good morning, everybody. i'm rob nelson. >> and i'm sunny hostin. major developments overnight in the booming sex scandas rocked penn state university. two top officials are stepping down tonight. >> the cam pause is in part of state college known as happy valley. this morning, it's anything but. here's abc's tahman bradley. >> reporter: a penn state grid irn legend faces 40 counts of mollessation. he's accused of molesting eight boys that were part of a foundation he created back in 1977. he declined comment. >> unfortunately, i'm not in a position i can make any statements. >> reporter: prosecutors say he used his position as a hero to the penn state community to prey

on young boys over a 15-year period. >> i'm blown away. completely. >> reporter: penn state's athletic director, tim curley and mr. schultz stepped down. >> this these allegations are true, it goes to the top of the athletic department of penn state. one would think there would have to be some kind of house cleaning. >> reporter: the board of trustees held an emergency meeting yesterday. joe paterno was told back in 2002 that sandusky was caught having sex with a 10-year-old boy in a penn state shower. he told administratored who reportedly failed to ask. joe paterno said he was shocked,

well, there was a run of banks this weekend in protests. thousands of people flooded into credit unions and local banks to open new accounts as part of bank transfer day. they were protesting fees. that decision by bank of america to charge to use your debit card has been reversed. european finance ministers will meet again today. one issue is the timing of the next payment. also, italy's financial problems will be high on the agenda. overseas markets are stalled with uncertainty. tokyo's nikkei average fell 34 points today.

hong kong's hang seng is off 108. the ftse opened lower. on wall street, the dow lost 248 points. at theaters, a cat pounced on the competition.
