beach neighborhood in pasadena were upset after learning that candy was being handed out at the home of a registered sex offender. the home did nothing illegal. students at towson emergency were sent emergency text messages this afternoon saying a man with a gun was on campus. it turned out the man was a student with a toy gun. he was an acting student who was walking across campus. weather wise, things are pretty nice and clear. just a few clouds in the sky as we check out the entire state from the beach to the mountains, few clouds passing by. we're set for a nice clear evening. looks like a nice evening to take a scrg or fire up the-- jog or fire up the grill. 55 in hagerstown.

the rest of this evening through the 50s we g mostly clear, pleasant conditions will be the story. the question, of course, will this hold up all weekend, even into the weekend. we talk about that in a few minutes. >> thanks a lot, wyatt. >> a pregnant woman in hawaii is back home with her family tonight but she and her husband are trying to figure out how they got arrested on a routine trip to the grocery store. let's check in with jamie costello. >> reporter: the family walked into this grocery store in their honolulu neighborhood but nicole who was 30 weeks pregnant felt faint and picked up a sandwich and started eating it. they checked out and forgot about the sandwich. as they were leaving a security guard asked for a rereceipt and pointed -- receipt that she

hadn't paid. he is said she offered to pay with cash but the store manager called limits she and her husband were in handcuffs and the child was taken into custody by child protective service. >> when they said they with take her because we would be arrested, i couldn't believe this because i had forgotten to pay for the sandwich and she has never been away from us for that long. >> reporter: 18. they were released on bai. nicole ended up posting about it on a website. safeway released two statements first saying they are aware of the incident and are reviewing it. a second statement said it appears we may not have handled it in the best possible way. the family will fight the

shoplifting charge. a woman in new york city is in the hospital after being crushed by a falling shopping cart. someone pushed the card and is now -- cart and is now in yesterday. yesterday herman cain was on the hot seat. today it's rick perry. we'll tell you what he said that's bringing unwanted attention.

a 47-year-old woman is in critical condition at a hospital in new york city have the two boys dropped a shopping cart on her from four floors up. the woman was at the store buying candy for a local community center. the two 12-year-old boys who were caught on video were arrested and charged with assault. some scary moments for the crew and passengers on a flight that had to mick an emergency landing in warsaw, poland, the landing gear failed, so they had to bring it down without any, causing sparks to fly. crews doused the plane with water. no injuries were reported. a woman and her baby were

lucky when her car got stuck on railroad tracks in missouri. the officer's dashboard cam caught the whole thing and got the mom and baby just seconds. the woman ended up failing a sobriety test and was arrested. the baby is now staying with a family member. we've been telling you to let us know when you need help, a neighborhood plagued by potholes. and you know your credit rating is going to get dinged if you're late on payments but what about parking tickets? we'll tell you what some cities are doing.

several banks are back off of plans to charge fees for using debit cards. some charged as much as $5 a month. it mae get people to -- may get people to start thinking local. >> reporter: nationwide credit unions have seen a spike as old big bank customers are getting disgusted after being charged to use their own cash. some of the tallest and most impressive buildings are banks. this building said they've got money, money to buy homes and businesses, for that shiny sports car and name stadiums, but he likes the bank not because they have money but

because, well, they're nice. >> customer service. they're nice. fax your paperwork if you need it done. the service is good. friendly people. they know you. >> reporter: customer service can go a long way to make customers say with any business. they may have heard that after bank of america backed off of debit card fees. sun trust out of atlanta is refunding some of its fees. the disgust with big banks and big fees are making people look local. >> last year alone our credit unions in maryland and the district of columbia saved maryland and d.c. families more than $200 million. that was because of low fees, no fees and really competitive rates on the loan products. >> reporter: this of it as a

you with our series click to fix. a viewer contacted abc2 news charry crowson about a problem right in front offer that home. >> reporter: we were first contacted by debbie free man in dundalk. word is the road would wash out following a strong rain, creating sinkholes. this are pics taken after the october 19th storm. you condition seat gashes -- see the gashes and gaping holes. it leaves no signs of problems until a second lock reveals roadwork patches are everywhere. >> driving is a nightmare. >> reporter: debbie freeman has lived there for years and can't remember when it wasn't a problem. >> we have elderly people here, children here. it's a nice quiet neighborhood
