we were able to identify him as our suspect. i can't describe it as anything less than animalistic. we'll make sure we bring the most time applicable under the law. >> reporter: police say dna evidence at the scene was checked on the dna registry. wright had been arrested on a drug charge and the dna he gave then matched the girl's attacker. >> because of the nature of the incident, a 13-year-old victim taken off the street and assaulted in the most violent and personal manner, this case was prioritized, put to the front of the queue and a very lengthy scientific process was done. >> reporter: wright is facing rape, sexual assault charges and kidnapping. people in the area said it

impersonations. they involve a group of men driving a dhark colored suv. they come up on people and rob them. it's been happening in the butcher him and so far, appear hispanics are the target. >> this is troubling. this is an individual posing as police officer, preying on the public and victims are utterly vulnerable. >> police are encouraging people with information to call 911 right away. montgomery county police one person is responsible for three kidnappings and robberies of senior citizens in the last five days. they took place at the westfield wheaton shopping center. a 77-year-old man was threatened with a box cutter, then ordered in his own car, driven to atm's where he was forced to withdraw cash. he was also beaten and cut.

police released this short surveillance vote of the suspect walking towards the camera. on saturday the same thing happened to a 60-year-old man and wednesday a 75-year-old man. police in anne arundel county are investigating a robbery. a 21-year-old woman from bowie with an infant in her black seat pulled over on blackberry. a man walked to her passenger door to see if the woman was okay. the man demand money. they took off and police searched the area but could not find them. if you have information call the student charged with first-degree murder of another students a retained her own lawyer. she signed on to two lawyers. they were charged with murder and attempted murder of a

basketball player. liggens was using a public defender. she is accused of killing kou -- kourtney mccoy. there are reports that the gaithersberg man held in the murder of a woman tbh aruba may be getting -- may in aruba may be getting out of jail. investigators believe that giordano was involved in the murder of robyn gardner. prosecutors are appealing the decision. a judge is reviewing documents in the case of the aide for former governor bob ehrlich for using robocalls. now according to some reports, the judge told the court the home received one of the calls

more than month ago he had pancreatic cancer. today he announced his last day on the area. >> ron smith told his listeners he was retiring, something he never imagined doing. he was diagnosed more than a month ago. when he found out, he started an aggressive treatment of chemotherapy but he decided it wasn't worth trying another round. today he said good-bye. >> well, the decision has been made, by me, to stop appearing on the radio shows.

i'm retiring. i basically can no longer do it. i'm getting weaker every day and it's time to pull the plug. >> smith, 69, said he hoped he could stay on the radio a few days a week but couldn't do it anymore. he's already in hospice care. kelly swoope, abc2 news. today seems to be a very enthusiastic one for those of you shopping online or on your smartphones. online sales on this cyber monday were up early by some 20% from a year ago. at department stores online stores are up 20%. sales from mobile devices alone are also up nearly 9%. cyber monday started in 2005 and last year saw sales hit the

with the sunshine, with the winds, definitely bumped those temperatures up. maryland's most powerful radar is dry. we should stay that way as we go through the rest of the overnight. we had a good stretch of days, so we can't complain. temperatures elsewhere into easton at 63 degrees, temperatures in the upper 50s. hagerstown at 63. patuxent river in the low 60s. ocean city around 59 degrees. the winds will be a big story into the evening, tomorrow and early wednesday. check out oakland coming in around 17-mile-an-hour winds. we're going to be seeing gusts tomorrow probably up to 20 miles an hour, sustained more at 10 to 15 miles an hour. check out the 70s in cambridge and also into cull -- culpepper.

tomorrow, what's on tap, temperatures will be in the 60s into lutherville and pasadena, but the change is we'll have plenty of cloud cover. from the clouds we'll seat rain. so you need to break out that rain geemplet -- gear. we can see the bulk of the system out towards the west. check it out. western tennessee seeing a mex which are of sleet -- mixture of sleet and snow. this system is going to be moving in as we go into tomorrow. we're squeezed into an area of high pressure. that mild air is funneling in but we'll get cooler on the back side. speaking of the back side, we could be seeing snow. i'll show you that in just a second. by tomorrow morning we could be seeing showers, drizzle. then the rain moves in. your commute could be on the wet
