they saw someonexd shoot a virginia tech police officer. the suspect ran off. >> our hearts are broken again for the family of our police officer. we extend our deepest sympathy and condolences. they rue on thatly put themselves at risk for our safety and we are deeply grateful for their service. >> reporter: the university of virginia state police will not confirm if the second person killed was the shooter. however, they slay there is no imminent danger and have lifted the lockdown. police are still trying to determine if the police officer killed was targeted. we'll be monitoring updates on this. we're continually updating it on our website. when we're not on the air, you can get latest details there

with the abc2 news app. the latest from harford county where a woman made a gruesome discovery. she had discovered a man shot to death behind the wheel of the car. the victim has been identified as christopher alves of edge wood. it appeared no one reported it. prosecutors in georgia plan to seek the death penalty of the man accused of killing a graw. giddings was last seen walking to her apartment. her body was found dismembered. 26-year-old steven mcdaniel who lived in the same building had been charged with her death. baltimore city fred

bealefeld was at a hearing on a program that they say back fired. they want answers from attorney general eric holder how operation fast and furious was run. agents followed illegal gun sales so they could track them. several guns ended up being used in crimes including the deathñrf an agent. high school teach are hasñr been arrested for havingxd sex with students. jeffrey robert sears was arrested this morning at glen burnie. he has taught there since 2006. the incidents took place on and off school ground. sears was removed from the classroom on november 1st after learning of a possible relationship with a student. >> this is the time for glen burnie to heal and be concerned

we've got lots of sunshine in thew3 wake of the wet weathe. right now not too bad. you can see the traffic moving nicely, people walking across the street. ite1 is chilly out there. that temperature coming in around 38 degrees. the winds are calm. they've already subside. that visibility is looking good as of now. into annapolis, check out the blue skies. we saw a few clouds try to move in and out. not a lot of boats on the severn river. it was a chilly dayed a very blustery day. as we slide over to ellicott city, we saw clouds. we're seeing more clouds move in. right now we're mostly clear but we'll be partly cloudy as we go later into the evening. we have all five sweeps scanning

the skies. we won't see anything as we go through the rest of the evening. the winds have died down. patuxent river about three miles an hour. the winds will be gusty again as we go into saturday. he'll talk more about that in a second. our highs today, 47 at the inner harbor. cambridge around 43. these temperatures were below average. it has been a pretty cool day on tap, chilly to some. the satellite and radar not picking up on a whole lot. we have clouds trying to filter. i think the sunshine will win out. the bigger view showing a few snow showers across nebraska as of now but we're not dealing with snow showers. the snow tried to fly from the sky. the ground was too warm. high pressure still in control of our weather. this is that cold front. this is the next one. it's going to be a dry one. we are going to be dealing with

colder air. temperatures in the morning will be waking up to the 20s. future trend not picking up. again, that front will move through, maybe a low pressure but it will stay off the coast. we might see a few clouds but that sunshine will win out as we go through tomorrow and saturday. 29 degrees and it will become calm as we go through the rest of the evening. seasonably cold as we go through tomorrow. by tomorrow night, a temperature aroundñi 31, partly cloudy, brey because you havexd bigñi plans,y cold. we can see temperatures in the low 40s. time temperature as those temperatures coming in the upper 40s top around 50. the next chance for showers rolls in by thursday.

shooting of a police officer. an office are stopped a vehicle during what is being called a routine traffic stop. >> shortly before 12:30 p.m., virginia tech police received the first kale advising they witnessed a suspect approach the officer and fire a weapon at the officer and then leave the scene. >> as soon as i saw it, i started crying. it's not going to be good. >> reporter: the shooter fled on foot, heading to another parking lot. that's where the second body was found. virginia tech put out four separate alerts within an hour. white male, gray sweat pants, grape hat with neon green brim on foot.
