we'll tell you what's in store for michael jackson's former physician dr. conrad murray. and a huge fire is ruled accidental. we begin with three breaking news stories. police are investigating a shooting involving their own in the 400 -- 7400 block of hi tech drive. happening right now, 1200 people living in the locus point area have to go without natural gays. bge is working to repair a gas main break. roosevelt leftwich is live on the scene. >> reporter: there's a pretty

big hole. the contractor was working on the bridge project, struck the main and was sending gas up into the air. you can see bge crews working on it. they're trying to dig out the main, and repair the pipe. folks say the smell of gas was so strong that you could see it coming out of the ground. they're trying to cut out the broken piece of pie. part of it they had to shut off gas to 1200 homes in the area. we talked to a couple of homeowners. many said their house still smelled of gas. for many of the folks a lot say they have gas heat. so it's going to be a chilly

night for them as they trito get through this. they're working to repair the main. 1200 people are affected. they're trying to figure out a way to stay warm. we'll have more at the bottom of the hour, roosevelt leftwich, abc2 news. within the past hour we've learned that dr. conrad murray was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter. the jury deliberated for less than nine hours. there was a shriek in the courtroom and the crowd erupted outside. prosecutors painted him as inproperty doctor. now the latest to the news that has rocked happy valley.

bail has been set in harrisburg for two high ranking penn officials. both resigned to face charges they lied to a grand jury, their failure to report child sexual abuse allegations by a former football coach, jerry sandusky. >> reporter: with all that has been going on with sandusky, the report is sandusky was working out in the team's weight room last week. he was waiting for coach diswroa paterno to retire and he would take over. >> my attorney has advised me that the situation is in the courts and i'm not to make any comments. >> reporter: over the weekend jerry sandusky wouldn't talk about charges he sexually abused eight boys over 15 years.

athletic director tim curley and gary schultz. >> it likely allowed a child predator to continue to victimize children for many, many years. >> reporter: they're asking people who might have been victims to come forward. 2002, three years after sandusky retired a graduate assistant said he saw sandusky having sex with a boy has young as 10 in the team's shower. sandusky had access once he left. he start pad charity to help at risk kids. the graduate told coach a tern they and a turn know passed it on. sandusky's lawyer said his client is innocent. joe paterno released a statement

saying he did what he was supposed to do. paterno, who has been leading the program for 46 years is not the thargt of this investigation. jamie costello. troubling report out about teens and sexual harassment. nearly half of students in the 7th through 12th grade experienced harassment last year. some students were sexually harassed while in school, some online, and facebook. 87% of those as ad said he -- harassed said they did not want it go to school. a frostburg state university charged with killing another said she is not to blai. shanee liggins said another guest at her house party stabbed 19-year-old kortneigh mccoy to

death. the fight started when a mail guest wouldn't let her reach something under the kitchen sink. liggins said three men started punching her and had -- one had a kitchen knife. mccoy was stabbed by one of the men. she is charged with first-degree murder. mccoy was a graduate of polyhigh school. the woman charged along with her boyfriend for killing a johns hopkins researcher was sentenced to 30 years in jail. 15 of the years have been suspended for conspiracy to commit robbery and murder. tonight that huge fire at a condominium in perry hall has been ruled accidental. it started in an apartment at 9711 haven farm court. investigators say the fire

started in the ceiling above one of the third floor condos. it quickly spread and took crews over an hour to put out the flames. no one was hurt. tonight firefighters plan to do a walk through to talk about fire safety. tonight investigators know what caused the fire over the weekend at a baltimore county restaurant. we're learning the fire at didi's pizza was accidental. no one was hurt. damage is estimated at $700,000. weather wise, you talk about some crystal clear fall weather, that's exactly what we've got, sunshine on tap. i mean tough to find a cloud in the sky. looks like things will not change a lot over the next couple of days. temperature wise, 61 at the inner harbor. we've got 63 out in frederick

right now. this evening we'll fall into the upper 50s and eventually the low 50s. that early sunset now that we've fallen back. tomorrow voters in baltimore will head to the polls to vote in the mayoral election. mayor stephanie rawlings-blake is favored to win the general election. only about 22% of eligible voters cast votes in september's primary. they will also vote for city council members and council president. who evercomes out on track will have to deal with organizers of the baltimore grand prix. the city is not happy with the way organizers have handled the payments. they owe the city her than -- more than $1.5 million.

