well, you probably started planning your holiday list. if you've got kids, you will need plenty of batteries. so which brand will keep them running. how are our monkeys doing? >> we want to know -- you have to know which batteries will last the longest. we're doing an experiment with these toy monkeys. we set up five of them, testing five brands of aa batteries. this is one little experiment. we started at 2:40. just an hour and seven minutes in and he died. he didn't make it. this is one test. we put these monkeys through three weeks of testing involving batteries. we are trying a bunch of things.

it's the annual fund-raiser for the festival of trees. some local students are making a difference decorating a tree. >> reporter: students are in the holiday spirit. this' busy decorating a -- they're busy decorating a seven foot tree. it will be at the kennedy krieger institute, festival of trees. >> since we're emphasizing reading, we wanted a theme dr. seuss, read, baby read. >> reporter: this is the second year for the students

participating. this year they're doing something different. they decided to start a penny war as part of a service learning project. it raised about $476 for kennedy krieger institute. >> some kids didn't have any money. some of them had to go get the supplies they need with the pennies. >> it makes me feel happy because i'm helping other people that need help and that need all the stuff that we have but they don't. >> reporter: they prepare low income students for college. it serves students in the park heights community and kindergarten through second grade. educators focus on character skills and academics. kennedy krieger couldn't be more happy for the help. >> the idea that the kids at age

low beams. give yourself extra tim and distance -- time and distance. we'll see rain on and off. perhaps we get surges of steadier rain, one of which will come tomorrow and the last could come wednesday morning. from wednesday afternoon into thanksgiving and black friday it looks awesome. in the meantime unsettled weather. there's that stalled out front. it's generating the showers, the clouds, the reduced visibility. there's mild dryer weather. we will not see that until late in the week. as we take a look at the trend timing wise, very critical. still scattered showers tonight. maybe a brief break in the morning and another round of rain tomorrow afternoon. it could get heavier and steadier, especially baltimore northward. we'll get a brief break and then that last main line of rain, the last front coming through. this looks like wednesday morning early in the day, so an
