a good -- scott was known as doing good deeds and hope to continue the legacy. now a hpv vaccine isrecommended for girls to help prevent cervical cancer but it could go a long way for preventing throat cancer and that's why vaccines may be required for every child both boys and girls in the country. corinne redman is standing by with more on the latest findings. >> reporter: well, hpv virus is common. about 80% of women will have it at some point but most of the time it's harmless but in some cases it can cause cervical cancer and something unexpected throat cancer. phil seen in the video says one day he was shaving and noticed a lump on his neck and it was

stage 4 throat cancer. his case is one of more than 8,000 hpv positive head and neck cancers diagnosed just this year. health experts think men are getting it from women spreading it through oral sex or other forms of close contact. vieth vaccine against hpv is effective and controversial. despite recommendations less than 50% of girls have gotten it. abc's dr. richard besser talked to an expert about the new findings. >> a big opportunity for prevention here. >> the vaccines are very important. they are as important as polio and rubella and mumps and the other vaccines young kids receive. >> reporter: now the centers for disease control is expected to weigh in on the topic asking if it should be recommended for boys. corinne redman, abc2 news. new developments in the case against george hugeley accused of killing yardley love. his lawyers want access to love's medical records.

go trick or treating. but the buckets may not be filling up that much because candy prices are gone up and some families say they won't hand out as much in past years. treats are piled high. shoppers have noticed the prices have gone up. at the target in towson the candy is is on sale but some say it cost more than last year. we went to the giant where shoppers are noticing the higher pricesp we did the manage and it will save you money to buy in bulk the smaller bags cost more in the long run. candy price ropes because a peanut shortage is driving up the price of peanut butter and candy. national consumers league says it comes down to the federal government subi did to help some sugar brothers. >> i -- growers. >> i think it's high. this is a cheaper bag we saw. everything else was more expensive. >> reporter: peanut prices are up and it will affect how much you are paying for candy. we are hearing that farmers are expected to produce the
