minutes. charley? >> a three-day event. getting ready for a discussion. over the gulf oil disaster, all as a result of bp. this is a live look this morning at the national aquarium. it is going to be a hot spot. leaders of politics, and in the environment, all going to be here, talking about what can be done to prevent a disaster like that from happening again. and cbs 2 linda stowe is live in the studio with more on this. because this is going to be a big event. a lot of people with a lot to say, i'm sure. >> it is going to happen over the next three days. it starts tonight at 6:30, and leaders from across the spectrum. government leaders coming, and environmental leaders coming, and they've all collected data over the last year since that still happened because it was just devastating for that gulf region. what they will be doing is they will be talking about that research, to make sure that this isn't forgotten that people know that there are still long term effects coming from this bill, that still as you know, spewed devastating amounts of crude oil into the gulf, damaging the life in and around that area, and

here is a conference, that we will be talking about the latest research, and how to move forward to restore the gulf and surrounding communities. >> the smallest animals are affected. those effects kind of multiply through the food chain. and eventually, we are at the end of the food chain. so we, as humans, need to be worried about this as well. >> and in washington, d.c. today, there will actually be a second house hearing on this oil spill. yesterday, top oil executives came under fire for not showing up. they've been asked to show up today for the second hearing. it is unlikely that will happen. live in the studio, linda stowe, abc 2 news. if you're catholic, you can expect big changes coming in a few weeks. the mass itself is not changing but for the first time since 1965 the translation of words in the mass are. there are several dozen changes in all. striking some catholics as a move to a more conservative mass, but archbishop o'brien says the changes bring the catholic mass closer to its

and ate the sandwich. she intended to pay for it but forget when they checked out. when the family was leaving, they were approached by supreme court and the couple was arrested and the 2-year-old daughter was taken into custody and remained there for 18 hours. dramatic dash cam camera out of missouri. a woman and one-month-old baby stuck in a car on a railroad tracks and an off-duty police officer in new haven missouri helped to pull them out. the woman failed a sobriety test and the child was turned over to a family member. firefighters in california are battling a blaze outside san francisco. this is in napa valley, the wine country and heavy and high winds blowing winds and becoming faster, and two dozen homes are being threatened and it is not known what sparked the fire but images from the west coast and napa valley and fire crews working on the scene right now. unstable world marks could affect wall street and we're keeping an eye on the results

tuesday was a disaster. on global market day. here on wall street. the dow fell more than 300 points. and that is why we're watching the world marks this morning. they started off well. but as we will show you now, they have dropped off since closing. these are the asian markets, including the japanese nikeii and the hang seng, finished up 363 points and the nikeii

dropped 195. and activity where n-europe, this is -- where in europe, activity is going on and plummeting numbers. here is why. a ripple effect that could affect us for weeks to come. greece's government says a marathon cabinet meeting is going to end in about two hours, with ministers expressing unanimous support for that country's prime minister to call a referendum on a hard-won european plan to rescue the greek economy. a no vote on that referendum could bring a debt default in athens that would bring bank failures across europe and then across into the u.s. this is a live look this morning, into grease. where all eyes are on watching what will happen, with the meeting, as it has ripple effects. think about a known throwing in the water. what will affect in greece will spread out to the european markets up to germany and then over here to the u.s. that's are why we're watching this for you you this morning. this could have a lot to say what happens in our market and of course how it could affect you down the road. this is in greece right now.

off the windshield. annapolis this morning, naval academy at 42 degrees. and away from the water now, and you can see by the school here, 36 degrees. and 33 in millersville. 32 rockville. and we've got 30s to hair ford and bel air at 32. a little bit of an anomaly in towson, upper 20s to mid-30s. a little bit of frost. clear skies across the board. looking at temperatures that should rebound nicely. still have to wait until 7:00 36 until the sun pops up and then look at a warmup to 53 by lunchtime. and 60 back to normal for the two degree guaranteed high. are traffic update with tonya. >> 95 south at o'donnell, an accident blocking two lanes and a look at the beltway through catonsville, moving, some volume on the outer loop to the left of the screen. you can see that volume from 795 mostly to baltimore national pike. and topside of the beltway at harford road, we have a slowdown here as well.