the organizers are already facing lawsuits from vendors and investors. with all of us getting ready to pay nearly 60 cents more for gas, increasing the gas tax could be a tough sell for the general assembly. he who take the extra money from the tax and use it for road and construction projects. the governor said it would, in turn, create more jobs, but many drivers aren't thrilled with it. >> everything's going up. they're raising taxes on this, raising taxes on that. i'm against it. >> i'm against it unless there's a guarantee they who use it for infrastructure. >> over the last two years, the legislator has raided the fund to pay for other projects and that is a tough pill for a lot of folks to swallow. last night, certainly a good

we'll show you a little bit of the weather across our hd, abc2 weather bug cameras, baltimore. ellicott city showing abundant sunshine and decent fall foilage. the early sunset gets getting used to. take a look, maryland's most powerful radar, all sweeps show clear. our temperatures slightly cooler, del mar varks -- delmarva. 61 in hagerstown. our high temperatures slightly above average for this part of the year. 63 at the inner harbor. 66 in frederick. i think we'll add a couple degrees to that. 67 in d.c. today could be 70 tomorrow. we could see upper 60s in baltimore by tomorrow. winds light and variable. that's the scenario out there.

no real weather in the mid-atlantic region, just a big area of high pressure sitting on top of the east coast. that will keep things clear. there's weather developing out to the west. there are big storms across oklahoma. to the north and west some showers breaking out as close as indiana and northwestern ohio. the showers not making a significant move east. we've got that big high pressure cell. that will keep most of the weather out to the west. we're seeing the warmer numbers south of us well into the 70s. the trend, not a lot of change here. as we take a look, you can see clearer conditions will be the story into the overnight and the day tomorrow. yes, that boundary will make a move but likely not to impact us friday into saturday. interestingly enough picking up a coastal storm developing off

ordinary classroom, but this is a place for people to learn. the group performs excerptings of famous african-americans in history like barack obama, martin luther king, harriet tub man, frederic douglas, just to name a few. >> it gives them hope. >> reporter: today the group performed for senior citizens. the group loved it. >> they need something positive. it's a positive thing for them and i love it. >> reporter: karen's fun house is an inspiration hall fun house. the goal is to give them confidence and encouragement to let them know they can become anything they want to be. >> i love it. i've met new people, learned new things and it has helped me.

i used to be a very fast talker. she helped me slow down and hear what i say. >> after school, it gives me something to do and i learned a lot. i learned about james brown. he was the god father. >> reporter: some of the children in the program come from a troubled family life. they're dealing with substance abuse at home. karen wants them to know things will get better. >> we want them to know i am somebody. i can make a change and that i can be somebody, and no matter what your environment is, what's going on, it's going to get better. >> reporter: educators say this program is a success academically. students improve on reading and social studies and many are on the honor roll.

a ground break study on dads with mental illness. they studied 22,000 cher ages five to 17 and their parents. the risk of emotional problems in children were 353% great are

if the mother had mental problems. depression and other mental health issues in the dads were independently connected. the author suggests that successful treatment in fathers could help reduce mental health problems in their children. november is diabetes awareness month. more people are being diagnosed each day. the rate is rising along with the number of obese people. type two diabetes can usually be prevented by making some very simple life-style changes. experts recommend eating mostly vegetables and whole grains. foods that are high in fiber help control blood sugar levels. we'll be right back after this break.
