follow us on twitter at maryland traffic. gary giordano is free after four months in an aruban prison. he left wednesday bound for florida and caught a flight to new york. abc2 news' sherrie johnson has the latest on this developing story. >> reporter: charlie, yes, giordano is free and back in the u.s., left aruba yesterday, landed in miami before heading to new york. the gaithersburg man scored another legal victory yesterday when an appeals court rejected a prosecution appeal to put him back in pretrial detention. giordano left aruba when a three-judge panel ruled prosecutors lacked sufficient evidence to continue to hold him as a suspect in the disappearance and presumed death of his traveling companion robyn gardner. prosecutors say they still consider him a suspect and plan to pursue the case with the help of the fbi. he's denied wrongdoing in her disappearance. he says she vanished while they were snorkeling in aruba.

her body has not been found. >> it's hard to believe that the american authorities would extradite him just to let him sit there as they continue the investigation. >> reporter: giordano was accompanied by his attorney on the flight back to the united states. meanwhile, gardner's family says they are very disappointed in his release. they just want to know what happened to her. sherrie johnson, abc2 news. >> stay with us and "good morning america," for an exclusive interview with giordano, coming up a bit later following gurm "good morning maryland." a woman accused in two carjackings and robberies is in a jail cell this morning. stephanie schwab crashed her car during a police chase yesterday. the mother of two is a member of the ms13 violent gang. she testified against them in 2005 as part of the capital murder trial. >> it's a close knit community. >> there's growing support to

new this morning -- north dakota state university has come up with its own winter weather app. a smartphone app providing you with current gps locations to relay to emergency officials which can then be contacted with the simple press of a button. it allows you to also store a contact list, that tells you how many hours of fuel you have left and alert you when you should turn your car off to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning. all this if you get trapped in the old man winter and the cold temperatures out there. not too bad, hey, justin? back here it's very rare that we have an event like that though last january we had that thunder snow issue. that caught a lot of people just guard and stuck in their cars and jones falls was shut down for almost a half day. check this out. we have a look at bel air, by the way, that was overnight. this was yesterday in bel air,

surge at least the some sort over the weekend. high pressure keeps us breezy and cool. a stormy pattern for the central rockies and they are expecting extreme santa ana winds through the l.a. basin. that is a really active western storm. that is important because eventually that energy will slide to the east and impact us. but for the time being we're quiet. we may get residual clouds from one storm pattern passing to the north. the one thing that generates over the weekend. that is a storm that reaches us by the middle of next week with a dramatic change. it's december 1st, a near normal day with winds out of the northwest this afternoon and the sunshine, and tonight we'll slip back to 27, and low 30s by the bay. in the weekend, i just want to show you this, temperatures will remain somewhat moderate. mid-50s tomorrow and friday. low 50s, a brief cooldown saturday, back to 60 sunday.

marijuana with a street value of $32 million u.s., several people have been arrested. martin o'malley is in india on day six of his trinidad trip. -- his trade trip. more than 100 government officials, educators and business leaders are going with the governor for the trip. on this world aids day a new report from the united nations says the aids epidemic is leveling off and the number of people newly infected with the virus has remained unchanged since 2007. the report also shows evidence the declining funding for hiv and aids treatment in countries like india. critics say the u.s. aids aim is in wiping out the disease in overlea -- and might be overly optimistic considering there's no vaccine and donations slumped in the economic crisis. gary giordano is back on u.s. soil.