cut down on the lag time between when the ticket is issued and when it is paid. some people are against the idea but brianna is not, she is sick of the tractor trailers and dump trucks that park and don't move in her elk ridge neighborhood. >> i think it is dangerous because there are kids walking up and down the streets and stores around the corner and i walk up the door and people are darting out beneath the truck and you can't see them. >> if you want to write an e-mail to voice your opinion to the county council, find that address on our web site at abc 2 news .com. you have to get it in by next monday. linda stowe, abc 2 news. and unpaid tickets for parking and speeding, they're being sent to collections. that could end up hitting your credit score. the move comes after what has been a tough year financially for most cities who need the parking fees now more than ever. new this morning, citi bank, bank of america and j.p. morgan chase an wells fargo among others have been ordered by the government to review foreclosures in 2009 and 2010 and lenders are accused of

moving to swiftly on the homes. closing arguments are expected this morning in the bribery trial of the state senator, charged of using his chairman position to benefit the shopper's food warehouse chain. and in montgomery county prosecutors are expected to rest their case in the trial of a woman accused of killing a co-worker at an upscale yoga shop in bethesda. norwood is accused of bludgeoning the woman in bethesda in march. an the jury will continue to have deliberations in a murder for hire case. last week the jury found walter bishop jr. guilty of shooting and killing william porter. at a baltimore county hes station. jurors will decide if bishop will receive the death penalty. it is a maryland case that resembles the highly publicized and debated terri schiavo case. in frederick, judges will decide if a man who has to do brain damage after a heart attack should stay on life support and his mother wants to continue to get sustenance through a feeding

tube but his wife doesn't. 55-year-old daniel senger lost most of his speech and other abilities after a heart attack in july. thomas scalia recently returned from afghanistan and will share his experiences from the journey which include operating om some wounded troops and speak about lessons learned while overseas. 6:48 this morning. a program created to reduce the number of african-american boys in the juvenile justice system is expanding to girls and the program collaborates with the teens and their families encouraging the teens to address the underlying issues that are anti-social and deviant behavior. math scores are on the rise but only by a little bit. and 4th and 8th grade students tested in math last spring scored one point higher on the national assessment test. the secretary of education says they're celebrating. not fast enough. but they do commend it for making modest progress.

6:48. one library in ann arundel county is now going high-tech. they're putting 200e-readers into circulation. that's the largest collection in the state. abc 2cherie johnson joins us live via skype to tell us more about this. >> well, we are at the annapolis area library and i'm actually joined by michelle miller, the branch miller of the east port annapolis neck library. thank you very much for joining us. what an exciting time this is today. and 200 brand new e readers going out to 15 of your locations, and tell me a little bit of the demand from the patrons. >> thanks for coming down to annapolis. we're pretty excited and everybody here is excited and curious about the new technology. >> tell mow -- tell me why it is important to violent d-shall to provide the e-readers. >> another step to have access to technology, whether or not you can afford it and as long as

again, $245 million. that will probably climb higher. >> good stuff right there. and good luck, by the way for those of you buying tickets and waiting in line. checking out the live view and the last gray shade out here, and a little glitch in the system. the infrared satellite clear skies under the high pressure and old storm pushing off the coast and that blizzard raging near denver this morning, and nowhere near us, with the clouds far east of chicago and in detroit this morning and high pressure will be a warmup and we will have very little influence in that system but a little piece will actually slide to our south and watch that little kink in the wind flow, as we head through friday and that's a sign of our storm system, and our computer model actually highlighting some of that energy riding its way toward our south. so it will increase the clouds tomorrow and get a chance of some rain, and most of the energy across the carolinas, friday morning and a few showers possible and we will actually take our temperatures back a little bit for the weekend. it is november. we can expect to actually have an 11-degree drop from an average of 62 on the first, to

an amp of 51 by the end -- average of 51 by the end of the month. and scaling things backwards. but the upward swing, 60 degrees with a ton of sun and a jacket and time to warm up the car and scrape off the frost. as we head through tonight, a clear sky allows us to dip back down to 37 and could do it once again. this is the time of the year where you could stay much milder by the water, in the 40s. and much chillier inland, upper 20s, to lower 30s. widespread to be expected. but the afternoons even out with sunshine and 62 tomorrow. and expect late day clouds to arrive, and holding tomorrow night's temperature in the 40s. again, slight chance of showers on friday. when you see those raindrops, don't think washout. because that will not be the case. and it could be some showers in our offering for the end of the week. the weekend itself, we will dry out and chill ler, and saturday's high temperature about 53 and lows in the 30s and pushing to 57 on sunday and temperatures back up into the lower 60s as we head in through monday and tuesday. 6:55 on the clock. one more check of traffic with
