>> take a look. this was the scene in portland, oregon. police on horse back cleared pl protesters from their camps. >> paul beeman is joining us with the latest. >> in city after city, officials seem to be rung out of patience. they say the camps are unsafe and unsanitary. it's time for the protesters to leave. in okakland, california, the tension is rising. they're warning protesters to move out or else. >> a lot of people felt like it was time to go. >> reporter: there have been violent confrontations and a deadly shooting in oakland. officials elsewhere want to avoid that. >> this isn't game. it's real life. people's lives and safety are at stake here on all sides. [ chanting ]

>> reporter: in portland, lis in riot gear emptied the parks. and after a woman was sexually assaulted in philadelphia, the mayor called it intolerable. >> occupy philly has changed. we're seeing serious health and safety issues playing out on almost a daily basis. the people of occupy philly have also changed. and their intentions have changed. >> reporter: in san francisco, one police officer was slashd with a knife when protesters attacks during a mark. things were largely quiet overnight. after a weekend of tense confrontations, the mood is very different this morning. >> paul beban with the latest. thank you. new details now in the penn state sex scandal. authorities are preparing for more victims to come forward. the president has called the case heart breaking.

linsey davis has the latest. >> reporter: the pennsylvania governor had harsh word for law enforcement. >> we would have expected law enforcement to be involved much sooner. >> reporter: he said he wouldn't be surprised if more victims come forward. what kind of liability would a penn state face? >> a lot of limt. because they knew that they had a predator on their campus. and they did nothing stop it. >> reporter: predators thrive on silence. if the child sex abuse allegations against jerry sandusky prove true, it appears dozens of people knew and kept quiet. among them, the university police, state department of public welfare, the district attorney and the second mile, sandusky's charity. pennsylvania law doesn't require all people to report.

>> pennsylvania law retires people that learn through the course of their employment that a child is being abused, that that person go his or her supervisor all the way to the head of the organization. >> reporter: all the finger pointing and even football took a back seat on saturday to prayer for the victims. >> may justice be known. to protect the victims. >> reporter: an emotional day all around. >> dad, i wish you were here. we love you. >> reporter: that same spirit of healing continued on campus. >> a lot of pain and hurt came up. people are hurting. >> reporter: at least one victim is considering firing a civil suit against anyone that failed to report the abuse. police have set up a tip line for additional victims to come forward. linsey davis, abc news, state college, pennsylvania. >> and much more on this story coming up. we'll talk to penn state's new president a little bit later on "good morning america." president obama is promising

mario to the rescue in italy. the former commissioner, mario monti is trying to form a new government. italy and the rest of europe hope the yale-educated economist can pull the rest of the country back from the brink of financial ruin. the overseas market are optimistic. hong kong's hang seng picked up 371 points. if london, the ftse opened higher. the dow gained 170 points last week. the nasdaq in the negative, losing seven points. bank customers may have won on debit card fees. but banks are still getting their money. the new quietly imposed charges are for replacing a lost debit card, depositing money with a mobile phone, or receiving a wire transaction. and retailers may also be hitting you with stealth fees.
