children. former fbi director lewis freeh will head a independent internal investigation into the allegation aagainst injury sandusky. -- injury san dusk -- jerry sandusky. law makers are working here in maryland to make sure children stay safe in the wake of the scandal at penn state. they are making sure something like that doesn't happen here. corinne redman is standing by with what was discussed and moreover what is going to be discussed today. it's not that maryland's laws are bad but they want to make sure they might need to be better. >> reporter: and they want people to come forward which is one of the big reasons with the penn state scandal. there were lots of talk about the well defined system here in baltimore that's in place to report abuse, but experts say it can only work if people who say something -- see something say something. the town hall meeting was madeup of experts prosecutors, police, educators and social workers. they agreed a problem of child section abuse is bigger than just -- sex abuse is bigger than one university. in baltimore city alone more

this morning, linda so is here with what we can expect next and linda, the president returned from the international travel and is going to new hampshire. what he happening on capitol hill. >> reporter: well, it means there are going to be a lot of cuts. coming in 2013 and it means cuts to medicare, medicaid, and the pentagon budget. the super committee has the task of finding 1.2 trillion dollars in spending cuts. but republicans and democrats disagreed over taxes and couldn't reach a deal. wall street reacted to the news the super committee's failure. the markets closed down sharply. president obama says republicans were the main stumbling block. >> good afternoon. still too many republicans in congress who have refused to listen to the voices of reason on compromise. >> reporter: now congress still has lot of work to get done before the new year, but president obama does say there's still time. he says he is asking congress members to come to an agreement before those automatic cuts take place in 2013.

las vegas and was extradited maryland where he is being held -- where he was being held without bond. according to police, a clerical aira mistake led to scott being freed on 75,000 dollars bond. now police say he put up the crash and was released from custody and there's an all out nationwide search to fine the accused killer and get him back behind bars. >> this individual has the capacity to flee the area and when the actual murder had occurred. he had fled and was located a few months later in las vegas. >> reporter: now the court issued a bench warrant for scott on friday. after that mistake was noticed. corinne redman, abc2 news. news happening right now. we got new information about three americans who have been arrested in egypt all in the protests continuing going on. we reported this 20 minutes ago and this is new video. the u.s. state department says police arrested them after catching them throwing molotov cocktails during protest in

at the maryland house in harford county along interstate 95. not too bad right now. but today could be one of the busiest travel days. a lot of people will hit the roads today to beat the thanksgiving holiday congestion. and this morning, i have regina with aaa mid atlantic joining me live. thanks for being here. >> you are welcome, thanks for having me. >> reporter: first, let's talk about the numbers. a lot of folks expected to hit the roads today. >> absolutely. nationally, we are looking at 38.2 million americans will be driving to their holiday destinations over the thanksgiving holiday period. here in maryland, it's nearly 800,000 that will be driving and those numbers are up compared to other holidays that we have look at this year. in fact, 4% nationally and 3.5% here in maryland. >> reporter: and it's not just the roads. what about the other forms of transportation? >> well, actually despite the fact we are seeing significant increase in airfares there are about 20% higher than they were this time last year. despite that, the numbers of people traveling by air are up
